Although there are many patients who suffer from cold hypersensitivity and have a difficult time in living daily lives due to feeling cold at room temperature, it is about true that an accurate diagnostic method and an effective remedy for a cold hypersensitivity have not been developed yet. Therefore, in order to develop traditional medicine equipment for cold hypersensitivity, we have designed new oxygen chamber system which can diagnose cold hypersensitivity with multiple bionic sensors and supply a patient optimum amount of oxygen adaptively to the extent of their illness. In particular, diverging from conventional diagnosis based on the experience of doctor and subjective statements of patient, we introduced accurate method for diagnosis in comparing between output of multiple sensors and threshold derived from clinical trials. After all, the proposed oxygen chamber system will contribute to achieving scientific evidence and manufacturing of korean traditional medicine.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to report the efficacy of using Korean medicine treatment with cold hypersensitivity of the hands and feet with lumbar spinal herniated intervertebral disc. Case presentation: We used Korean medicine treatment (Gyejigabuja-tang, acupuncture) to treat a hospitalized patient with cold hypersensitivity of the hands and feet with lumbar spinal herniated intervertebral disc. To evaluate the treatment, we used the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). The degree of cold hypersensitivity of the hands and feet was also evaluated using evaluation paper. The generic health status was measured using the European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) scale. The 31-year-old female underwent 13 days of inpatient treatment. Her pattern identification was that both hands and feet are cold (BiYangHeo) types. The treatments were herbal medicine and acupuncture. She took Gyejigabuja-tang for 13 days. She also received acupuncture for 20 minutes twice a day at LI11 (曲池), L14 (合谷), TE5 (外關) on her hands, LR3 (太衝), SP6 (三陰交), SP9 (陰陵泉) ST36 (足三里), GB41 (足臨泣) on Feet, GV4 (命門), GV3 (腰陽關), BL23 (腎兪), BL24 (氣海兪), BL25 (大腸兪), and BL26 (關元兪) on the low back. After 2 weeks of treatment, the NRS scale of her cold hypersensitivity of hands and feet symptoms dropped from NRS 7 to NRS 3, and her low back pain dropped from NRS 6 to NRS 3. Her cold hypersensitivity of hands and feet evaluation paper score decreased from 64 to 32, and her EQ-5D increased from 0.487 to 0.681. After the end of treatment, continued symptom improvements and no significant side effects were confirmed. Results: These findings suggest that Korean medical treatment (Gyejigabuja-tang, acupuncture) may be effective for treating cold hypersensitivity of hands and feet with lumbar spinal herniated intervertebral disc. The NRS, evaluation paper, and EQ-5D scores improved after treatment, with no side effects.
Objectives: This study was aimed to figure out the effect of Onkyung-tang (OKT) on cold hypersensitivity on feet in female patients. Methods: This study was designed to implement multi-center randomized clinical trial in three korean medical hospitals. The female patients who were enrolled in this study were 112 women who suffered from cold hypersensitivity on feet. They were randomly allocated into OKT group or control group in 1:1 ratio. The primary outcome was change in score of visual analogue scale of hypersensitivity on feet, and the secondary outcomes were thermometer of LU4, PC8, ST32, LR3, visual analogue scale of hypersensitivity on hands, result of cold stress test, and score of World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF. Results: In both group, the VAS of hypersensitivity on feet and hands was decreased while taking the medicine, and the effect of decreasing the VAS continues for the 4 weeks after the end of medication (p<0.001, 0.003, 0.001). In OKT group, the body temperature difference in lower extremity (ST32-LR3) was steadily decreased at every visit and it was statistically significant(p=0.003, <0.001). On the other hand, in control group, the body temperature difference in lower extremity was decreased only while taking the medicine (p<0.001). Conclusions: OKT significantly reduced discomfort coldness on feet in patients, and the effect of treatment was maintained at least for four weeks after medication.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to report the effect on cold hypersensitivity of hands, feet and low abdomen by Sasang constitutional treatment. For this purpose, the effects of a treatment were measured quantitatively using Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging (DITI). Methods: It was a case of report, the patient was a 25-year-old female whose chief complaint was cold hypersensitivity of hands and feet and low abdomem. We treated the patient with Sasang constitutional treatment, and the effect of a treatment was evaluated by DITI. Results: After Sasang constitutional treatment, the differences of temperature of hands, feet and low abdomem were decreased on DITI screening, respectively. Conclusions: Sasang constitutional treatment on cold hypersensitivity of hands, feet and low abdomen is effective. Further studies on diagnosis tools of low abdomen cold hypersensitivity are needed.

