Nursing Students who have Experienced by Clinical practice Recognition type of Core Fundamental Nursing skills (임상실습을 경험한 간호대학생의 핵심기본간호술에 대한 인식유형)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the types of recognition of core basic nursing skills of nursing students who have experienced clinical practice with Q methodology. The subjects of this study were 34 nursing students of graduate school who had clinical practice using 34 Q samples The data were analyzed by PC-QUAN program. As a result of the research, 1 type 'behavior - centered', core basic nursing is recognized to be performed correctly according to nursing situation, 2 types of 'future preparation type' are core nursing, And 3 types of 'dependent learning type' were categorized as recognizing that sufficient learning is required in school for accurate nursing practice. Analysis of each type will contribute to providing basic data for establishing an effective educational strategy.

Priorities Analysis of NCS Vocational Key Competence of Nurse using AHP Method (AHP기법을 활용한 간호사의 NCS직업기초능력 우선순위 분석)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the research is understand the priorities of national competency standards vocational key competence factors in nurse who is work in Seoul and Incheon. Methods: The design of this study is descriptive investigation research, and the subjects were 144 nurse. we establish the vocational key competency defined in national competency standards as analytic hierarchy analysis model. The vocational key competency has 10 categories and 34 sub-categories. And based on the survey in nurse, the weight representing relative importance of each factor were calculated by using analytic hierarchy process method. Results: The analytic hierarchy process analysis on 10 categories showed that professional ethics(0.149) was higher than any other categories while that of numeracy(0.040) was at the bottom. And the analysis on sub-categories revealed that the most important factors in each categories included the Ethical community(Professional ethics), Conflict management skills(Interpersonal skills), Problem solving capability(Problem-solving skills), Listening skills(Communication skills), Applicable technical skills(Technical skills), Ability to understand business(Ability to understand organizational structures), Information processing capabilities(Information capacity), Self-management skills(Self-development capability), Ability to manage time(Resource management capabilities), Basic math skills(Numeracy). Conclusions: The results in this study can be used as basic data for the development of liberal arts curriculum for Nursing.

Experiences of convergence external appraisal of competency in core basic nursing skills in final year nursing students (졸업학년 간호학생의 핵심기본간호술 역량에 대한 융합적 외부평가 경험)

  • This is a qualitative study to explore the experiences of convergence external appraisal of competency in core basic nursing skills in final year nursing students. Eight nursing students who experienced the evaluation were intentionally sampled. Data were analyzed using constant comparative and categorical content analysis after collecting data through focus group interview. The results of this study showed that nursing students sublimated mental stress such as burden and pressure of the evaluation into a positive experience that they skillfully improved their nursing skills through mind control and cooperation with peers. Therefore, this study enabled us to understand the experience of students receiving external appraisal. In addition, intervention studies to alleviate mental stress on convergence external appraisal are needed.

Relationship Between Clinical Reasoning Competence, Critical Thinking Propensity and Confidence in Performing Core Basic Nursing Skills of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 임상추론역량, 비판적 사고 성향과 핵심기본간호술 수행자신감의 관계)

  • This study try to confirm the relationship between clinical reasoning competence, critical thinking propensity, and confidence in performing core basic nursing skills among nursing students. The subjects of the study were 157 third and fourth year nursing students at D University in Daejeon, and the survey was conducted through a self-questionnaire from Nov. 2 to Nov. 15, 2022. The collected materials were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN26.0 program. The results showed the correlation between clinical reasoning competence and critical thinking propensity (r=.417, p<.001), clinical reasoning competence and core basic nursing performance confidence (r=.659, p<.001), critical thinking propensity and core basic nursing performance confidence (r=.303, p<.001). Therefore, the results of this study can be used as a basis for developing various curriculums to increase the confidence of nursing college students in performing core basic nursing techniques.

A Study of Convergence on Experiences of Clinical Performance and Self-Confidence of Core Basic Nursing Skills, Clinical Competence in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 핵심기본간호술의 임상수행경험, 수행자신감, 임상수행능력에 관한 융복합적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify experiences of core basic nursing skills(CBNS), self-confidence during clinical practice and clinical competence in 208 nursing students attending nursing department and understand which factor, either experiences of CBNS or self-confidence during clinical practice has an impact on clinical competence. Our research findings are as follows. There was a positive correlation between experiences of CBNS, self-confidence during clinical practice and clinical competence. The factor that had the biggest impact on clinical competence was self-confidence during clinical practice and the explanation power of both factors was 31.2%, based on multiple regression analysis. Based on these findings, nursing educate need to develop a curriculum to increase self-confidence during clinical practice in students.

