  • We study Bayesian estimates for finite population proportions in multinomial problems. To do this, we consider a three-stage hierarchical Bayesian model. For prior, we use Dirichlet density to model each cell probability in each cluster. Our method does not require complicated computation such as Metropolis-Hastings algorithm to draw samples from each density of parameters. We draw samples using Gibbs sampler with grid method. We apply this algorithm to a couple of simulation data under three scenarios and we estimate the finite population proportions using two kinds of approaches We compare results with the point estimates of finite population proportions and their standard deviations. Finally, we check the consistency of computation using differen samples drawn from distinct iterates.

  • This paper derives noninformative priors for scale parameter of exponential distribution when the data are collected in multiple step stress accelerated life tests. We nd the objective priors for this model and show that the reference prior satisfies first order matching criterion. Also, we show that there exists no second order matching prior. Some simulation results are given and using artificial data, we perform Bayesian analysis for proposed priors.

  • Metabolic syndrome is a serious disease that can eventually lead to various complications, such as stroke and cardiovascular disease. In this study, we aimed to identify the risk factors related to metabolic syndrome for its prevention and recognition and propose a nomogram that visualizes and predicts the probability of the incidence of metabolic syndrome. We conducted an analysis using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Survey (KNHANES VII) and identified 10 risk factors affecting metabolic syndrome by using the Rao-Scott chi-squared test, considering the characteristics of the complex sample. A naïve Bayesian classifier was used to build a nomogram for metabolic syndrome. We then predicted the incidence of metabolic syndrome using the nomogram. Finally, we verified the nomogram using a receiver operating characteristic curve and a calibration plot.

  • It has been issued that the irreconcilability of the classical test for a point null and standard Bayesian formulation for testing such a point null. The infimum of the posterior probability of the null hypothesis is used as measure of evidence against the null hypothesis in Bayesian approach; here the infimum is over the family of priors on the alternative hypotheses which includes all density that are a priori reasonable. For iid observations from a multivariate normal distribution in $\textit{p}$ dimensions with an unknown mean and a covariance matrix propotional to the Identity we consider the difference and the Wolfowitz distance of the distributions of the P-value and the lower bound of the posterior probability over the family of all normal priors. The Wolfowitz distance is interpreted as the average difference of the quantiles of the two distrbutions.

  • Bayesian probability models for finite populations are considered assuming so-called the super-population. We find the posterior distribution of population mean by a new approach, using the concept of pivotal quantity for the small sample case. A large sample theory is also treated throught the concept of asymptotically pivotal quantity.

  • Football match predictions are of great interest to fans and sports press. In the last few years it has been the focus of several studies. In this paper, we propose the Poisson regression model in order to football match outcomes. We applied the proposed methodology to two national competitions: the 2012-2013 English Premier League and the 2015 Brazilian Football League. The number of goals scored by each team in a match is assumed to follow Poisson distribution, whose average reflects the strength of the attack, defense and the home team advantage. Inferences about all unknown quantities involved are made using a Bayesian approach. We calculate the probabilities of win, draw and loss for each match using a simulation procedure. Besides, also using simulation, the probability of a team qualifying for continental tournaments, being crowned champion or relegated to the second division is obtained.
