This study is to identify quantitatively the function of carbon dioxide emissions reduction due to temperature and energy reduction according to direct carbon dioxide storage, shade provision, and evaportanspiration of urban park. According to the result of study, landscape tree indicated high carbon dioxide storage effect compare to bush, in which broadleaf tree indicated higher storage function than coniferous tree. It is believed to be the storage of carbon dioxide can be increased by increasing the composition rate of forest plants in the urban park. According to the direct estimation result of carbon dioxide storage in terms of example area, storage of carbon dioxide is estimated to be "seoul a zone" $476,818.8kg{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$, "anyang b zone" $186,435.7{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$, "daejeon c zone" $262,826{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$, "kwangju d zone" $231,657.8{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$. The carbon dioxide storage per unit area estimated to be "seoul a zone" $3.4{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$, "anyang b zone" $5.0{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$, "daejeon c zone" $2.6{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$, "kwangju d zone" $5.6{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$. The result of indirect carbon dioxide reduction effect estimated to be "seoul a zone" $291,603.4{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$, "anyang b zone" $165,462.4{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$, "daejeon c zone" $141,719.2{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$, "kwangju d zone" $154,803.4{\cdot}CO_2/m^2yr$. Carbon dioxide reduction potential amount through the urban park was increased to 1.6 times to 1.8 times when calculated to the indirect effect.
A twt -step carbothermal reduction scheme has been employed for the synthesis of SiC whiskers in an Ar or a H2 atmosphere via vapor-solid two-stage and vapor-liquid-solid growth mechanism respectively. It has been shown that the whisker growth proceed through the following reaction mechanism in an Ar at-mosphere : SiO2(S)+C(s)-SiO(v)+CO(v) SiO(v)3CO(v)=SiC(s)whisker+2CO2(v) 2C(s)+2CO2(v)=4CO(v) the third reaction appears to be the rate-controlling reaction since the overall reaction rates are dominated by the carbon which is participated in this reaction. The whisker growth proceeded through the following reaction mechaism in a H2 atmosphere : SiO2(s)+C(s)=SiO(v)+CO(v) 2C(s)+4H2(v)=2CH4(v) SiO(v)+2CH4(v)=SiC(s)whisker+CO(v)+4H2(v) The first reaction appears to be the rate-controlling reaction since the overall reaction rates are enhanced byincreasing the SiO vapor generation rate.
The formation of $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ compounds, i.e., $CoTiO_3$ and $CO_2TiO_4$, in a 5wt% $CoO_x/TiO_2$ catalyst after calcination at different temperatures has been characterized via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements to verify our earlier model associated with $CO_3O_4$ nanoparticles present in the catalyst, and laboratory-synthesized $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ chemicals have been employed to directly measure their activity profiles for CO oxidation at $100^{\circ}C$. SEM measurements with the synthetic $CoTiO_3$ and $CO_2TiO_4$ gave the respective tetragonal and rhombohedral morphology structures, in good agreement with the earlier XRD results. Weak Raman peaks at 239, 267 and 336 $cm^{-1}$ appeared on 5wt% $CoO_x/TiO_2$ after calcination at $570^{\circ}C$ but not on the catalyst calcined at $450^{\circ}C$, and these peaks were observed for the $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ compounds, particularly $CoTiO_3$. All samples of the two cobalt titanate possessed O ls XPS spectra comprised of strong peaks at $530.0{\pm}0.1$ eV with a shoulder at a 532.2-eV binding energy. The O ls structure at binding energies near 530.0 eV was shown for a sample of 5 wt% $CoO_x/TiO_2$, irrespective to calcination temperature. The noticeable difference between the catalyst calcined at 450 and $570^{\circ}C$ is the 532.2 eV shoulder which was indicative of the formation of the $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ compounds in the catalyst. No long-life activity maintenance of the synthetic $Co_nTiO_{n+2}$ compounds for CO oxidation at $100^{\circ}C$ was a good vehicle to strongly sup port the reason why the supported $CoO_x$ catalyst after calcination at $570^{\circ}C$ had been practically inactive for the oxidation reaction in our previous study; consequently, the earlier proposed model for the $CO_3O_4$ nanoparticles existing with the catalyst following calcination at different temperatures is very consistent with the characterization results and activity measurements with the cobalt titanates.
