This study researched the meaning of the outdoor play spaces used by young children, as perceived by them and their teachers. For this purpose, indirect observation, nonformal interviews during the activity of young children and in-depth interviews with teachers were conducted in 3 kindergartens and 1 day care center which operate various programs. As a result, outdoor play spaces were recognized as a psychological space, expanded space and sequential space for the relationships of young children. Meanwhile, early childhood teachers perceived them as a functional space, expanded space and restricted space of the children's daily lives. It was recognized that outdoor play spaces provided the children with good and unstructured environments to reorganize their own daily pattern through expanded play and the chance to naturally form peer relationships. This suggests that the space configuration which is most suitable for child centered development is one that is formed within and by their daily lives, rather than the standardized configuration of outdoor play spaces.
Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the professional identity of elementary school health teachers. Methods: In-depth interviews with fifteen elementary school health teachers were conducted from July 2010 to August 2012. Qualitative data collected by the researcher including transcription and field notes were analyzed through an adapted methodology based on the Grounded Theory of Strauss and Corbin. Results: Fifteen categories, 35 sub-categories and 120 concepts were obtained. The key category that was consistently maintained in identity formation was 'keeping themselves being a teacher providing nursing' which has three styles, 'focusing on health education', 'combining nursing and education' and 'focusing on providing nursing care'. Conclusion: Results of this study will provide basic information for preparing manuals regarding the range of activities in school health teachers' jobs, improving promotion and merit payment systems for school health teachers, creating support programs for them, and contributing to the formation and establishment of their professional identity.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of career, burnout, and play-teaching efficacy on the job satisfaction of childcare teachers. Participants of this study were 201 childcare teachers in work-site daycare centers from the Seoul and Kyonggi areas. Collected data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA, Pearson's product moment correlation, and multiple regression with SPSS ver. 13.0. Major results of this study were as follows. First, there were significant differences in total play-teaching efficacy and total job satisfaction according to childcare teacher's career. Second, there were significant positive correlations between childcare teachers' career and their play-teaching efficacy, and between childcare teachers' play-teaching efficacy and their job satisfaction. Also, there were significant negative correlations between childcare teachers' career and their burnout, between childcare teachers' burnout and their play-teaching efficacy, and between childcare teachers' burnout and their job satisfaction. Finally, the most powerful predictor on job satisfaction was burnout. Further, childcare teachers' burnout, play-teaching efficacy, and career explained their job satisfaction. This study primarily suggests that efforts heightening childcare teachers' play-teaching efficacy as well as reducing their burnout according to their career is important in enhancing their job satisfaction.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Behavior Rating Scale for Preschool Children based on the Yonsei Open Education Curriculum. Methods: The subjects of the study were 145 children aged three to six attending a preschool affiliated with a university and their teachers. Teachers observed their children for at least two weeks and completed the Behavior Rating Scale for Preschool Children. The scale consisted of five areas and 44 items which was a five level rubric. Results: Results showed that age differences were significant and development trends were revealed in almost all items. Second, the mean between the upper and lower groups showed a significant difference. Third, the internal consistency reliability was .97 for all items and for the five areas ranged from .86 to .93. The inter-observers reliability was .84. Forth, the concurrent validity and content validity of the scale were relatively high. Conclusion/Implications: The Behavior Rating Scale for Preschool Children can be used as a valid and reliable instrument to assess preschool children's development.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of children's multiple intelligences and temperaments on their play behaviors. In order to achieve this, 155 mothers and 21 teachers of children aged 4 to 6 years old were invited to participate in an observe-reported survey. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS version 18.0. It was found that both multiple intelligences and temperament types have partial influences on play behaviors of young children; it was confirmed that among multiple intelligences of children, logical-mathematical intelligence influences onlooker behaviors in a positive way, body-kinesthetic intelligence has a positive effect on rough-and-tumble play, and musical intelligence positively affects social play during free-choice play. Also, children with a difficult temperament were more likely to participate in solitary play than children with a slow temperament. These results imply that teachers' guidance and involvement of children's play should differ by types of temperament and levels of multiple intelligence in children.
The purpose of this study was to establish the relative influences of individual variables (sex, age, temperament) and mother's psychosocial variables (maternal attitude, parenting stress, marriage satisfaction) on daily stress levels and maladjustment of young children attending at daycare centers. Subjects were 224 pairs of children and their mothers, and 18 teachers from 5 child-care centers in Gwangju City. Children were tested individually using 22-item daily stress inventory with illustrations which described certain stressful situations. Questionnaires were also administered to mothers and teachers. Collected data were subjected to Cronbach's $\alpha$, correlation and multiple regression analysis using SPSS (WIN 14.0) program. The major findings were as follows; Overall average score of children's daily stress was equivalent with the median. 'Blame and attack situation' and 'anxiety and frustrated situation' were perceived as more stressful for children than 'lose self-respect situation'. Overall average score of children's maladjustment was lower than the median. 'Overactivity' was highest among subscores of maladjustment. Age was the only significant influential factor on children's daily stress level. Sex was the most influential factor on 'overactivity', 'aggression', and 'regression' of young children. Activity and maternal stress were the second most influential factor on 'overactivity' and 'aggression', respectively.

Self compliance is for children to understand and follow the rules themselves. Second, Between compliance and violation is conflict of the rules created by different standards of class rules. Third, depending on who found the violation, violation was classified into teacher discovery, peer discovery, and acquiescence. The teacher discovery led to teacher guidance and teacher acquiescence, The peer discovery led to peer notification, peer resistance, peer punishment, and peer acquiescence. Conclusion/Implications: By looking at the compliance situation of class rules for three-year-olds, the educational implications of how to guide class rules were obtained for children.
Objective: This study designed an Augmented Reality-based intervention program for children with conflicted shyness and examined its effects on social avoidance motivation and preference for being with others. Methods: Sixteen six-year-old children were randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group. The experimental group participated in a six-week AR-based program. Both teachers and children rated social avoidance motivation and preference for being with others to evaluate the program's effectiveness. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Social avoidance motivation decreased only for the experimental group. Conversely, the control group showed increased motivation scores as reported by the children. The preference for being with others increased in the experimental group based on teacher reports. For the control group, preference scores reported by teachers and children were maintained and decreased, respectively. Conclusion/Implications: This study highlights the effectiveness of the intervention in reducing social avoidance motivation and maintaining a preference for being with others in children experiencing conflicted shyness. Furthermore, the use of AR technology provided a psychologically safe environment for them to initiate social interactions without fear of negative evaluation, highlighting its potential as a primary intervention tool for this population.
