  • This paper presents average current-mode control AC/DC ZVT(Zero Voltage Transition) Boost Converter. This boost converter perceives feed forward signal of input and feedback signal of output for average current-mode control proposed converter employs active-clamp method for ZVT. This converter gives the good PFC(Power Factor Correction), low line current hormonic distortions and tight output voltage regulations. This converter also has a high efficiency by active-clamp method. The principle of operation, feature, and design considerations are illustrated and verified through the experiment with a 150W, 120kHz prototype converter.

  • Resonant converters have several salient features such as high efficiency and low noise. Therefore, ZVS-PWM controlled series resonant converter with active-clamp technique is presented. The combination of an active-clamp technique and resonant circuit makes it possible to control the output voltage of the resonant converter with PWM. This new resonant converter was implemented and has achieved a good controllability. In this paper, the normal load characteristics and abnormal voltage increase in the case of the light load are analyzed. As a result, it is clarified that the stray capacitance of the transformer is a cause of the abnormal voltage increase. Then, it is confirmed that the abnormal voltage increase is suppressed by decreasing the duty ratio. ZVS condition is analyzed. The maximum efficiency of 89% is obtained for the output of 10V and 5A.

  • This paper proposes a method of switching to improve power loss for the single-phase three-level NPC inverter. The conventional switching methods, which are called as the bipolar and unipolar switching methods, are used for single phase inverters using three-level topology. However, these switching method have disadvantage in the power loss. Because all of the switch are operated. To reduce the power loss of the three-level NPC inverter, clamp switching method is introduced in this paper. This way, one of the lag is fixed that switching loss is reduced. This paper analyzes and compares power losses of unipolar method and clamp method. The validity of the power loss analysis is verified through the simulation and experimental results.

  • Tempting to further understand the molecular mechanism of pharmacological action of ethanol, we investigated the acute effects of ethanol on the GABA-activated current (IGABA) of the cultured Sprague-Dawley rat hippocampal neurons in primary culture using the whole-cell patch-clamp technique. Patch-clamp recordings revealed that ethanol potentiated the Cl- current in a concentration-dependent manner(1-300mM) in the majority of the cell studied. This study demonstrates that ethanol can potentiate IGABA in mammalian central neurons.

  • The desin and implementation of a CMOS analog integrated circuit that provides dual-mode modulations, PWM for active clamp reset converter and PFM for LLC resonant converter, is described. The proposed controller is capable of implementing programmable soft start and current-mode control with compensating ramp for PWM and frequency shifting soft start for PFM. Also it provides delay time for both modes. PWM mode is implemented by active clamp reset converter and PFM mode is implemented by LLC resonant convereter, respectively. The chip is fabricated using the 0.6um high voltage CMOS process.

  • Human atria play an important role in extracellular homeostasis through release of atrial natriuretic peptide. To evaluate the relationship between plasma level of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and many changes which can develop during extracorporeal circulation, we studied 16 patients undergoing, 12 cardiac operation and 4 thoracic operation. Plasma level of ANP in cardiac patients group was significantly higher and more changeable than thoracic patients group. After aortic cross clamp release, blood was filled at right atrium and right atrial pressure was rapidly increased. At the same time, plasma level of ANP was rised suddenly. Increase of ANP level was correlated (p<0.05) with the increase of total bypass time, but was not correlated statistical with aortic cross clamp time. ANP level did not fall rapidly after aortic cross clamp while both atria were completely empty. This result was explained by intraoperative hypothermia at that time, which can inactivate plasmal endopeptidase and catalytic receptors of ANP. The ANP level of atrial fibrillation group in cardiac patients were generally higher than normal sinus group, but there was no statistical correlation.

  • An improved zero voltage and zero current switching (ZVZCS) full bridge (FB) PWM converter is proposed to solve the problems of the previously presented ZVACS-FB-PWM converter with secondary active clamp such as narrow ZVS range of leading-leg switches [6]. By adding an auxiliary inductor in between the leading-leg and separated input source voltages, the ZVS of leading leg switches can be extended to the whole line and load ranges, which eliminates unwanted hard switching of clamp switch and simplifies its control. The principle of operation is explained and analyzed. The features and design considerations of the proposed converter are also illustrated and verified on a 3 kW, 100 KHz IGBT based experimental circuit.

  • Conventional active-clamp forward converter has narrow ZVS range of main switch. Although utilizing high magnetizing current can realize wide ZVS range, it increases the conduction loss. To solve this problem, a new asymmetric two-transformer active clamp forward converter is proposed. Proposed converter achieves wide ZVS range without severe conduction loss penalty, which results in high efficiency and high power density.