For this research, they were monitored $CO_2$ flux and environmental factors ($CO_2$ concentration, soil temperature, soil moisture, soil organic carbon, soil pH, soil Eh) in foreshore, paddy field and woods sites at the winter season (January 2009) and the summer season (September 2009). Seasonal and spatial variations for monitored data were analyzed, and linear regression functions of $CO_2$ flux as environmental factors were estimated. $CO_2$ fluxes averaged between surface and atmosphere monitored in foreshore and paddy field at the winter season were shown $-8\;mgCO_2m^{-2}hr^{-1}$ and $-25\;mgCO_2m^{-2}hr^{-1}$, respectively. $CO_2$ fluxes averaged between surface and atmosphere monitored in foreshore and paddy field at the summer season were shown $47\;mgCO_2m^{-2}hr^{-1}$ and $117\;mgCO_2m^{-2}hr^{-1}$, respectively. Thus, $CO_2$ was sunk from atmosphere to surface at the winter season and it was emitted from surface to atmosphere at the summer season. $CO_2$ fluxes in woods site were emitted $145\;mgCO_2m^{-2}hr^{-1}$ at the winter season and $279\;mgCO_2m^{-2}hr^{-1}$ at the summer season.
In this study, contents of limestone in cement manufactured by six domestic plants for Portland cement were investigated in terms of the strength and its relation to the $CO_2$ emission due to limestone material and its physical properties in cement manufacturing process. the relationship among CaO content, compressive strength, and $CO_2$ emission was surveyed for the limestone quantity in decomposition reaction and the loss of limestone quantity contained in each cement. As a result of $CO_2$ emission calculation for unit cement, it was found that the $CO_2$ emission due to decomposition of limestone was occupied 67% of total emission quantity. Furthermore, there was a difference in $CO_2$ emission quantity depending on the cement manufacturing process management. Also, it was shown that fossil fuel usage and material loss had a major influence as main factors of $CO_2$ emission. An increase in the CaO content in cement resulted in an increase in the compressive strength. On the contrary, CaO content and compressive strength were reduced with the growth of loss quantity of limestone. It was verified that the material and process management were more effective than CaO yield in cement manufacturing for $CO_2$ emission with the growth of $CO_2$ emission quantity. Pozzolanic materials such as PFA and GGBS in concrete mix affected the price, $CO_2$ emission and development of strength of concrete.
We measured the changes in P-wave velocity that occur when injecting $CO_2$ in gaseous, liquid, and supercritical phases into water-saturated anisotropic sandstones. P-wave velocities were measured in two cylindrical samples of Tako Sandstone, drilled along directions normal and parallel to the bedding plane, using a piezo-electric transducer array system. The velocity changes caused by $CO_2$ injection are typically -6% on average, with maximum values about -16% for the case of supercritical $CO_2$ injection. P-wave velocity tomograms obtained by the differential arrival-time method clearly show that $CO_2$ migration behaviour is more complex when $CO_2$ flows normal to the bedding plane than when it flows parallel to bedding. We also found that the differences in P-wave velocity images were associated both with the $CO_2$ phases and with heterogeneity of pore distribution in the rocks. Seismic images showed that the highest velocity reduction occurred for supercritical $CO_2$ injection, compared with gaseous or liquid $CO_$ injection. This result may justify the use of the seismic method for $CO_2$ monitoring in geological sequestration.

