  • In this paper, a numerical method for singular perturbation problems arising in chemical reactor theory for general singularly perturbed two point boundary value problems with boundary layer at one end(left or right) of the underlying interval is presented. The original second order differential equation is replaced by an approximate first order differential equation with a small deviating argument. By using the trapezoidal formula we obtain a three term recurrence relation, which is solved using Thomas Algorithm. To demonstrate the applicability of the method, we have solved four linear (two left and two right end boundary layer) and one nonlinear problems. From the results, it is observed that the present method approximates the exact or the asymptotic expansion solution very well.

  • This paper presents a symbolic method for solving a boundary value problem with inhomogeneous Stieltjes boundary conditions over integro-differential algebras. The proposed symbolic method includes computing the Green's operator as well as the Green's function of the given problem. Examples are presented to illustrate the proposed symbolic method.

  • This paper is concerned with eigenvalues of second-order vector equations on time scales with boundary value conditions. Properties of eigenvalues and matrix-valued solutions are studied. Relationships between eigenvalues of different boundary value problems are discussed.

  • In this paper, the numerical integration method for general singularly perturbed two point boundary value problems with mixed boundary conditions of both left and right end boundary layer is presented.

  • Existence results for multiple positive solutions of two classes of boundary value problems for bilateral difference systems are established by using a fixed point theorem under convenient assumptions. It is the purpose of this paper to show that the approach to get positive solutions of boundary value problems of finite difference equations by using multi-fixed-point theorems can be extended to treat the bilateral difference systems with one-dimensional Laplacians. As an application, the sufficient conditions are established for finding multiple positive homoclinic solutions of a bilateral difference system. The methods used in this paper may be useful for numerical simulation. An example is presented to illustrate the main theorems. Further studies are proposed at the end of the paper.

  • In this paper, we apply homotopy perturbation method (HPM) for solving ninth and tenth-order boundary value problems. The suggested algorithm is quite efficient and is practically well suited for use in these problems. The proposed iterative scheme finds the solution without any discretization, linearization or restrictive assumptions. Several examples are given to verify the reliability and efficiency of the method. The fact that the proposed homotopy perturbation method solves nonlinear problems without using Adomian's polynomials can be considered as a clear advantage of this technique over the decomposition method.

  • The method of quasilinearization generates a monotone iteration scheme whose iterates converge quadratically to a unique solution of the problem at hand. In this paper, we apply the method to two families of three-point boundary value problems for second order ordinary differential equations: Linear boundary conditions and nonlinear boundary conditions are addressed independently. For linear boundary conditions, an appropriate Green\`s function is constructed. Fer nonlinear boundary conditions, we show that these nonlinearities can be addressed similarly to the nonlinearities in the differential equation.

  • In this paper, we first propose a new technique of the functional iterative methods VIM (Variational iteration method) and NHPM (New homotopy perturbation method) for solving two-point boundary value problems, and then we compare their numerical results with those of the finite difference method (FDM).
