The characteristic of single wall carbon nanotube (SW-CNT) and herringbone nano fiber (HB-CNF) emitters was described. SW-CNT synthesized by arc discharge and HB-CNF prepared by thermal CVD were mixed with binders and conductive materials, and then were formed by screen-printing process. In order to obtain efficient field emissions, the surface treatment of rubbing & peel-off was applied to the printed CNT and CNF emitters. The basic structure of FED was of a diode type through fully vacuum packaging. Also, we proposed a new triode type of field emitter using a mesh gate plate having tapered holes and could achieve the ideal triode properties with no gate leakage currents.
The surge in demand for lithium is primarily fueled by the expanding electric vehicle market, the necessity for renewable energy storage, and governmental initiatives aimed at achieving carbon neutrality. This study proposes a straightforward method for lithium extraction utilizing cellulose nanofiber (CNF) via a vacuum filtration process. This approach yields a porous CNF film, showcasing its potential utility as a lithium extractor and indicator. Given its abundance and eco-friendly characteristics, cellulose nanofiber (CNF) emerges as a material offering both economic and environmental advantages over traditional lithium extraction techniques. Hence, this research not only contributes to lithium recovery but also presents a sustainable solution to meet the growing demand for lithium in energy storage technologies.
Purpose: This study was done to compare demographic characteristics, comorbidity, and health habits of elders with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and elders with cognitively normal function (CNF). Methods: Secondary data analysis was conducted using data from the Database of the Seoul Dementia Management Project for 5,773 adults age 60 and above. Results: The MCI group showed an older age distribution, but there was no significant education difference between the two groups. Elders with MCI had more diabetes and stroke than elders with CNF. In subgroups, the same findings were observed in women, but not in men. While more men with MCI had hypertension compared to men with CNF, there was no significant difference in hypertension between the two groups for women. Elders with MCI, men in particular, had a lower prevalence of obesity than men with CNF. MCI individuals did less exercise compared to individuals with CNF. While there were no significant differences in alcohol consumption and smoking between MCI and CNF groups, the over 80's subgroup with MCI reported more alcohol consumption. Conclusion: Findings from this study could be helpful in designing community-based dementia prevention programs and health policies to reduce the prevalence of dementia or related cognitive impairments.
Unidirectional Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) are advanced materials which combine the characteristics of the light weight, high stiffness and strength. For those reasons, the use of the unidirectional CFRP has increased in jet fighters, aerospace structures. However, unidirectional CFRP composites have a lot of problems, especially delamination, compared with traditional materials such as steels and aluminums, and so forth. Therefore, the interlaminar fracture toughness for a laminate CFRP composite is very important. In this study, The mode II interlaminar fracture toughness was measured by using center notched flexure(CNF) test specimen. The CNF specimens using unidirectional carbon prepreg were fabricated by a hot-press with the gage pressure and temperature controller. And three kinds of a/L ratio was applied to these specimens. Here, we discuss the relations of the crack growth and the mode II interlaminar fracture under the four point bending CNF test. From the results, we shows that mode II interlaminar was occurred when the more $a_0$/L ratio, the less load. And $G_{IIC}$ also were obtained as 5.33, 2.9 and $0.58kJ/m^2$ according to $a_0$/L ratio=0.2, 0.3 and 0.4.
Carbon nanofiber (CNF) is used as an electrode material for electrical double layer capacitors (EDLCs), and is being consistently researched to improve its electrochemical performance. However, CNF still faces important challenges due to the low mesopore volume, leading to a poor high-rate performance. In the present study, we prepared the unique architecture of the activated mesoporous CNF with a high specific surface area and high mesopore volume, which were successfully synthesized using PMMA as a pore-forming agent and the KOH activation. The activated mesoporous CNF was found to exhibit the high specific surface area of $703m^2g^{-1}$, total pore volume of $0.51cm^3g^{-1}$, average pore diameter of 2.9 nm, and high mesopore volume of 35.2 %. The activated mesoporous CNF also indicated the high specific capacitance of $143F\;g^{-1}$, high-rate performance, high energy density of $17.9-13.0W\;h\;kg^{-1}$, and excellent cycling stability. Therefore, this unique architecture with a high specific surface area and high mesopore volume provides profitable synergistic effects in terms of the increased electrical double-layer area and favorable ion diffusion at a high current density. Consequently, the activated mesoporous CNF is a promising candidate as an electrode material for high-performance EDLCs.

In this study, spray-drying yield and morphological characterization of spray-dried cellulose nanofibril (CNF) and TEMPO-oxidized nanocellulose (TONC) depending on spray-drying condition and surfactant addition was investigated. As spray-drying temperature increased, the yield of spray-dried CNF was increased. The highest spray-drying yields in both nanocelluloses were found at didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (DDAC) addition of 2.5 phr at all investigated temperatures. The spray-dried CNF was the sphere-like particle, but the spray-dried TONC showed both rod and sphere-like morphology. The average diameter of spray-dried CNF was decreased with increasing DDAC addition amount, resulting in the increase of specific surface area.
The characteristic of carbon nano fiber (CNF) as electron emitters was described. In order to increase effectively field emissions, the surface treatment of rubbing & peel-off was applied to the printed CNF emitters on cathode electrode. The measurements of field emission properties were carried out by using a diode structure inline vacuum chamber. CNF of herringbone type showed good emission properties that a turn on field was as low as $2.5V/{\mu}m$ and current density was as large as $0.15mA/cm^2$ of $4.5V/{\mu}m$ with electric field. After the vacuum packaged panel of 5-inch in diagonal, the measured white brightness was as high as $7000cd/m^2$ at 1900V of anode and 700V of gate voltage.
