  • The method proposed by Carson contains indefinite complex integral which simulates earth return current. Although the Carson solution is proposed with power series, the solution is limited and valid at special range of frequency. We proposed a simplified Carson solution by modelling earth current path analytical method using ground transmission line return current. In this paper, we studied on trying to find the equivalent distance for earth current return path.

전송로의 직렬리앤턴스 산정 시 Carson 모델의 적용범위 검토 (Study of the Applicability of the Carson Line Model for the Series Reactance Calculation of the Power Feeding Lines with no Ground Return)

  • In this paper, it is shown that Carson's equation can still be applied for the calculation of the series reactance of transmission lines with no ground return current as well as the one with ground return. It is proved in the following method. First two voltage drop equations for three-phase three wire transmission line are derived, one without considering ground return and the other using Carson's equation. The impedance matrix of the two equations are different from each other. But if we put the condition of zero ground current, $I_a+I_b+I_c=0$, those two equations becomes the identical equations. Therefore even a transmission line is not grounded, its line parameters can still be obtained using the Carson's equation. It has been confused whether or not Carson's equation can be used for an ungrounded system. It is because where ever Carson's equation is shown in the book, it also says that the system has ground return current paths as a premise. It is also verified with EMTP studies on the test circuit.

  • What does an Irish modernist have in common with a contemporary Canadian classicist? The present paper attempts an unlikely comparison to bring out previously unnoticed facets of meaning by analyzing James Joyce's Ulysses (1922) and Anne Carson's Autobiography of Red: A Novel in Verse (1998) together. While Joyce and Carson write at different times and in different places, I suggest that they are also remarkably similar. First, both of these authors can be said to have re-invented the genre of the novel in the two aforementioned works. Second, they both set themselves the task of re-writing a Greek text, in Joyce's case Homer's Odyssey, in Carson's case Stesichoros's Geryoneis, transferring it to their own present reality. The focus of the article is to read Ulysses and Autobiography of Red together in light of their engagement with colonialism. This concept is central to both novels, as literary critics have noted. However, rather than examining the concept in the traditional sense, I use it as a platform to examine the roles that sociolinguistic colonialism, and what I call literary colonialism, play in these two innovative and groundbreaking novels. Finally, I analyze the ways in which these authors position themselves against the tradition. Comparing works by Carson and Joyce allows me to arrive at conclusions that transcend their time and apply to humanity in general.

  • Transmission line impedance calculation has been tried for obtaining exact value. The method proposed by Carson contains indefinite complex integral. Although the Carson solution is proposed with power series, the solution is limited and valid at special range of frequency. In this paper, we proposed a simplified Carson solution by analytical method using ground transmission line return current. This method calculate the transmission line impedance easily.

  • 본 논문은 지표면 위에 설치된 전력선과 통신선 사이에 발생하는 상호 인덕턴스에 대하여 분석하였다. 임의 길이의 전력선과, 지표면 위의 터미널 효과를 고려하여 그 특성을 해석하였다. Carson의 해석법을 적용하여 상호 인덕턴스에 대한 해석적 해를 유도하였으며, 수치해석을 통하여 유도한 해의 타당성을 평가하였다. 수치해석 결과, 본 논문에서 유도한 해석적 해는 전력선과 통신선이 서로 기울어지거나 평행하게 놓여 있는 것에 상관없이 타당하였으며, 이전에 발표된 결과들과 비교 검토하였다.

  • 디지털 시대인 21세기는 시각 정보 디자인의 중요성이 과거의 그 어느 때보다 요구되는 시대이며, 정보전달을 위한 가독성 위주의 전통적 개념의 타이포그래픽 디자인과, 전통적 개념에 역행하는 표현위주의 실험적인 타이포그래픽 디자인이 공존하고 있다. 타이포그래피에 관한 실험은 현대미술의 개념정립과 더불어 과거에도 있어 왔지만, 데스크탑 컴퓨터의 상용화된 기술적 발달에 힘입어 1980년대 이후에 더욱 거세게 일어나고 있다. 실험적 타이포그래픽 작업으로 90년대를 대표하는 디자이너 중의 한사람으로 각광받고 있는 데이비드 카슨(David Canon)의 작업의 생성 배경과 작품의 분석을 통해, 그의 전통시각에 역행하는 디지털 시대의 실험적 타이포그래피의 문제점과 전망에 관해 알아본다.

  • Impedance calculations of electric railway traction systems is essential to define characteristics and to design it. The self impedance is defined voltage drop rate per unit length, the mutual impedance is represented as a voltage induced to transmission line from transmission line. The self and the mutual impedance are influenced by ground return currents. The earth is considered as a semi-infinitely extended non-ideal conductor. The current of transmission line produces earth current induced magnetically and it flow through a path having minimum impedance. Carson proposed the impedance calculation formula using wave equations and magnetic field equations. Though the formula have an improper equation, that is still used as a standard impedance calculation method. This paper introduced an impedance calculation method that the complex depth of earth return method assumes that the current in conductor returns through an imagined earth depth path located directly under original conductor at a depth of. In this paper, we showed that this proposed method has a closed form and is easier than Carson's.

  • A midline or median cleft lip is rare, and a midline cleft associated with a unilateral cleft and a proboscis-like structure is rarer still. We present a case managed at our center in which a 5-year-old male had a median cleft of the upper lip with an associated 'proboscis' and a microform unilateral cleft lip.

PRICING AMERICAN LOOKBACK OPTIONS UNDER A STOCHASTIC VOLATILITY MODEL

  • In this study, we deal with American lookback option prices on dividend-paying assets under a stochastic volatility (SV) model. By using the asymptotic analysis introduced by Fouque et al. [17] and the Laplace-Carson transform (LCT), we derive the explicit formula for the option prices and the free boundary values with a finite expiration whose volatility is driven by a fast mean-reverting Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. In addition, we examine the numerical implications of the SV on the American lookback option with respect to the model parameters and verify that the obtained explicit analytical option price has been obtained accurately and efficiently in comparison with the price obtained from the Monte-Carlo simulation.
