  • In this paper, we have proposed and fabricated a two-axis rotational micro-mirror with large tilt angle. Such a micro-mirror is a key element for N$\times$N high capacity optical cross-connect switches. The micro-mirror is required to have large tilt angle to increase the capacity of the cross-connect switches. For larger micro-mirror tilt angle between the grounded mirror plate and the bottom electrode is to be large enough to provide space for the tilting of the mirror. For our proposed structure, the gap was produced in such a way that the grounded mirror plate and the bottom electrode were made separately in different substrates by using the bulk micromachining technology, and combined later by employing self-align technique. As a result, a large tilt angle has been achieved without using additional actuators. The measured tilt angles were as large as $\pm$5.5$^{\circ}$ and $\pm$8.4$^{\circ}$ in the x and y direction respectively, and the pull-in voltages for the two directions were 380 V and 275 V respectively. Finally the fabricated mirror was successfully utilized to steer the optical beam. To our knowledge, our micro-mirror has the best performance among the micro-mirrors reported internationally so far.

  • This paper investigates the behavior of precast concrete (PC) shear walls with a new vertical connections for a fast remodeling construction. The C-type vertical connections for the PC wall systems are proposed for transfer of bending moment between top and bottom walls in the vertical direction while a shear key in the center of wall is prepared to transfer shear forces by bearing action. The proposed vertical connections allows easy fabrication thanks to slots at the edges of wall in opposite directions. The plane PC wall systems subject to lateral load are compared with ordinary wall systems by investigating the effects of connection on the stiffness, strength, ductility, and failure modes of whole systems. The load-displacement relationship and influence of premature failure of connections are examined. The experimental test showed that the longitudinal reinforcing steel bars placed at the edges of walls yielded first and the ultimate deformation were terminated due to premature failure of connections. The diagonal reinforcements for efficient shear transfer in the walls were not effective. The strength and deformation obtained through the section analysis were generally in agreement with the experimental data, and indicated that. Gap opening contributed to the deformation behavior more than any other factors.

  • In this paper We measured average earnings differentials between the government and the private sector, the degree of earnings inequality within each sector, and estimated net earnings differentials between the public and private sector in 1982, 1985, 1990, 1995 and 1998, respectively. According to our estimation results, the public servants in Korea are being more paid than the private sector on the average, and have been enjoying higher net wage premium after controlling variables such as education level, job experience and occupation, etc. In terms of earning inequality within each sector, the public sector was proven to have very narrow earnings differentials between the top and the bottom, compared to quite large differentials in the private sector. Wide recognition that the public servants' compensation is lower in Korea seems quite wrong. The problem to be resolved is the earnings standardization in the public sector and the strong trend toward more equality in recent years. We recommend that the wage gap between the higher rank and the lower rank should be extended, and employment flexibility within the lower positions or ranks of the bureaucracy should be enhanced.

  • Precast culvert system is generally constructed with a series of process such as excavation, ground mitigation, placement of culverts, anti-leakage packing between adjacent culverts, post-tensioning for PS strands and backfilling. In this process inappropriate ground mitigation often causes differential settlement and, correspondingly, makes water-leakage to be occurred between adjacent boxes. This study was performed to understand the behavioral characteristics of recently proposed precast foundation plate to support precast culvert system through on-site pilot construction. The gap between two adjacent culverts, increment of earth pressure at the bottom of culvert, vertical settlement of top of the culverts were monitored using various sensors. The monitoring results showed that the proposed foundation plate provides better culvert system in the points of less gap development, earth pressure and settlement at the adjacent of two culverts.

  • In this study, we fabricated the indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO), zinc oxide (ZnO), aluminum zinc oxide (AZO). oxide and silver are deposited by magnetron sputtering and thermal evaporator, respectively transparency and energy bandgap were changed by the thickness of silver layer. To fabricate metal oxide metal (OMO) structure, IGZO sputtered on a corning 1,737 glass substrate was used as bottom oxide material and then silver was evaporated on the IGZO layer, finally IGZO was sputtered on the silver layer we get the final OMO structure. The radio-frequency power of the target was fixed at 30 W. The chamber pressure was set to $6.0{\times}10^{-3}$ Torr, and the gas ratio of Ar was fixed at 25 sccm. The silver thickness are varied from 3 to 15 nm. The OMO thin films was analyzed using XRD. XRD shows broad peak which clearly indicates amorphous phase. ZnO, AZO, OMO show the peak [002] direction at $34^{\circ}$. This indicate that ZnO, AZO OMO structure show the crystalline peak. Average transmittance of visible region was over 75%, while that of infrared region was under 20%. Energy band gap of OMO layer was increased with increasing thickness of Ag layer. As a result total transmittance was decreased.

