A study on channel reliability estimation of turbo decoder for underwater acoustic channel (수중 음향 채널에서 터보 복호기의 채널 신뢰도 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Channel reliability estimation for iterative codes such as turbo codes is very important factor in time varying underwater acoustic channel, an incorrect estimation of channel reliability induced performance degradation. Therefore, this paper presents an optimal channel reliability estimation method for turbo coded FSK signal with rate of 1/3. The estimated BER algorithm is a method that can estimate the reliability of received data by comparing received data and decoded data, and we determine optimal channel reliability by using the method. In order to analyze the performance, the experiment was conducted on a lake in Munkyeong city by moving in the range of 300 m to 500 m. At the result of applying presented method to failed decoding packets, we confirm all packets are decoded successfully.

  • The paper is to evaluate for reliability of LED Channel Modules by ALTs(Accelerated Life Tests). The recently, some of KS were established by law of LED Lamps for Lighting(KS C 7651, KS C 7652 and KS C 7653), but reliability assessment methods of LED Channel Modules were not established. Therefore, the paper aided companies to test methods for accelerated life testing by themselves.

  • This article presents the behaviour and design of cold-formed steel (CFS) web-stiffened lipped channel beams that primarily fail owing to the buckling interaction of distortional and global buckling modes. The incorporation of an intermediate stiffener in the web of the lipped channel improved the buckling performance leads to distortional buckling at intermediate length beams. The prediction of the strength of members that fail in individual buckling modes can be easily determined using the current DSM equations. However, it is difficult to estimate the strength of members undergoing buckling interactions. Special attention is required to predict the strength of the members undergoing strong buckling interactions. In the present study, the geometric dimensions of the web stiffened lipped channel beam sections were chosen such that they have almost equal distortional and global buckling stresses to have strong interactions. A validated numerical model was used to perform a parametric study and obtain design strength data for CFS web-stiffened lipped channel beams. Based on the obtained numerical data, an assessment of the current DSM equations and the equations proposed in the literature (for lipped channel CFS sections) is performed. Suitable modifications were also proposed in this work, which resulted in a higher level of design accuracy to predict the flexural strength of CFS web stiffened lipped channel beams undergoing distortional and global mode interaction. Furthermore, reliability analysis was performed to confirm the reliability of the proposed modification.

  • The conventional design of bridge piers against scour uses scour equations which involve number of uncertain flow, sediments and structural parameters. The inherent high uncertainties in these parameters suggest that the reliability of piers must be assessed to ensure desirable safety of bridges against scour. In the present study, a procedure for the reliability assessment of bridge piers, installed in main and flood channels, against scour has been presented. To study the influence of various random variables on piers' reliability sensitivity analysis has been carried out. To incorporate the reliability in the evaluation of safety factor, a simplified relationship between safety factor and reliability index has been proposed. Effects of clear water (flood channel) and live bed scour (main channel) are highlighted on pier reliability. In addition to these, an attempt has also been made to explain the failure of Black mount bridge of New Zealand based on its pier's reliability analysis. Some parametric studies have also been included to obtain the results of practical interest.

  • High reliability thin film transistors are important factors for next-generation displays. The reliability of transparent a-IGZO semiconductors is being actively studied for display applications. A plasma treatment can fill the oxygen vacancies in the channel layer and the channel layer/insulating layer interface so that the device can work stably under a bias voltage. This paper studies the effect of plasma treatment on the performance of a-IGZO TFT devices. The influence of different plasma gases on the electrical parameters of device and its working reliability are reviewed. The article mentions argon, fluorine, hydrogen and several ways of processing in the atmosphere. Among these methods, F (fluorine) plasma treatment can maximize equipment reliability. It is expected that the presented results will form a basis for further research to improve the reliability of a-IGZO TFT.

  • Thanks to various benefits, low-cost real-time communication networks so called fieldbus have been widely used in many industrial applications including military systems, such as aircrafts, submarines, and robots. This paper presents a reliability analysis of dual-channel CAN(Controller Area Network) fieldbus which is used for controlling various equipment of submarine combat system. A submarine combat system playing a critical role to the success of missions and survivability consists of various devices including sensors/actuators and computers. Since a communication network for submarine combat system must satisfy an extremely high level of reliability, a dual channel technique is commonly adopted. In this paper, a Petri Net based reliability model for dual-channel CAN is discussed. A reliability model called generalized stochastic Petri Nets (GSPN) is built by utilizing the information on physical faults with CAN. The effectiveness of the proposed model is analyzed in terms of unreliability with respect to failure rate and repair rate.

  • In this paper, the performance of high data rate-wirelesss personal area network(HDR-WPAN) system is analyzed under multi-path indoor channel. In the analysis, Saleh and Valenzuel channel model is used for the multi-path indoor channel. From the results, HDR-WPAN system has reliability of 10-5 at Eb/No = 18.5dB in multi-path indoor channel. It is a suitable performance for high data rate personal area network applications.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of transmitter and receiver of W-CDMA system using the channel coding and space time code in downlink over ITU-R realistic channel model. We can improve the reliability of communications and increase the data rate by channel coding, and we can get a diversity gain by using the space time code over fading channels. We also apply the RAKE receiver to improve tile performance in multi-Path fading channel environment.

  • We have investigated the reliability of short channel ($L=1.5{\mu}m$) p-type ELA poly-Si TFTs under hot carrier stress. Threshold voltage of short channel TFT was significantly more shifted to positive direction than that of long channel TFT under the same stress. This result may be attributed to electron trapping at the interface between poly-Si film and gate oxide layer.

  • The output frequency of VCO(Voltage-Controlled Oscillator) with input frequency is changed if CMOS channel length and width are changed. In this paper, the electrical characteristics of VCO circuit is used as a part of FLL circuit are simulated with CMOS channel width. And the method is introduced to improve the reliability characteristics of VCO with channel width variation.
