Assessment of LMX as Mediator in Procedural Justice - Organizational Citizenship Behavior Relationship

  • Purpose: Organizational justice is not considered as objective variable, but considerably, it is the employee's perceptions about an organization. Since the last four decades, researchers endorsed the significant importance of organizational justice on motivation and work behaviours like turnover intentions, trust, motivation, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, in-role and organizational citizenship behaviour. Accordingly, scant literature is available on procedural justice - organizational citizenship behaviour via mediating role of leader-member exchange (LMX) in higher education context especially in Asian countries like Pakistan. Research Design, Data and Methodology: Cross - sectional study design was used and data was collected from the 452 permanent and contractual teaching faculty serving in different positions at private and public sector degree awarding institutes / universities accredited by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Mediated regression analysis, as proposed by Baron and Kenny (1986), was employed to address the research hypothesis. Results: Results showed that procedural justice and LMX was positively impacted on OCB and LMX also fully mediates the relationship of procedural justice and organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB). Conclusion: The result indicated that LMX fully mediates the relationship of procedural justice and organizational citizenship behaviour.

Influence of Leader-Member Exchange and Organizational Commitment on Organizational Citizenship Behavior in Nursing Organization (간호단위의 리더-구성원 교환관계와 조직몰입이 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study aims to secure basic data required to enhance the organizational efficiency as increasing the organizational citizenship behavior of nurses through identifying the influence of leader-member exchange and organizational commitment en organizational citizenship behaviors in nursing organization. Method: The subjects of this study were 352 nurses. Data was collected using structured questionnaires for 15 days from 10 to 24 April 2003. Result: According to the analysis on the influence of leader-member exchange, organizational commitment and general characteristics on organizational citizenship behaviors, the organizational commitment, leader-member exchange and tenure of office had significant influences, as 23.0%, 30.2% and 31.3%, respectively. Conclusion: It is required to increase the organizational commitment and to enhance leader-member exchanges for the purpose of inducing the organizational citizenship behaviors. Furthermore, it is also necessary to develop the strategies through development of medical environment and clinical carrier experiences for self-development of member based en long-term tenure of nursing organization

Relationship among Followership, Organizational Cynicism, Organizational Citizenship Behavior in Hotel Employee (호텔기업 구성원의 팔로워십, 조직냉소주의, 조직시민행동 영향 관계)

  • The purpose of this research investigates the relationship among followership, organizational cynicism, and organizational citizenship behavior in Hotel employee. The data are analyzed by such frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, covariance structure analysis. The SPSS 10.1 and AMOS 4.0 for Windows program was used to investigate material. The major finding and implication can be summarized as follow: First, the analysis on relationship between followership and organizational cynicism revealed that critical thinking and active participation dimensions of but enthusiasm dimension of followership has not affected organizational citizenship behavior. Second, the analysis on relationship between organizational cynicism and organizational citizenship behavior revealed that organizational cynicism affects organizational citizenship behavior.

The Influences of Workplace Spirituality and Emotional Intelligence on the Organizational Citizenship Behavior for Clinical Nurses (임상간호사의 일터영성과 감성지능이 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : This study was done to identify the influences of workplace spirituality and emotional intelligence on the organizational citizenship behavior of clinical nurses. Methods : The subjects were 230 clinical nurses, working over 6 months in four general hospitals in three cities. Data were obtained from March 20 to March 30, 2016, with a self-report questionnaire, and analyzed using the IBM SPSS 21.0 program. Results : The factors related to the organizational citizenship behavior of nurses were workplace spirituality(${\beta}$=.36), emotional intelligence(${\beta}$=.29), 40 years of age or higher(${\beta}$=.26), working in a special ward(${\beta}$=.11), and turnover intention(${\beta}$=.10). These variables explained 61.6% of the variance in organizational citizenship behavior of nurses. Conclusions : In order to improve the quality of nursing services and business performance in hospital organizations, it is necessary to enhance workplace spirituality and emotional intelligence. This would lead to promoting organizational citizenship behavior through the development and application of intervention programs from a nursing organization perspective.

  • The purpose of this study tried to reveal how human capitals of deluxe hotels located in Seoul affects corporate trust and organizational citizenship behaviors. In addition, it tries to find out the mediating effect that the trust among coworkers have contributed to human capital and organizational citizenship behaviors. The result of this study shows that Human capital have a great effect on the trust among employees and organizational citizenship behaviors. And it has been outed that the trust between the company and employees is a mediating effect between human capital and organizational citizenship behaviors. The results of this research shows that for competitive advantage under the competitive environment of the hotel industry, in addition to human resource management and organizational management, the management system which emphasizes the importance of human capital and the trust among company members should be built.