This study of purpose was to evaluate the changes in hands and feet temperature by applying massage and paraffin bath.. The subject of this study was 30 university healthy students. Subjects were divided into paraffin bath group and massages group. The digital infrared thermographic imaging was used for thermographic analysis. The visual analog scale was used for subjective information about the degree of cold sensitivity and cold stress test was used for analyzing the temperature recovery rate. After the interventions showed that temperature difference of the right hand and temperature difference of the left hand are less in the paraffin group than the massage group. When applied paraffin bath and massage to the cold hypersensitivity patient the massage group showed difference in the visual analog scale and the paraffin group showed difference in the temperature of the right hand, left hand, left foot and in the visual analog scale. Paraffin bath treatment seems to be useful to patients with cold hypersensitivity on hands and feet.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effects of Korean medical treatment with Hominis Placenta Pharmacopunture(HPP) on cold hypersensitivity of hands. Methods : A 46-year-old female patient whose chief complaint was cold hypersensitivity of hands was treated with Placenta Pharmacopunture at LI4 and LI10, ten times for a month. Acupuncture and herbal medicine were added depending on the symptoms. Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging(D.I.T.I) was taken and Visual Analog Scale(VAS) was examined before and after each treatment. Results : After the treatments, the symptoms were improved. Conclusions : DITI and VAS showed that the patient's cold hypersensitivity of hands was improved after Korean medical treatment with Hominis Placenta Pharmacopuncture.
Purpose : There are many patients with cold hypersensitivity who want oriental medicine treatment. But there has been no study of acupucture treatment effect on patients. So we examined effects of acupuncture treatment at different acupuncture points and compared results of 1st cold stress test and 2nd cold stress test. Method : 8 patients with hand cold hypersensitivity applied for this study. To rule out an bias, we excluded the patients with skin diseases, spinal nerve disease of cervial spine, external wounds. We measured body temperature with D.I.T.I. We performed cold stress test(CST) by 6 thermographic observation using D.I.T.I ; the 1st was taken after 15 minutes-resting, the 2nd was immediately taken after 1 minute soak in $20^{\circ}C$ water, the 3rd was taken at 10 minutes after the soak, and after a week, the 4th was taken after 15 minutes resting, the 5th was immediately taken after 1 minute soak in $20^{\circ}C$ water, the 6th was taken after 10 minutes with acupunture treatment. There were two groups of patients. First group was acupuncture that performed acupuncture therapy on distal points. Second group was acupuncture that performed acupuncture therapy on proximal points. We compared first CST and second CST recovery rate result. Results : The recovery rate at distal points acupuncture therapy was higher than before of that. but not significantly different. The recovery rate at proximal points acupuncture therapy was significantly higher than before of that. The recovery rate of both the back, the palms, all fingers of after proximal acupuncture therapy was significantly higher than before of that. Conclusions : Acupuncture could be effective therapy method on cold hypersensitivity, especially using proximal acupuncture points could be good at cold hypersensitivity patients. This was pilot study of very small samples, results had limitations. For further results more examine would be needed.
