Fault Diagnosis of PV String Using Deep-Learning and I-V Curves (딥러닝과 I-V 곡선을 이용한 태양광 스트링 고장 진단)

  • Renewable energy is receiving attention again as a way to realize carbon neutrality to overcome the climate change crisis. Among renewable energy sources, the installation of Photovoltaic is continuously increasing, and as of 2020, the global cumulative installation amount is about 590 GW and the domestic cumulative installation amount is about 17 GW. Accordingly, O&M technology that can analyze the power generation and fault diagnose about PV plants the is required. In this paper, a study was conducted to diagnose fault using I-V curves of PV strings and deep learning. In order to collect the fault I-V curves for learning in the deep learning, faults were simulated. It is partial shade and voltage mismatch, and I-V curves were measured on a sunny day. A two-step data pre-processing technique was applied to minimize variations depending on PV string capacity, irradiance, and PV module temperature, and this was used for learning and validation of deep learning. From the results of the study, it was confirmed that the PV fault diagnosis using I-V curves and deep learning is possible.

  • As a means to cope with the climate change crisis caused by global warming, automobile manufacturers continue to make efforts to use the driving energy of vehicles as electricity. As a result, parts industry such as battery, motor, and controller are attracting attention. China is often seen in large cities, with electric vehicles such as electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, and small electric vehicles popularized and commercialized, mainly in large cities. However, small electric vehicles are not popular in Korea, which is why the country's topography is high in hills. In order to drive the hilly domestic roads, power performance including vehicle climbing ability should be improved. In order to improve the power performance and the climbing capacity of small electric vehicles, the capacity of the motor should be increased. However, when the performance of the motor is improved, the weight of the motor becomes heavy and the price competitiveness is likely to decrease. In addition, in order to operate a high-performance motor, the power consumption of the battery is rapidly increased, so various problems must be solved. In order to commercialize a small electric vehicle for one or two people who do not emit harmful exhaust gas to the human body in a hilly domestic terrain, it is effective to have a separate transmission system. In this study, we were conducted dynamometer test to produce a continuously variable transmission(CVT) system prototype using a spring that can be applied to a small electric vehicle and to install a CVT system prototype manufactured in a small electric vehicle. The dynamometer test results showed that the maximum speed performance, acceleration performance, and climbing performance were improved.

  • Globally, the eco-friendly industry is developing due to the climate crisis. Electric vehicles are an eco-friendly industry that is attracting attention as it is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 30~70% or more compared to internal combustion engine vehicles. As electric vehicles become more popular, charging stations have become an important factor for purchasing electric vehicles. Recent research is using artificial intelligence to identify local demand for charging stations and select locations that can maximize economic impact. In this study, in order to contribute to the improvement of the performance of the electric vehicle charging station demand prediction model, nationwide data that can be used in the artificial intelligence model was defined and a pre-processing technique was proposed. In addition, a preprocessor, artificial intelligence model, and service web were implemented for real charging station demand prediction, and the value of data as a location selection factor was verified.

  • The continuous excessive consumption of fossil fuels is causing global warming, climate, and environmental crisis. Accordingly, hydrogen energy attracts attention among alternative energies of fossil fuels, because it has the advantage of not emitting pollutants and not having resource restrictions. Therefore, various studies are being conducted on a water electrolysis system for producing hydrogen and a fuel cell system for producing electricity by using hydrogen energy as a fuel. In this study, 3D ionomer models were produced by reflecting the excessive water condition of an anion-conductive ionomer material, which is one of the core materials of water electrolysis systems and fuel cells. Finally, by analyzing the structural stability and performance of the ionomer under an excessively hydrated condition, we suggested a performance improvement factor in the design of an anion conductive ionomer, a key material for water electrolysis systems and fuel cells.

  • 최근 기후변화로 발생되는 폭우, 강풍 등의 기상현상으로 인해 하천범람, 내수침수, 해수범람 등 특히 해안도시지역에서의 물 문제는 날로 심화되고 있다. 이에 정부에서는 저영향개발(Low Impact Development, LID) 사업 및 친환경그린인프라(Green Infrastructure, GI) 기술요소의 적용확대를 추진하고 있다. 이에 환경부에서는 환경기술개발사업의 일환으로 '그린인프라 제도/정책 및 재원관리의 선진화(2021)' 연구용역을 통해 관련 추진체계 구축, 제도 개선방안 등을 모색하였다. 해당 연구에서는 기존의 LID 및 GI 관련 정책·제도 개선, 강우유출수 관리목표 설정방안, 투수/불투수도 제작 지침 마련, 시민인식조사 등을 통해 그린인프라 확대를 위한 과학적 근거 및 통합관리제도를 마련하였다. 이와 더불어 2013년부터 도시지역의 우수유출 저감, 물순환 구조 개선, 비점오염원 관리를 위해 '그린빗물인프라(Green Stormwater Infrastructure, GSI) 조성 사업'을 추진하여 국비지원을 지속하고 있다. 'GSI 조성사업'은 2014년 공공청사 중심에서 학교, 도서관, 체육시설, 공원 등 적용 범위를 확대 하고 있는 추세이나, 수도권지역과 물순환선도도시 조성사업이 진행중인 5개 지역(김해시, 광주시, 안동시, 울산시, 대전시)을 제외한 각 지자체에서는 실효성 있는 추진체계 및 가이드라인 부존 등의 문제로 적용에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이에 경상남도는 지역적 특성을 반영한 GSI 조성 추진체계 마련을 목표로 본 연구용역을 추진하였으며, GSI 관련 국내외 현황조사, GSI 조성을 위한 공공청사의 우선순위 선정, 지형적(토지피복, 토양형 등), 기상학적 현황을 토대로 한 우선순위 선정, 이를 통합한 경남형 GSI 조성 추진체계를 제시하고자 한다.

