  • In this paper, we analyzed the EMP coupling for the nonuniform transmission lines, such as twisted cables, using the chain matrix algorithm and the multi-conductor analysis. The BLT method is widely used for the EMP coupling analysis of the transmission line, however, it is difficult to apply to the nonuniform transmission lines. In order to analyze the EMP coupling of nonuniform transmission lines, the whole nonuniform transmission line is divided into incremental uniform line sections of the finite numbers, and the coupling in each small sections is now summed up to get the EMP coupling effect of the entire nonuniform transmission line. To verify the proposed EMP coupling analysis method, the result of the EMP coupling simulation is compared with the solution of BLT equations for a uniform transmission line case. The proposed method is applied to the twisted cable over ground in case of being illuminated by the HEMP in order to analyze the EMP coupling.

  • We noted a property of a stationary distribution on the matrix C, which is the covariance matrix of order statistics of standard normal distribution That is the sup norm of th powers of C is ee' divided by its dimension. The matrix C can be taken as a transition probability matrix in an acyclic Markov chain.

  • A shipyard is an Engineer To Order (ETO) company that designs and manufactures new products when orders are placed. Various tasks are concurrently performed, thereby making process management considerably important. It is particularly important to plan and control production activities because production constitutes the largest part of the overall process. Therefore, this study focuses on the development of a production planning system based on an Advanced Planning System (APS). An APS is an integrated planning system that targets supply chain processes in accordance with the principles of hierarchical planning. In this study, a Supply Chain Planning Matrix (SCP-Matrix), which is used as a guideline for APS development, is designed through analysis of shipyard cases. Then, we define the process in detail, starting from long-term production plan as the initial application, and design and implement a long-term production planning system using a component-based development.

  • The inverse dynamic equations for 5 link robot including a closed chain have been derived. The closed chain is virtually cut open, and the kinematics and dynamics of the virtual open chain robot are analyzed. The constraints are applied to the virtually cut joints by the Jacobian matrix which represents the configuration of the closed chain. The topology of tree structrued open chain robot is described by a FATHER array. The FATHER array of a link indicates the link tha tis connected in the direction of base link. Based on the inverse dynamic equations, the torque sensitivity models of the 5 link robot have been developed. The sensitivity models characterize the sensitivity of the driving torque with respect to the link parameters. All the procedures are illustrated through the 2 link robot.

  • A stable algorithm for computing the fundamental matrix (I-Q)$^{-1}$ of a Markov chain is proposed, where Q is a substochastic matrix. The proposed algorithm utilizes the GTH algorithm (Grassmann, Taskar and Heyman, 1985) which is turned out to be stable for finding the steady state distribution of a finite Markov chain. Our algorithm involves no subtractions and therefore loss of significant digits due to concellation is ruled out completely while Gaussian elimination involves subtractions and thus may lead to loss of accuracy due to cancellation. We present numerical evidence to show that our algorithm achieves higher accuracy than the ordinagy Gaussian elimination.

  • In this study, synthetic time series wind data was generated numerically using a second-order Markov chain. One year of wind data in 2020 measured by the AWS on Wido Island was used to investigate the statistics for measured wind data. Both the transition probability matrix and the cumulative transition probability matrix for annual hourly mean wind speed were obtained through statistical analysis. Probability density distribution along the wind speed and autocorrelation according to time were compared with the first- and the second-order Markov chains with various lengths of time series wind data. Probability density distributions for measured wind data and synthetic wind data using the first- and the second-order Markov chains were also compared to each other. For the case of the second-order Markov chain, some improvement of the autocorrelation was verified. It turns out that the autocorrelation converges to zero according to increasing the wind speed when the data size is sufficiently large. The generation of artificial wind data is expected to be useful as input data for virtual digital twin wind turbines.

  • For a rank-1 matrix A, there is a factorization as $A=ab^t$, the product of two vectors a and b. We characterize the linear operators that preserve rank and some equivalent condition of rank-1 matrices over a chain semiring. We also obtain a linear operator T preserves the rank of rank-1 matrices if and only if it is a form (P, Q, B)-operator with appropriate permutation matrices P and Q, and a matrix B with all nonzero entries.

  • The migration equation is modified for a three-member decay chain in the fracture and porous matrix Analytical solutions are obtained by utilizing Laplace transform the initial conditions of Delta function and Bateman equation. The concentrations for each nuclide of Np$^{237}$ -U$^{233}$ -Th$^{229}$ and U$^{234}$ -Th$^{230}$ -Ra$^{226}$ chains selected from the 4n+1 and 4n+2 chains are plotted by utilizing analytical solutions in the fracture. Retardation coefficient of the nuclides are obtained using those of the granite. The results indicate that the daughter nuclides such as U$^{233}$ , Th$^{229}$ , Th$^{230}$ and Ra$^{226}$ become important at the far field from the repository though there is very small initial inventory in the waste solid or spent fuel, for they are produced by the mother nuclides decayed in the fracture and porous matrix.

  • We persent a method for kinematic calibration of open chain mechanisms based on the product of exponentials (POE) formula. The POE formula represents the forward kinematics of an open chain as a product of matrix exponentials, and is based on a modern geometric interpretation of classical screw theory. Unlike the kinematic parameters in the POE formula vary smoothly with changes in the joint axes;ad hoc methods designed to address the inherent singularities in the D-H parameters are therefore are therefore unnecessary. After introducing the POE formula, we derive a least-squares kinematic calibration algorithm for general open chain mechanisms. Simulation results with a 6-axis open chain are presented.