Introduction This study reports case series of Soyangin patients with coldness in hands and feet using Sasang constitutional medicine approach. This study suggests a value of using constitutional medicine indicators as both prognostic and diagnostic tools. Methods Among patients who visited an outpatient clinic, 7 patients were selected based on the criteria. These selected patients were exclusively treated with herbal medicine and monitored every 2 to 4 weeks retrospectively. Results The average treatment period was 8 weeks. Patients with a favorable pattern showed the improvement within 8 weeks, while those with an unfavorable pattern required more time. Discussion This study confirms the significance of Sasang constitutional medicine approach in Soyangin exterior cold syndrome with coldness in hands and feet. It also validates the current coldness in hands and feet as meaningful diagnostic indicator of Soyangin exterior cold syndrome. Furthermore, it highlights the value of original symptoms as prognostic tools.
Root surface exposure due to gingival recession after periodontal surgery, dentin exposure after root planing elicit pain response when exposed to mechanical, heat, chemical or osmotic stimulation. Especially, patients treated with periodontal surgery, show high frequency and there have been reports showing the 1 out of 7 patients have dentin hypersensitivity. There have been many studies on the clinical effects of various materials on the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity. but, none could provide absolute clinical efficacy. In this study, 45 teeth from 30 patients, who had had periodontal surgery and showed dentin hypersensitivity after surgery were chosen for the experimental group and they were illuminated with laser, 15teeth were chosen for the control group and they were not exposed to laser. After this dentin hypersensitivity was elicited by tactile, compressed air, cold water and then, the degree was evaluated using NRS(Numerical Rating Scale). And during LLLT(Low Level Laser Therapy) semiconductor laser using Gallium - Arsenide as a diode was illuminated for 180 seconds at a frequency of 7(500Hz). This therapy was done 10 times, and each time the changes in dentin hypersensitivity was evaluated using NRS. The results were as follows : 1. After treat with LLLT on dentin hypersensitivity due to periodontal surgery, 22.2% showed total loss of dentin hypersensitivity, 60.0% showed loss of tactile dentin hypersensitivity, 48.8% showed loss of compressed air dentin hypersensitivity, 22.2% showed loss of cold water dentin hypersensitivity. 2. As a result of clinical evaluation of dentin hypersensitivity using NRS, there was significant increase in improvement of dentin hypersensitivity in the experimental group compare to the control group(P<0.05). And there was almost no natural loss of dentin hypersensitivity in the control group. 3. In comparison of the stages of evaluation, there was significant difference in between experimental and control group. after the second visit(P<0.05), and the difference increased with each visit.
Objectives: The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between Sasang constitution and cold hypersensitivity. Methods: We investigated 391 outpatients who visited Dong-Eui Oriental Hospital OB & GY from June 12, 2013 to April 18, 2014. Among 134 patients who complained feeling of cold, we analyzed 107 patients whose Sasang constitution is confirmed. Results: 1. There were 21 persons 19.8% of under age 27, 28 persons 26.4% of age 28-34, 23 persons 21.7% of age 35-41, 18 persons 17% of age 42-48, 16 persons 15.1% of age over 49. 2. Among 107 patients, there were 52 persons 48.6% of Soeumin, 29 persons 27.1% of Taeeumin, 25 persons 23.4% of Soyangin, 1 person 0.9% of Taeyangin. And Taeyangin interior disease was 1 case 100%, Soyangin exterior disease was 22 cases 88% and interior disease was 3 cases 12%, Taeeumin exterior disease was 11 cases 37.9% and interior disease was 18 cases 62.1%, Soeumin exterior disease was 19 cases 36.5% and interior disease was 33 cases 3.5%. 3. In the distribution of cold-hypersensitive part, hands and feet with chills were 58 cases 4.7% by largest number, and the following was hands and feet in 24 cases 22.6%. 4. In the distribution of chief complaint, there were 25 cases 23.58% of menstrual pain, 19 cases 17.92% of postpartum symptoms, 17 cases 16.04% of oligomenorrhea and hypomenorrhea, 14 cases 13.21% of cold hypersensitivity. 5. In the distribution of chief complaint depending on age, menstrual pain of under age 27, postpartum symptoms of age 35-41 and cold hypersensitivity of over age 49 were at a high rate. Conclusions: Results suggest that patients with symptom of cold hypersensitivity have some tendencies in age, Sasang constitution, chief complaint, cold-hypertensive part.
