  • Based on the kernel function, a new test is presented, testing $H_0:\bar{F}$ is exponential against $H_1:\bar{F}$ is UBACT and not exponential is given in section 2. Monte Carlos null distribution critical points for sample sizes n = 5(5)100 is investigated in section 3. The Pitman asymptotic efficiency for common alternatives is obtained in section 4. In section 5 we propose a test statistic for censored data. Finally, a numerical examples in medical science for complete and censored data using real data is presented in section 6.

  • For a stationary queue with BMAP arrivals, Takine and Takahashi [8] present a relationship between the queue length distributions at a random epoch and at a departure epoch by using the rate conservation law of Miyazawa [6]. In this note, we derive the same relationship by using the elementary balance equation, ‘rate-in = rate-out’. Along the same lines, we additionally derive relationships between the queue length distributions at a random epoch and at an arrival epoch. All these relationships hold for a broad class of finite-as well as infinite-capacity queues with BMAP arrivals.

  • In this paper, we want to develop objective priors for the common location parameter in two half-t distributions with unequal scale parameters. The half-t distribution is a non-regular class of distribution. One can not develop the reference prior by using the algorithm of Berger of Bernardo (1989). Specially, we derive the reference priors and prove the propriety of joint posterior distribution under the developed priors. Through the simulation study, we show that the proposed reference prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense.

  • A non-parametric test based on U-statistic for testing exponentiality against the new better than used renewal failure rate (NBURFR) alternatives is introduced and the percentiles of this test statistic are tabulated for sample size 5(1)50. Its properties are also discussed including the Pitman asymptotic efficiency relative to the tests of the new better than used and new better than used failure rate (Ahmed (1994) and Hendi (2000)). The powers of this test are also calculated for some used life distributions. An example from blood cancer patients demonstrates a practical application of our test in the medical sciences is presented. Finally the problem when right-censored data is available is handled.

  • We introduce the study of a semi-slant lightlike submersion from an indefinite Kaehler manifold onto an r-lightlike manifold. After giving the definition of a semi-slant lightlike submersion, we establish the existence Theorems for this class of lightlike submersions. Then, we derive the integrability conditions for the distributions D1, D2 and ∆ associated with a semi-slant lightlike submersion. Consequently, we find some necessary and sufficient conditions for the foliations determined by the distributions D1, D2 and ∆. Subsequently, we examine the geometry of totally umbilical fibres of a semi-slant lightlike submersion.

  • In the present work, a moment inequality is derived for new renewal better (worse) than used in expectation(NRBUE) (NRWUE) distributions. This inequality demonstrates that if the mean life is finite then all higher order moments exist. A new test statistics for testing exponentiality against NRBUE (NRWUE) is introduced based on this inequality. It is shown that the proposed test is simple and has high relative efficiency for some commonly used alternatives. Critical values are tabulated for sample sizes n = 5(1)30. A set of real data is used as an example to elucidate the use of the proposed test statistics for practical reliability analysis.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the characteristics of the pronunciation of Korean vowels in patients with class III malocclusion. 11 adult male patients with class III malocclusion(mean ages 22.3 years) and four adult males with normal occlusion(mean ages 26.5 years) were selected for the analysis of eight Korean monophthongs /ㅣ, ㅔ, ㅐ, ㅏ, ㅓ, ㅗ, ㅡ, ㅜ/. The values and relationships of F1, F2 and F3 were derived from the stable section of target vowel in each sentence, and the analysis using formant plots and vowel triangles' distance and area was conducted to find the features of two groups' vowel distributions. Consequently, it was identified that the pronunciation of males patients with class III malocclusion showed high values of F1 in the low vowels, high values of F2 in the back vowels, and remarkably low position of /ㅏ/. The vowel triangle suggested that the triangle areas of male patients with class III malocclusion were shown wider vertically and narrower horizontally than those of males with normal occlusion. These characteristics could reflect the structural features of class III malocclusion such as the prognathic mandible, low tongue position, and advancement of back position of the tongue.

  • We consider a multiclass queue where queued customers are served in their order of arrival at a rate which depends on the customer type. By using the asymptotic results obtained by Dabrowski et al. (2006) we calculate the sharp asymptotics of the stationary distribution of the number of customers of each class in the system and the distribution of the number of customers of each class when the total number of customers reaches a high level before emptying. We also obtain a fast simulation algorithm to estimate the overflow probability and compare it with the general simulation and asymptotic results.

  • A new classes of life distribution, namely harmonic used better than aged in expectation in upper tail (HUBAEUT) is introduced. Testing exponentiality against this class is investigated using kernel method. The limiting null and nonnull distribution of the test statistics is normal and the null variance is calculated exactly. Selected critical values are tabulated for sample sizes of 5(1)40. Power of the test are estimated by simulation. the efficacies of the test statistics used for testing against HUBAEUT are calculated for som common alternatives and are compared to some other procedures. It is shown that proposed test is simple, has high relative efficiency and power for some commonly used alternatives. The set of real data are used as an examples to elucidate the use of the proposed test statistics for practical reliability.

  • We consider a wide class of general weakly-dependent processes, called ψ-weak dependence, which unify almost all weak dependence structures of interest found in statistics under natural conditions on process parameters, such as mixing, association, Bernoulli shifts, and Markovian sequences. For detecting the tail behavior of the weakly dependent processes, change point tests are developed by means of cumulative sum (CUSUM) statistics with the empirical distribution functions of sample extremes. The null limiting distribution is established as a Brownian bridge. Its proof is based on the ψ-weak dependence structure and the existence of the phantom distribution function of stationary weakly-dependent processes. A Monte-Carlo study is conducted to see the performance of sizes and powers of the CUSUM tests in GARCH(1, 1) models; in addition, real data applications are given with log-returns of financial data such as the Korean stock price index.