Effect of Authentic Leadership on Organizational Citizenship Behaviors through Mediating Roles of Followers' Self-awareness and Psychological Ownership

  • Purpose - This study empirically validates the theoretical argument of the effect of authentic leadership on organizational citizenship behavior, and the mediating roles of followers' self-awareness and psychological ownership between authentic leadership and followers' organizational citizenship behavior. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 380 office workers in Korea were surveyed through on-line, and the result was analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equational modeling. Results - The authentic leadership was shown to be related positively to followers' self-awareness and psychological ownership, both of which were associated positively with their organizational citizenship behavior. The complete mediating effects of followers' self-awareness and psychological ownership were verified between authentic leadership and follower's organizational citizenship behavior. Conclusions - While followers' self-awareness was rarely studied in the authentic leadership study to date, it was found to play a role in the authentic leadership process into organizational outcome. It is argued that the followers' self-awareness as a mediating role between authentic leadership and organizational outcome seems to be more appropriate than the leader' s identification of previous thesis in explaining the authentic leadership effect.

The Effect of Learning Organization Level on Organizational Citizenship Behavior : Focus on the effect of Supervisor Trust (공무원의 학습조직 특성이 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향 : 상사신뢰의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • This study is to discover and substantiate the casual relation between Learning Organization and Organizational Citizenship Behavior, with Supervisor Trust used as moderating variable. Learning Organization and Organization Citizenship Behavior are used, respectively, as independent and dependent variable, Supervisor Trust as moderating variable. The data for this study was collected from 340 public officials who participated in the training program. Data collection tools were used to collect structured questionnaire questionnaires, and dissemination and retrieval of questionnaires were carried out over 6 weeks from February 6 to March 10, 2017. Of the questionnaire distributed, the questionnaire was finally recovered from the questionnaire, with a recall rate of 91.8 %, showing a very high rate of recall. The result showed that Learning Organization is a significant factor for Organization Citizenship Behavior and also that Supervisor Trust plays a role in the control of the relationship between Learning Organization and Organization Citizenship Behavior; thus, in order for Public Organizations to achieve advanced competitiveness, vitalizations of Learning Organization is important.

The Effects of Self-Leadership and Self-Efficacy on Organizational Effectiveness and Organizational Citizenship Behavior in Nurses (간호사의 셀프리더십과 자기효능감이 조직유효성과 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of self-leadership and self-efficacy on organizational performance, or more specifically, job satisfaction, organizational concentration and organizational citizenship behavior and then the effects of hospital organization members' job attitude on organizational performance, helping strengthen capability that individuals of the members have and ultimately improve that performance. Findings of the study can be summarized as follows. First, self-leadership has statistically significant effects on organizational citizenship behavior. Second, self-leadership has statistically significant influences on self-effectiveness, especially job satisfaction and organizational concentration. Third, how self-efficacy influences organizational effectiveness was examined to find that self-efficacy has significant effects on organizational concentration, but not on job satisfaction. Fourth, self-efficacy has no effect on organizational citizenship behavior. Fifth, how organizational effectiveness influences organizational citizenship behavior was investigated to find that effectiveness has statistically significant effects on organizational concentration, but not on job satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the perception of organizational citizenship behavior and that of safety culture by airline pilots. Finding factors which composed of organizational citizenship behavior, this paper will prove the effects of those factors to the safety culture of an airline. Organizational citizenship behavior means the activities of members, based on their free will, to enhance organization's overall productivity and performance, which are, however, not officially and apparently approved by the organization. Safety culture is to contain the concept in the organization's protocol, procedure and policy affecting safety performance of the organization. According to the analysis, it was proven compliance of organizational citizenship behaviors has a positive effect on safety culture through job satisfaction. Moreover, altruism and individual initiative have a direct positive effect on safety behavior of pilots.

Factors Affecting the Organizational Citizenship Behaviors of General Hospital Nurses (종합병원 간호사의 조직시민행동 영향요인)

  • Objectives : Identify the factors that affect organizational citizenship behavior of hospital nurses, and to provide a basis for developing an effective nursing workforce management system. Methods : Participants of this study were 214 nurses serving at general hospitals located in B Metropolitan City. Data collection was performed from Oct.15th to 25th, 2014. The methods of analyzing data were ANOVA, Scheffe's-Test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient Analysis and the Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis according to the SPSS WIN 18.0 Program. Results : Emotional intelligence explained 42.1% of the subjects' organizational citizenship behaviors. This figure increased to 48.7, 51.3 and 52.3%, respectively when other three factors of job satisfaction, age and educational background were added on a one-by-one basis. Conclusions : Considering that emotional intelligence is a critical factor in organizational citizenship behaviors, general hospitals should develop and implement education and training programs that can raise their nurses' emotional intelligence and job satisfaction and, concomitantly, promote their organizational citizenship behaviors provided that feedbacks is provided later.