Transformative Regional Innovation Policy: Review (전환적 지역혁신정책: 리뷰)

  • This study is a review paper on the contents and policy direction of the 'Transformative regional innovation policy'. The transformative regional innovation policy is a policy that develops countermeasures against climate crisis, aging, and polarization with a vision of system transformation from the perspective of local residents. The structure of the study is as follows. First, it deals with the characteristics of transformative regional innovation policy theory, which is distinguished from existing regional innovation policies. Next, studies related to major elements of transformative regional innovation policies, types of system transformation, and industrial formation are reviewed. The elements that differentiate the transformative regional innovation policy from existing policies are summarized and issues to be addressed in order to develop future discussions are drawn.

  • In order to respond to the complexity and uncertainty of water management due to the climate crisis, K-water established a digital twin water management platform based on our experience in operating ICT infrastructure such as hydrological data sensing and high-quality data management and water management capabilities. In this platform, data from related organizations and real-time observation data in the basin are displayed on 3D topographic domain. Also it is configured to support optimal decision-making through simulation for various situations, displaying and analyzing results, and feedback on them. It is completed to establish the platform for Sunjim river basin. Based on this technologies and experience, K-water is planning to expand this digital twin to 5 major rivers in Korea. Through this, it plans to build comprehensive decision-making system for efficient water management considering various conditions in entire basin. Also it aims to create a new water industrial ecosystem and contribute to secure technological competitiveness cooperating with private companies.

  • As the global energy and climate crisis has complicated interests of each country, the agenda that requires a global response has recently been revived. In particular, Korea is highly dependent on energy imports and continues to have high energy consumption, low efficiency of energy consumption, and high greenhouse gas emissions, so innovative and effective energy policies are urgently needed to achieve energy efficiency and carbon neutrality. In this study, among the changes in distributed district energy policy after the integrated energy method was introduced in Korea in the mid-1980's, the case of the "National Heat Map Project" policy implementation is analyzed with a modified multi-flow model. The 10 years of the Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye administrations, the period of study, was a period in which the main paradigm of energy policy shifted to a "distributed energy platform" and policy transitions such as policy agenda setting, policy drift, and policy revision were made. A study on the process would be meaningful.

  • This article compared and analyzed the SF films Snowpiercer and Space Sweepers, which embody the imagination of disaster for the future dystopian society. In common, the two films represent the future society as a society with a serious climate crisis and an extremely widening gap between the rich and the poor. Both films use similar narrative strategies: representing a isolated, twisted-willed scientist figure, building a main stage as catastrophic hierarchical capitalist society, and focusing on the conflicts between a dominant group possessing the science-capital-power and a resistant but ordinary subjects. However, there is the different framing on the future society in terms of representing nature, science technology, and human-nonhuman agency. This distinction is shaped by the narrative function of the objects represented by two films.

Exploring consumer awareness and attitudes towards eco-friendly packaging among undergraduate students in Korea

  • The global waste crisis has been escalating and its consequent impact on soil, water, air pollution, and eventually climate change acceleration has shed light on the importance of reducing waste. Amidst COVID-19 and the following surge in single-use plastics for food delivery, waste generation is on the incline. Companies and governments have embarked on developing various eco-friendly packaging technologies, but their effectiveness on the consumers is vague as definitions of eco-friendly packaging are vague, and research on its link to purchase intention remains scarce. Thus, the adoption of eco-friendly packaging has been slow. To address this issue, this study analyzes the awareness and purchase intention of four visual attributes of eco-friendly packaging-material, verbal statement, eco-label, and color-along with the environmental consciousness among undergraduate university students in Korea through online surveys and the ordered logit regression model. The study distinguished the attributes into evidence-based and conjectural categories. The findings revealed that eco-friendly visual attributes had a positive effect on purchase intention amongst undergraduate students in Korea; however the level of environmental consciousness had marginal effect on the purchase intention of eco-friendly visual attributes. The level of effectiveness also varied with each visual element. Analyses revealed that visual attributes to eco-friendly material had marginal effect on purchase intention; color was deemed not an "Eco-friendly attribute" by most students, and although eco-friendly labels were deemed as an eco-friendly attribute, trust in the labels varied according to environmental consciousness. These findings have implications for businesses and policymakers aiming to promote eco-friendly consumption within packaged food products.
