  • S The need for an automated geo-positioning approach for near real-time results and to boost cost-effectiveness has become increasingly urgent. Following this trend, a new approach to automatically compensate for the bias of the rational function model (RFM) was proposed. The core idea of this approach is to remove the bias of RFM only using tie points, which are corrected by matching with the digital elevation model (DEM) without any additional ground control points (GCPs). However, there has to be a additional evaluation according to the quality of DEM because DEM is used as a core element in this approach. To address this issue, this paper compared the quality effects of DEM in the conduct of the this approach using the Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) DEM with the spatial resolution of 90m. and the National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) DEM with the spatial resolution of 5m. One KOMPSAT-2 stereo-pair image acquired at Busan, Korea was used as experimental data. The accuracy was compared to 29 check points acquired by GPS surveying. After bias-compensation using the two DEMs, the Root Mean Square (RMS) errors were less than 6 m in all coordinate components. When SRTM DEM was used, the RMSE vector was about 11.2m. On the other hand, when NGII DEM was used, the RMSE vector was about 7.8 m. The experimental results showed that automated geo-positioning approach can be accomplished more effectively by using NGII DEM with higher resolution than SRTM DEM.

  • In this paper, The method to improve the mass production method of the radar sensor is suggested by using the temperature compensation circuit which is composed with the thermister. The mass production became easier by decreasing the adjustment time for the exact oscillation frequency with the temperature compensation circuit that can support the proper gate bias voltage for the FET after the dielectric resonator is removed from the DRO(Dielectric Resonator Oscillator) of the radar sensor. Radar sensor with the proposed method has 15.67MHz oscillator frequency variation in the temperature range of $-20^{\circ}C-+55^{\circ}C$, 0.65dB magnitude variation, -105.47dBc phase noise characteristics at 1MHz which are better or similar temperature characteristics with the DRO whose oscillator frequency variation is 25MHz, magnitude variation is 0.42dB and phase noise is -107.40dBc in the same temperature range.

  • In general, open-loop fiber-optic gyroscopes (FOG) are less stable than closed-loop FOGs but they offer simpler implementation. The typical operation time of line-of-sight (LOS) stabilization systems is a few seconds to one hour. In this paper, a open-loop fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) for LOS applications is designed and implemented. The design goal is aimed at implementing a low cost, compact FOG with low Angle Random Walk (ARW) (< $0.03deg/\sqrt{h}$) and bias instability (< 0.25deg/h). The FOG uses an open-loop all-fiber configuration with 100M PM fiber wound on a small diameter spool. In order to get the design goal, digital signal processing techniques for signal detection, modulation control and compensation are designed and implemented in FPGA.

  • In general, the information of inertia properties is required to control a spacecraft. The inertia properties are changed by some activities such as consumption of propellant, deployment of solar panel, sloshing, etc. Extensive estimation methods have been investigated to obtain the precise inertia properties. The gyro-based attitude data including noise and bias needs to be compensated for improvement of attitude control accuracy. A modified estimation method based on the law of conservation of angular momentum is suggested to avoid inconvenience like filtering process for noise-effect compensation. The conventional method is modified and beforehand estimated moment of inertia is applied to improve estimation efficiency of product of inertia. The performance of the suggested method has been verified for the case of STSAT-3, Korea Science Technology Satellite.

  • A voltage-programming pixel circuit, which compensates the threshold voltage shift of TFTs and the degradation of OLED, is proposed for large sized a-Si:H active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) applications. Considering threshold voltage variation (or shift), OLED degradation and reverse bias annealing, HSPICE simulation results indicate that luminance error of every gray level is less than 0.4 LSB under the condition of +1V threshold voltage shift and from -0.2 LSB to 2.6 LSB within 30% degradation of OLED in the case of 40-inch full HDTV condition.

  • A novel data driver for passive matrix organic lightemitting devices (PM-OLEDs) with high gray scale images was designed. The proposed circuit consisted of a main current bias circuit as well as sample & hold circuits in each channel of the data driver to compensate a current offset. These results indicate that a data driver designed by using the current offset compensation technique holds promise for poten tial applications in PM-OLED displays with high gray scale images.

  • This paper presetns the development of a SSPA operating at KU-band(14~14.5 GHz) in order of replace TWTA used in the terrestria transponder of a satellite communication. The driving stage of SSPA uses internally matched 2W, 4W, 8W FET and the power stage is coupled with two internally matched 8W FET by branch-line cominer. The SSPA is fabricated with oth the RF circuit and the bias circuitry operating temperature compensation, regulation and sequence on aluminum housing. The SSPA testing resutls implemented in this way show 24.8$\pm$1dB small-signal gain, 41dBm P1dB power, a typical two tone C/IM3, -33dBc with single carrier backed off 6dB from p1dB, and gain stability over temeprature (-30~50)$\pm$1dB.

  • Recent adoption of the generalized sensor model to IKONOS and Quickbird satellite imagery have promoted various research activities concerning alternative sensor models which can replace conventional physical sensor models. For example, there are the Rational Function Model(RFM), the Direct Linear Transform(DLT) and the polynomial transform. In this paper, the DLT model which uses just a few number of GCPs was suggested. To evaluate the accuracy of the proposed DLT model, the RFM using 35 GCPs and the bias compensation method(Fraser et al., 2003) were compared with it. Quantitative evaluation of 3B positioning results were performed with independent check points and the digital elevation models(DEMs). In result, a 1.9- to 2.2-m positioning accuracy was achieved for modeling and DEM accuracy is similar to the accuracy of the other model methods.

  • The proposed inertial measurement unit (IMU) is composed of accelerometers only. It can determine a vehicle's position and attitude, which is the Gyro-free INS. The Gyro-free INS error is deeply affected by the sensor bias, scale factor and misalignment. However, these parameters can be obtained in the laboratory. After these misalignments are corrected, the Gyro-free strap-down INS could be more accurate. This paper presents a compensator design for the strap-down six-accelerometer INS to correct misalignment. A calibration experiment is taken to get the error parameters. A simulation results show that it will decrease the INS error to enhance the performance after compensation.
