Delayed state feedback controller for the stabilization of ordinary systems

  • A New type of controller for stabilization of ordinary system in which delayed states are included in feedback loop, is presented. Simple conditions are proposed for the stabilization of ordinary systems with the delayed state feedback controller. Under these conditions, controller gains can be chosen such that desired system performances are satisfied. It is shown that by using this controller the performance and robustness of the resulting closed loop system are much improved compared to the conventional memoryless state feedback controllers.

  • This paper presents a one cycle R&D project regarding the large inertia platform servo control system. The steps followed the rather orthodox procedure. A serial double rate-loop was closed with a position loop, and acceleration velocity anticipatory compensations were designed in the forward path. Some appropriate compensation devices were utilized for the signal processing as well as for the better control quality. Simulations and experimental tests were repeated, and satisfactory performances were observed. However, frequency domain uncertainties inherent to the large structures still remain as an expertise supported subject.

A study on computer algorithm for pole assignment in multivariable control systems (다변수 제어계통의 극점배치를 위한 컴퓨터 앨고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • The computer algorithm and program are developed to obtain the Luenberger Canonical form and the transform matrices for linear time invariant multivariable control systems. The model controller of an eigth order system, which assigns the modes of the multivariable control systems and closed-loop matrices are computed numerically by the developed programs. It is shown that the computed results coincide with the Luenberger's and Kalman's method. The gain of the model controller has varied from 10$^{-3}$ to 10$^{5}$ by the modes assignment of the open-loop system.

Constrained MPC for uncertain time-delayed systems

  • It is well known that parameter uncertainties and time-delays cannot be avoided in practice and result in poor performance and even instability. Nevertheless, to the authors' best knowledge, there exist few results on model predictive control (MPC) handling explicitly uncertain time-delayed systems. In this paper, we present an MPC algorithm for uncertain time-varying systems with input constraints and state-delay. An optimization problem is suggested to find a memoryless state-feedback MPC law and the closed-loop stability is established under feasibility and certain conditions.

Parametric Approaches for Eigenstructure Assignment in High-order Linear Systems

  • This paper considers eigenstructure assignment in high-order linear systems via proportional plus derivative feedback. It is shown that the problem is closely related with a type of so-called high-order Sylvester matrix equations. Through establishing two general parametric solutions to this type of matrix equations, two complete parametric methods for the proposed eigenstructure assignment problem are presented. Both methods give simple complete parametric expressions for the feedback gains and the closed-loop eigenvector matrices. The first one mainly depends on a series of singular value decompositions, and is thus numerically very simple and reliable; the second one utilizes the right factorization of the system, and allows the closed-loop eigenvalues to be set undetermined and sought via certain optimization procedures. An example shows the effect of the proposed approaches.

  • This paper presents a robust controller design approach for improving vehicle dynamic roll motion performance and guaranteeing the closed-loop system stability in spite of vehicle parameter variations resulting from aging elements, loading patterns, and driving conditions, etc. The designed controller is linear parameter-varying (LPV) in terms of the time-varying parameters; its control objective is to minimise the $H_{\infty}$ performance from the steering input to the roll angle while satisfying the closed-loop pole placement constraint such that the optimal dynamic roll motion performance is achieved and robust stability is guaranteed. The sufficient conditions for designing such a controller are given as a finite number of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Numerical simulation using the three-degree-of-freedom (3-DOF) yaw-roll vehicle model is presented. It shows that the designed controller can effectively improve the vehicle dynamic roll angle response during J-turn or fishhook maneuver when the vehicle's forward velocity and the roll stiffness are varied significantly.

State Feedback $H^{\infty}$ Controller Design for Linear Systems with Time-delays (시간지연을 가지는 선형 시스템에 대한 상태궤환 $H^{\infty}$제어기 설계)

  • This paper presents a state feedback $H^{\infty}$ controller design method for linear systems with delayed states and inputs. We derive a sufficient condition that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable for all time-delays and that the $H^{\infty}$-norm of the closed-loop transfer function is less than or equal to some prescribed level $\gamma$. And we propose a sufficient condition for the existence of a state feedback $H^{\infty}$ controller using a form of linear matrix inequality(LMI). Furthermore, we show that the state feedback $H^{\infty}$ controllers can be obtained from solutions satisfying LMI.

  • This paper is proposed an adaptive fuzzy-neural network(A-FNN) controller based on the vector controlled induction motor drive system. The hybrid combination of fuzzy control and neural network will produce a powerful representation flexibility and numerical processing capability. Also, this paper is proposed speed estimation of induction motor using A closed-loop state observer. The rotor position is calculated through the stator flux position and an estimated flux value of rotation reference frame. A closed-loop state observer is implemented to compute the speed feedback signal. The results of analysis prove that the proposed control system has strong robustness to rotor parameter variation, and has good steady-state accuracy and transitory response.

  • In this note, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear integral variable structure controller based on state dependent nonlinear form is presented for the control of uncertain more affine nonlinear systems with mismatched uncertainties and matched disturbance. After an affine uncertain nonlinear system is represented in the form of state dependent nonlinear system, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear integral variable structure controller is presented. To be linear in the closed loop resultant dynamics and remove the reaching phase problems, the linear integral sliding surface is suggested. A corresponding control input is proposed to satisfy the closed loop exponential stability and the existence condition of the sliding mode on the linear integral sliding surface, which will be investigated in Theorem 1. Through a design example and simulation studies, the usefulness of the proposed controller is verified.

  • This paper presents a method to determine the characteristic polynomial of a closed loop all-pole system in order to obtain desired transient response in terms of the overshoot and speed (rising/settling time). The method adjusts the overshoot by doing some changes in the characteristic ratios of the Bessel-Thompson filter. The closed loop speediness is then tuned by suitable choice of the generalized time constant. Simulation results are presented to evaluate the achievements and make comparison with those of a similar method.