  • In this paper, two types of thin nim bulk acoustic resonator(TFBAR) ladder filters are desisted and fabricated to analyze the effects of on-wafer inductor integration. To suppress the overmode phenomenon a 1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thick air-gap is fabricated under the TFBAR and aluminum nitride is used for piezoelectric material, while platinum is employed for the top and bottom electrodes. The Tx filter in a duplexer, which usually has a steeper skirt characteristics o the right side of the passband, is designed with four serial and two shunt resonators, namely, a 4/2 stage. Similarly, the Rx filter is devised with a 3/4 stage to create a mirrored image of the Tx filter passband characteristics. Fabricated on-wafer spiral inductors with underpass reveals the Q factor of 5~9 at 2 ㎓. Inductor integrated filters have approximately 10 to 12 ㏈ out-of-band rejection improvement, when compared to the original filters.

  • Multi-dimensional two-phase phenomena occur in many industrial applications, particularly in a nuclear reactor during steady operation or a transient period. Appropriate modeling of complicated behavior induced by a multi-dimensional flow is important for the reactor safety analysis results. SPACE, a safety analysis code for thermal hydraulic systems which is currently being developed, was designed to have the capacity of multi-dimensional two-phase thermo-dynamic phenomena induced in the various phases of a nuclear system. To validate the performance of SPACE, a two-dimensional two-phase flow test was performed with slab geometry of the test section having a scale of $1.43m{\times}1.43m{\times}0.11m$. The test section has three inlet and three outlet nozzles on the bottom and top gap walls, respectively, and two outlet nozzles installed directly on the surface of the slab. Various kinds of two-dimensional air/water flows were simulated by selecting combinations of the inlet and outlet nozzles. In this study, two-dimensional two-phase void fraction profiles were quantified by measuring the local gap impedance at 225 points. The flow conditions cover various flow regimes by controlling the flow rate at the inlet boundary. For each selected inlet and outlet nozzle combination, the water flow rate ranged from 2 to 20 kg/s, and the air flow rate ranged from 2.0 to 20 g/s, which corresponds to 0.4 to 4 m/s and 0.2 to 2.3 m/s of the superficial liquid and gas velocities based on the inlet port area, respectively.

  • This paper is concerned with the evaluation of mixing performance of a particle mixer, which consists of a vertical cylindrical vessel and a rotating impeller with several blades. We consider four design variables for the mixer blades, such as the angle, length, and number of blades, and the gap between the blades and the vessel bottom. The particle mixing process due to the impeller rotation is simulated using the discrete element method, and the mixing performance is quantitatively evaluated by introducing a mixing index. Analyzing the main effects and interactions of the four design variables through the design-of-experiments approach, it is concluded that the blade angle has the most dominant influence on the mixing performance whereas the gap has no significant influence. In addition, we determine the best combination of design parameters to maximize the mixing performance.

  • An air-gap type FBAR was designed using Leach equivalent model for analyzing a vertical structure of the FBAR. For the top electrode, Pt, and the bottom electrode, Au, of $1.2{\mu}m$ thickness and the piezoelectric of 0.8,urn thickness, the resonance and anti-resonance occurred at 2.401 GHz and 2.460 GHz, respectively. $S_{11}$ was increased and $S_{21}$ was decreased as the resonance area of FBAR was widened. We observed the characteristics of insertion loss, bandwidth and out-of-band rejection of ladder-type FBAR BPF by changing resonance areas of series and shunt resonators and by adding stages. As the resonance area of series resonator was increased, insertion loss was improved but out-of-band rejection was degraded. And as the resonance area of shunt resonator was increased, insertion loss was degraded a little but out-of-band rejection was improved even without adding stages. We, also, changed the shape of the resonance area from square shape to rectangle shape to examine the effects of the resonator shape on the characteristics of the BPF. The best performances were observed when the sizes of series and shunt resonator are $150{\mu}m{\times}l50{\mu}m\;and\;5{\mu}m{\times}50{\mu}m$, respectively. Out-of-band rejection was improved about 10dB and bandwidth was broadened from 30MHz to 100MHz utilizing inductor tuning on $2{\times}2\;and\; 4{\times}2$ ladder-type BPFs.

  • The aim of the research is analyzing the simple adiabatic temperature rising properties and the heat of hydration based on different placing timing of the mass concrete depending on various replacing ratios of blast furnace slag to comparative analyze the thermal cracking index and cracking possibility. As a result from the experiment, a suggested adiabatic temperature rising equation based on various blast furnace slag replacing ratios can be provide favorable correlation with over 0.99 of $R^2$ value by applying the initial induction period. With this relationship, more accurate prediction of the amount of the hydration heat rising and heating timing, and it is known that there is an approximately $13.1^{\circ}C$ of gap between plain concrete without blast furnace slag and concrete with 80 % of replacing blast furnace slag. To control the setting time and heat rising gap, the mix designs between top and bottom concrete casts were changed 15 cases, and D, E, H, I, and L models of controlling the heat of hydration showed 41.23 to $46.88^{\circ}C$ of core temperature and 0.98 to 1.27 of thermal cracking index. Therefore the cracking possibility was 15 to 52 % of favorable results of possibly controlling both the cracking due to the internal and external retainment and concrete temperature at early age.
