This article examines how individual differences on the need for cognitive closure and demographics influence consumer perception and the usage of consumer reviews in online shopping. Data were randomly collected from 2,381 U.S. online consumer review users through an online survey. The findings from multiple regression analyses revealed the different effects of the need for cognitive closure dimensions (i.e., preference for order and structure, preference for predictability, discomfort with ambiguity, closed-mindedness, and decisiveness) and demographic characteristics on consumer attitudes, perceived online review influence, benefits, persuasiveness, and review usage behavior. Finally, practical implications and prospects for future research are discussed.

The method of the study was survey research by using questionnaires. Subjects were 414 high school students in Seoul: 176 were males and 238 females. Five dimensions of lifestyles were derived by factor analysis: ‘digital orientation', 'positive activity', 'achievement orientation', 'material orientation', and ‘frugality'. Digital orientation had, in case of the male, a positive relation with body-modification need, a positive one with appearance interest in female. Positive activity had positive relations with appearance interest and body satisfaction in both male and female. Appearance interest, weight interest, and body-modification need levels were significantly higher for female than for male, whereas body satisfaction were higher for male than for female. Appearance interest of male was influenced by positive activities and social stratification. Appearance interest of female was influenced by material orientation and positive activity. Body-modification need of male was influenced by digital orientation and frugality(-), that of female only influenced by material orientation. Fashion and brand preference of male was influenced by material orientation, frugality(-), and social stratification. In case of the female, fashion was influenced by positive activity, material orientation and frugality(-), brand preference influenced by material orientation and positive activity.

This study aimed to ascertain the most efficient level of compression to be applied on a particular area along the upper extremities whilst developing functionality to prevent musculoskeletal disorders among workers who frequently use their arms. The compression areas were divided into upper arm, forearm, and wrist. The compression levels were applied using three types of bands. Comparisons on these bands' usability were based on evaluations of recorded brainwaves and subjective sensation response. Nine men in their twenties were selected for the experiment. The results revealed that when compression was applied, the left and right occipital lobes, plus the parietal lobe, were activated. Also, the alpha wave activity tended to increase, thereby exemplifying the compression's positive effects. The most physiologically efficient and subjectively preferred compression levels were 1.3 and 2.6 kPa for the upper arm and wrist. Furthermore, the compression level at the forearm should be at least 2.0 kPa.

This study investigated gender characteristics in contemporary virtual fashion design, focusing on avatars and genderless fashion in recent collections from Auroboros, Republiqe, Placebo Digital Fashion House, RTFKT, and Tribute. Employing content analysis within a theoretical framework of gender-related research, the study coded virtual avatars in terms of biological sex, appearance, and sociological perspectives. The results showed a preference for female-type avatars, through which androgynous aesthetics were embraced and traditional gender norms were challenged. Male-type avatars reflected experimentation with blending masculine elements, emphasizing inclusivity. Human-like avatars indicated a preference for designs that promoted inclusivity and, in the process, challenged binary classifications. The examined brands strategically capitalized on compromise, sensuality, and playfulness, thereby breaking away from traditional values to opt for more diverse styles. Genderless features combined elements from traditional men's and women's clothing, espousing sensuality and playful exaggeration. These findings signify a dynamic shift away from conventional gender standards to foster inclusivity and experimentation. They can serve as a reference for promoting creative strategies and design innovation, challenging the traditional gender perspective in the fashion industry. Implementing these strategies can lead to a more inclusive representation of fashion styles, encouraging critical thinking about gender norms.
This study aimed to investigate the perceptions and preferences of foreigners residing in Korea towards K-fashion. It sought to provide suggestions for the future development of K-fashion targeting this growing demographic. The results revealed that the longer foreigners had lived in Korea, the more positively they rated Korean fashion, shopping, and culture. The majority of foreigners purchased K-fashion items online, with popular choices including T-shirts, jackets, shirts, and jeans. Both men and women identified shoulders as a common problematic area when wearing clothing, with some issues also reported in the lumbar region. In terms of preferences, younger males (teens and twenties) were more inclined towards fads and celebrity wear compared to older males (thirties and forties). Similarly, younger females (teens and twenties) showed a higher preference for functionality and celebrity wear compared to older females (thirties and forties). These findings suggest that men tend to prioritize aesthetic factors when choosing K-fashion, while women prioritize practical considerations. To better cater to foreign consumers, suggestions for the development of K-fashion include promoting it through K-pop stars, considering dimensions related to foreigners' shoulders when designing top items, diversifying colors, sizes, and patterns, and providing English versions of online shopping platforms.

This study investigated the difference of clothing-behavior for the same occasions in terms of a cross-cultural context. It analyzed clothing items worn by TED speakers via video at TED.com in the US, UK, France, Japan, and South Korea from October to December 2012. An analysis on the 233 videos showed considerable differences among countries. American speakers wore casual items on the top and formal wear on the bottom. Most British speakers wore the same styles on the top and the bottom outfits such as 'formal-top & formal-bottom' or 'casual-top & casual-bottom'. French speakers chose mix and match styles. Japanese and Koreans selected the same styles on the top and the bottom outfits such as 'formal-top & formal-bottom' or 'casual-top & casual-bottom'. In particular, Japanese speakers selected various casual items more than other countries' speakers. Korean senior speakers had a preference to wear more formal clothing and young people liked more casual attachments. This study found that clothing attachments differed by cultural context and generation.
This study examined how Chinese tourists' beauty tour preferences and attitudes toward Korean culture impacted their purchasing behaviors, repurchasing intentions, and the likelihood that they would recommend the products and services they received. Between the 10th and 21st of June, 2016, a total of 277 questionnaires were distributed in Seoul, Busan and Daegu using SPSS 21.0. On the surveys, beauty tour preferences were divided into the following categories: human service, high quality service, convenience accessibility & cost, and facility & atmosphere. The study found that high quality service and convenience & accessibility significantly affected respondents' purchasing intentions, with high quality service showing the higher standardized beta value. Friendliness to Korean culture also had a significant impact on beauty tour purchasing intentions. Preference for human service, high quality service, and facility & atmosphere significantly affected the purchasing intentions and the likelihood o f respondent recommendations, with higher standardized beta values shown (from high est to lowest) in the preference for facility & atmosphere, and preference for human service and high quality service respectively. Concerning perceptions of beauty products, preference for quality had a significant impact on the repurchasing intentions and intentions of respondents to make recommendations, as did the respondents', friendliness toward Korean culture. This study suggests that, to be most effective, beauty tours should emphasize human service and facility & atmosphere, as well as high quality service. In addition, preference for beauty services or products, and friendliness to Korean culture must be considered.