Convergence Study on the Factors Influencing Confidence in Performing Core Basic Nursing Skills in Lower-Class Nursing Students (저학년 간호대학생의 핵심기본간호술 수행자신감 영향요인의 융합적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing confidence in performing core basic nursing skills(CBNS) for low-grade nursing students. The data were collected from 213 nursing students from one nursing college located in G do from November 25 to December 4, 2020. Data were analyed by frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression using SPSS 21.0. Differences in confidence in performing CBNS according to general characteristics were university life satisfaction, practical satisfaction, academic achievement, and interpersonal relationship. Confidence in performing CBNS was significant positive correlation with self-efficacy, major satisfaction, and learning attitude. The factors influencing confidence in performing CBNS were self-efficacy and learning attitude, and explanatory power was 32.5%. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop learning strategies and educational programs and verify the effectiveness of lower class nursing students to increse their confidence in performing CBNS.

Strategy for Improving Core Nursing Competency-based Education (핵심간호역량 기반 교육과정 개선 전략)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the core competencies of nursing students and to improve competency-based nursing education. Methods: A triangulation method was used. A literature review and focus group interviews (FGI) were used to identify nursing core competencies. The present level of nursing competencies of students was identified through the nursing core performance questionnaire. Results: 1) Nursing core competencies, including 23 different competencies, were categorized into seven areas through a literature review and qualitative research. These competencies included: desirable personality, attitude & interpersonal skills, professionalism, nursing knowledge & basic nursing skills, ability to cope with nursing situations, basic ability in nursing research, coping ability with changes in the healthcare environment, and leadership. 2) Core nursing skills, nursing research, and nursing leadership were the three lowest ranking competencies. Some courses in the curriculum were to be newly established in an e-learning system, student's portfolio in non-curriculum. Conclusions: Further research is needed in order to show effects of the changes. Changes after applying the strategy of a nursing education program will be measured. Continuous research in competency-based nursing education is needed.

Nurse's Communication Skills as Perceived by the Parents of Inpatients (입원 환아 부모가 지각한 간호사의 의사소통 기술)

  • Purpose: This study is descriptive survey research that examined nurses' communication skills perceived by inpatient children's parents for short period due to acute diseases in children's hospital and aimed to make a qualitative improvement of nursing with the basic materials for improving nursing service for inpatient children. Methods: The subjects were 177 parents of children who were hospitalized in a children's hospital in Gwangju from May 1 to June 16, 2009. A structured questionnaire which consisted of a communication and interpersonal skills developed by Yodkowsky et al. (2006). Data collected from them were processed and analyzed with the SPSS/WIN program. Results: Nurses' communication skills as perceived by the parents of inpatients scored an average 4.11, communication scored 4.02, and interpersonal relationship scored 4.18. The scores of interpersonal relationship were mostly higher. Nurses' communication skills as perceived by the parents of inpatients according to general characteristics showed statistically significant differences depending on the number of children and the birth order. Conclusion: it was considered that nurses' emotional characteristics were important for inpatient children. it is thought that the positive communication skills considering the emotional aspects in planning and performing nursing for inpatient children should be achieved.

The Effects of OSCE Application Before Clinical Practice for Nursing Students (임상실습 전 간호학생에게 적용한 OSCE 프로그램 효과)

  • Purpose: The study was done to identify the effects of OSCE program prior to clinical practice for nursing students and to find out the weakest area of fundamental nursing skills. Methods: Study design was methodological triangulation. Qualitative analysis was done to derive nursing students' OSCE experiences using OSCE reflection note. Level of basic nursing skill acquirement was identified by quantitative method. Results: Four themes and 10 sub-categories emerged: (a) confidence and interests in nursing being increased, (b) being encouraged by mentor and evaluator, (c) requiring much effort to learn nursing skill, (d) being aware of themselves and understanding others in their shoes. Results of analysis of OSCE application score record showed as followings ; Intravenous injection(92.6%), Intramuscular injection(89.5%), Foley catheterization(85.2%), Vital sign(81.5%): BP check(63.0%) Respiration check(50.0%), Health assessment: respiration sound auscultation(33.3%) heart sound auscultation(44.4%). Conclusion: OSCE program application before frist clinical nursing practice was effective in terms of fundamental nursing skills learning. It is necessary to reinforce nursing skills based on the study results.

The Influence of Clinical Competency and Confidence in Essential Nursing Skills on Nursing Professionalism in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 임상수행능력과 핵심간호술 수행자신감이 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study aims to examine factors affecting nursing professionalism among nursing students. Methods: Data were collected using a structured questionnaire from July to August, 2022. The participants were a total of 266 students in the 3rd and 4th grades located in A and C cities. T-test, ANOVA, Scheffe' test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression were used for data analysis using SPSS 24.0 program. Results: The average score for clinical competency was 4.05±0.59 (out of 5), confidence in essential nursing skill was 3.52±0.64 (out of 5), and nursing professionalism was 4.11±0.52 (out of 5). There was a positive correlation between clinical competency and confidence in essential nursing skills with nursing professionalism. The factors influencing nursing professionalism were clinical competency and grade, which explained 30% of nursing professionalism. Conclusion: The results of this study may be used as basic data for developing educational methods to improve nursing professionalism.
