The purpose of the present study was to investigate the degree of awareness toward child abuse behaviors, causes of child abuse, and the necessity of the parent education for child abuse prevention in the parents of elementary school students. Four hundred fifty parents of elementary school students participated for this study. The results were as follows. First, the parents generally were aware of emotional abuse and physical abuse, but not aware of neglect. In the comparison, according to parental education level and family income, highly educated parents and high-income parents were more aware of both emotional abuse and neglect. Second, most of the parents agreed on the causes of child abuse presented in the survey except the cause of having an unexpected child. Third, most parents agreed on the necessity of parent education programs for child abuse prevention. The discussion for the results and strategies for child abuse prevention was provided.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a child abuse prevention education program for parents. Furthermore, the aim was to investigate the impact of child abuse prevention education on parents' response to positive emotion, parenting stress, and potential for child abuse. Methods: A randomized controlled pretest posttest design was used. A total of 60 participants, who were parents with children aged 1~5 and attending 8 nurseries and kindergartens located in Daegu, were recruited. They were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n=30) and a control group (n=30). The collected data were analyzed by an independent t-test, paired t-test, and χ2-test along with descriptive statistics using IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0. Child abuse prevention education for the experimental group included four modules on child rights, understanding child abuse, proper child discipline, and positive parenting attitudes. Results: The experimental group showed a significant difference in positive rumination from the control group (t=2.15, p=.036). The experimental group reported a significant difference in dampening from the control group (t=-2.49, p=.016). Additionally, the experimental group reported a significant difference in parenting stress from the control group (t=-2.12, p=.038) and also reported significant differences in child abuse potential from the control group (t=-2.26, p=.028). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that child abuse prevention education for parents can improve positive rumination, reduce dampening, and reduce parenting stress and child abuse potential. Therefore, this study is useful in demonstrating how parental susceptibility to child abuse can be decreased. Future studies should pursue long-term programs and counseling programs.
The purpose of this study was to suggest basic data for prevention of child abuse by examining the patterns and characteristics of child abuse observed at child-care centers. Data was collected by pre-service early childhood teachers majoring in child studies in an education practice session from May 1 to May 31, 2015 based on examined information and class discussion. This study shows that emotional abuse was performed most often, followed by neglect and physical abuse. Physical abuse was observed as a form of punishment and beating, whereas emotional abuse was observed in the form of force, sarcastic remarks, verbal attacks, and disregard. Neglect was observed as exclusion and indifference. Most crucial prevention against child abuse lies in teachers' personality education and concerns with their own mental health as well as children's rights education.
Purpose: This study describes the ecological variables effect on child abuse potential and the results from a prevention program for parents with disabled children aiming at decreasing child abuse potential. Method: Data was collected from 30 parents with disabled preschoolers attending an early education center in a community. The program consisted of handouts, small group lectures, support group meetings on understanding the disabled child-parents relationship, communication skill improvement, non-punitive discipline techniques, and influences of child abuse. A non equivalent pre-post test design was employed. Result: Ecological variables, and parenting self-efficacy, had a significant effect on child abuse potential in parents with a disabled child. By regression parenting self-efficacy showed(27.1 %) child abuse potential. Both parenting self-efficacy and beliefs in corporal punishment directly related to (52.0%) child abuse potential in parents. The program was effective inbringing some positive changes on pareting self-efficacy beliefs in corporal punishment, and child abuse potential toward disabled children. However, marital discord was not significantly effected. Conclusion: Child abuse prevention programs should decrease thechild abuse potential in parents. Thus I recommend a child abuse prevention program development; for parents with disabled adolescents, and teachers in disabled child education.
This study is to conducted to find out parents' level of knowledge on child sexual abuse prevention, and their demands for a parental education program on sexual abuse prevention. Two hundred and six parents of 5 to 7 year-old children in kindergartens in Kwangju and Chonnam were surveyed. Data were analyzed by using frequencies and percentages. The results are as followed Parents have obtained knowledge on sexual abuse through mass media, guiding books and so on. They were aware that communication with children is the most effective method for sexual abuse prevention. They were somewhat at a loss on exactly what to teach and how to teach the children. and complained about the lack of educational materials. They think that the age that is most appropriate for such education is between 6 and 7 year-old, and the parents and teachers are responsible for educating chi10en on sexual abuse. For the desired content of the education, they included sex, sexual abuse, and parents' coping.

The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of education for prevention of child sexual abuse (rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment etc.) of children in elementary school students. Incidences of sexual abuse in Korea is ranked 3rd in the world. Sexual abuse of children, particularly, is one of the most serious crimes that affect both the victimized children and their family. The issue related to sexual abuse of children has been ignored, and there is a lack of systematic education to prevent sexual abuse of children either for children or their parents. Furthermore, lack of knowledge and poor attitude of teachers limit their capability to provide education for sexual abuse prevention to the children. The education for teachers may change their knowledge of the sexual abuse and their attitude toward it and improve their capability in helping children. 223 Korean elementary school students participated in this study. Research design was One group pretest-posttest design. The education given to the subjects included 4 hours through the multimedia CD-ROM on the prevention of child sexual abuse. The education program was developed based on a survey. School- aged- children, parents, and teachers were interviewed to reveal their educational needs based on their experiences related to sexual abuse. This program includes such as safety education, crisis management, resource person(s), and phone numbers of available hospital. Data was collected before, during and after the education was given to the subjects, to assess their knowledge and attitude toward child sexual abuse. Two instruments were used in this study. Using Cronbach's ALPHA validity and reliability of 2 instruments were tested. The analysis of the data was done with Window SPSS 10.0 for descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA. The results of this analysis were as follows : 1. After education, the score of school nurses knowledge was higher than before(t= -4.677, p=0.000). 2. After education, the score of school nurses attitude was not higher than before (t=0.131, p=0.896). The findings from this study will provide an intervention strategy for prevention of sexual abuse in children.
This study aimed to analyse the structural relationships among family resilience, experience of child abuse prevention education, and awareness of abuse behaviors. Data were collected from 389 school parents residing A metropolitan area. The results of this study are as follows : 1) the variable of the family resilience and the experience of child abuse prevention education among school parents had positive statistic association with the awareness of abuse behaviors. 2) the experience of child abuse prevention education was found to mediate between the family resilience and the awareness of abuse behaviors. Based on these study results, several suggestions were made to improve the awareness of school parents' abuse behaviors in terms of the enhancement of their family resilience and service delivery system for child abuse prevention.
Objective: This study aims to examine the factors associated with teacher intention to report child abuse in child care centers. Methods: Data were collected from teachers at child care centers in the Jeonbuk region, using a self-administered questionnaire. In this study, 186 completed questionnaires were used to analyze the data. Results: The respondents reported their intention to report child abuse as follows: physical abuse(49.5%), emotional abuse(16.1%), sexual abuse(12.9%), and neglect(15.6%). The multiple hierarchical regression analyses revealed that participation at child abuse prevention training programs and awareness of reporting procedures were significantly associated with teacher intention to report child abuse at child care centers in Model 2. Also, attitudes towards reporting child abuse were significantly associated with teacher intention to report child abuse in Model 3. Conclusion/Implications: This study suggests evaluating chid abuse prevention training programs more accurately because the respondents who did not participate in the programs showed statistically significant higher mean scores of intention to report child abuse than who participated(1.83 vs .85). In addition, educational programs about child abuse for teachers in child care centers need to focus on changes in attitudes towards reporting child abuse, which in turn can change behavior.
