  • DSTC(Defense Systems Test Center) in ADD(Agency for Defense Development) performs a test for various kinds of weapon system. In order to provide accurate test measurement data relating to the weapon system's performance with customer, A reliable test process and an objective analysis of the measurement data are required. DSTC is trying to apply CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) Ver 1.2 in a test process. In this paper, we present the result of CMMI Engineering Process Area Modelling of Test Process.

  • There are always many kinds of risks in software development such as frequent changes of requirements. Especially those risks related to the software characteristic of non-visibility can be threat to the project success. That lead us to the need of process implementation to reduce and minimize those risks. Although, most of the organization recognizes the importance of risk management, actual implementation requires professional knowledge in this area. CMMI, the de facto standard in process reference model, also emphasizes on risk management process area but only provides goals and practices to be implemented, not detail procedure and methods. In this paper, we developed Risk management implementation model based on IDEAL, the process improvement model based on CMMI. The proposed model will help the organizations to implement risk management process which is proper to their situation in the factor of organization size and project characteristics.

  • In order to make high quality software and high reliability software, systematic development management and organizational support are essential needed. Since 1990's Software process models such as ISO/IEC 15504 and CMMI have been used to improve organization capability. But these models have problems that are used to apply on large scaled organization or large project and so many practices are actually required. We present characteristics of ISO/IEC 15504, CMMI and K-model can easily apply to small and medium sized business or project, and propose the standard quality metric and accreditate procedure based on K-model for measuring quantitative quality level.

  • In the characteristics of CMMI architectures and components, there are many relations among CMMI practices. The organizations can be more efficiently improving their processes if they understand relationship among CMMI practices. However, there are no researches regarding this topic yet. In this paper we analyzed the relationship between Generic Practices and Specific Practices of each process areas in CMMI Maturity Level 2 by using Chi-square test of independence. As a result, we demonstrated that 10 Generic Practices in each process area are related 17 out of 48 Specific Practices (35% relationship). Using this result to improve the organization's processes, we achieved a significant improvement of 36.5% in CMMI appraisal result.

  • In order to The certification of CMMI level is positioned as the most important part of software development company competitiveness. From that point, you will be able to find the various CMMI based process improvement activities of the companies in the above. This paper presents the activity method, such as organization, process application method for the CMMI based process improvement, through the field application. Based on that, this paper enables you to understand the model application method. And we also carry out the application case analysis of defect management with the schedule/effort analysis and colleague's check activity to show the improvement effectiveness, based on the quantitative analysis. And we present the problem and improvement part of real application. The result of this paper will be used to understand the effectiveness of quantitative process management, mentioned in the CMM. And furthermore, we also expect this paper to be useful for the organization to improve the process based on CMM in the future.

  • As we detect defects and eliminate them in early stages, we can make better quality software. For doing this task, we need to use a defect tracking system which con effectively track and manage defects that give severe effects on software quality. Those existing defect tracking systems have some weaknesses as we apply them to organizations that use CMMI for process improvements. Major problems of those systems are that they require the organizations to collect many types of defect data at a time without providing the proper explanation and even without the support of defect management process. The organizations at CMMI maturity level 2 and 3 have problems for analyzing those defects because there is no specific process area at CMMI maturity level 2 and 3 which directly handles defect managing activites. This paper resolves those problems by developing a defect tracking system which offers methods of managing defects. And the system provides guidelines of which defects should be gathered for each CMMI mathurity levels. The system also has functions to generate various status and statistic information on defects, and to assign defect data to the person in charge so that he or she track the defect to the closure

  • CMMI is composed of 22 process areas by 5 maturity levels and each process area consists of specific goals and generic goals. Since there are many relations among process areas, organizational standard processes tend to contain overlapped contents. In this paper we demonstrated that 60 out of 528 specific goals are highly related (11% relationship) in CMMI maturity level 3 process areas by using pearson correlation analysis and proposed to a scheme for defining organizational standard processes based on the results. As a result of defining organizational standard processes by using proposed a scheme, we achieved a significant improvement of 25% in process defining productivity.

CMMI-DEV(Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development, version 1.2)모델을 기반으로 IT 프로젝트를 수행하는 많은 조직에서 소프트웨어 개발시 실제 CMMI-DEV 모델을 적용하여 IT 프로젝트의 위험관리를 수행하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 CMMI-DEV 모델의 RSKM(Risk Management) 프로세스와 PMBOK(Project Management Body of Knowledge, 4th Edition)의 위험관리 지식영역(Knowledge Area)을 프로세스의 지속적인 개선을 위하여 PDCA(Plan-Do-Check-Action) Cycle의 각 단계별 목적에 맞게 통합(Integration)시켜 IT 프로젝트를 위한 개선된 위험관리 프로세스를 제안하였다. 제안 프로세스의 개선효과를 검증하고 분석하기 위하여 측정지표를 제시하였으며, 개선 프로세스의 적용 전후 결과를 정량적으로 비교 및 분석함으로써 개선효과를 도출하였다.

  • The XP, the representative methodology of Agile software development, maximizes the effectiveness of the development by focusing on development itself and using primitive and basic process definition that can be easily implemented in the fields. However, the most of XP's practices came from those of engineering and the manogement practices of work product tend to be overlooked. The research on the implementation of those manogement practices has not been performed enough. Because of deficiency of processes that guide the change control over major baselines of work product and that describe proper continuous integration and refactoring in XP, the integrity of those work products is difficult to be guaranteed. To fulfill this work product integrity, CM(configuration manogement) should be hired and CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) is considered to be the best references for that purpose, CMMI defines the required practices of CM and leave implementation details to the organization so that it could customize those practices based on the characteristics of its development methods. The CM process implementation guidelines based on CMMI could provides work product integrity with a way of keeping XP's agility that includes continuous integration, refactoring and small release. In this research, we selected CM process factors applicable to XP among CMMI's CM practices and based on them we developed the CM implementation guidelines.

  • It is necessary to have measurement and analysis activity for managing software project. At least, every project measures time and cost in order to figure it out whether it will finish within its deadline. CMMI has Measurement and Analysis process in Maturity Level 2. In Measurement and Analysis process, Indicators for decision making in project management are defined and analysis procedure of the measurements to get the indicators are specified. Also, the way of collecting the data and storing them is also planned. Establishing efficient and effective measurement and analysis process in the organization by improving existing process is very important for project success. In this paper, we provide a method for analyzing the measurement and analysis process and improving it based on IDEAL model. It will support the organizations which are trying to adopt CMMI to establish measurement and analysis process.