In 2006, the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC) plans to undertake (subject to receiving the necessary approvals) a Pilot program for $CO_2$ storage within a depleted gas reservoir. The Otway Basin Pilot Program (OBPP) aims to demonstrate that subsurface $CO_2$ storage is both economically and environmentally sustainable in Australia. This will be the first $CO_2$ storage program in the world to utilise a depleted gas reservoir and, hence, the experience gained will be a valuable addition to the range of international $CO_2$ storage programs that are underway or being planned. A key component of the OBPP is the design of an appropriate geophysical monitoring strategy that will allow the subsurface migration of the $CO_2$ plume to be tracked and to verify that containment has been successful. This paper presents the results from modelling the predicted gravity response to $CO_2$ injection into the Otway Basin reservoir, where the goal was to determine minimum volumes of $CO_2$ that may be detectable using non-seismic geophysical techniques. Modelling results indicate that gravity measurements at 10 m spacing within the existing observation well and the planned $CO_2$ injection well would provide excellent vertical resolution, even for the smallest $CO_2$ volume modelled (10000 tonnes), but resolving the lateral extent of the plume would not be possible without additional wells at closer spacing.

We investigate magnetism and magnetocrystalline anisotropy of CoFe thin films, using VASP code in GGA. In this study Co-terminated and Fe-terminated 5-layer CoFe thin films are employed. The Co-terminated CoFe thin film shows two total energy minima at 2-dimensional lattice constants of $2.45{\AA}$ and $2.76{\AA}$. The film of $2.45{\AA}$ has fcc-like structure and the film of $2.76{\AA}$ has bcc-like structure similarly to a bulk CoFe alloy. And the fcc-like film is more stable by the energy difference of about 160 meV compared to the bcc-like film. The Fe-terminated CoFe film shows very complicated behaviour of total energy which is suspected to be closely related to its complex magnetic structure. The Co-terminated CoFe film of $2.76{\AA}$ shows perpendicular magnetocrystalline anisotropy (MCA), while the film of 2.45 does parallel MCA. The Fe-terminated CoFe film also exhibits similar MCA behaviour.

Microalgae are a promising resource in energy and food production as they are cost-effective for biomass production and accumulate valuable biological resources. In this study, CO2 assimilation, biomass, and lipid production of 4 microalgal species (Chlorella vulgaris, Mychonastes homosphaera, Coelastrella sp., and Coelastrella vacuolata) were characterized at different CO2 concentrations ranging from 1% to 9%. Microscopic observation indicated that C. vulgaris was the smallest, followed by M. homosphaera, C. vacuolata, and Coelastrella sp. in order of size. C. vulgaris grew and consumed CO2 more rapidly than any other species. C. vulgaris exhibited a linear increase in CO2 assimilation (up to 9.62 mmol·day-1·l-1) as initial biomass increased, while the others did not (up to about 3 mmol·day-1·l-1). C. vulgaris, Coelastrella sp., and C. vacuolata showed a linear increase in the specific CO2 assimilation rate with CO2 concentration, whereas M. homosphaera did not. Moreover, C. vulgaris had a greater CO2 assimilation rate compared to those of the other species (14.6 vs. ≤ 11.9 mmol·day-1·l-1). Nile-red lipid analysis showed that lipid production per volume increased linearly with CO2 concentration in all species. However, C. vulgaris increased lipid production to 18 mg·l-1, compared to the 12 mg·l-1 produced by the other species. Thus, C. vulgaris exhibited higher biomass and lipid production rates with greater CO2 assimilation capacity than any other species.
The rate constants for the aquation of $trans-[CoETECl_2]^+ \;and \;cis-{\beta}-[CoTETCl_2]^+$ and the isomerization of $trans-[CoETEClOH_2]^{2+}$ were measured by spectrophotometric method under various temperature and pressure conditions. For the aquations of $trans-[CoETECl_2]^+ \;and\; cis-{\beta}-[CoTETCl_2]^+$, the activation entropies are 4.0 eu and 5.3 eu respectively and the activation volumes are $-5.8 cm^3mol-1\; and\; -6.6 cm^3mol^{-1}$ at 40$^{\circ}C$, respectively. From these data the dissociative mechanism involving trigonal bipyramid-type intermediate is proposed for the acquation reaction. For the isomerization of $trans-[CoETEClOH_2]^{2+}\; to\; cis-{\beta}-[CoETEClOH_2]^{2+}$ the activation entropy is 9.5 eu and the activation volume is $8.4 cm^3mol^{-1}(30^{\circ}C$. The mechanism of isomerization may be considered as the dissociative mechanism with $H_2O$-dissociation.
