AN OVERVIEW OF BDF2 GAUGE-UZAWA METHODS FOR INCOMPRESSIBLE FLOWS

  • The Gauge-Uzawa method [GUM] in [9] which is a projection type algorithm to solve evolution Navier-Stokes equations has many advantages and superior performance. But this method has been studied for backward Euler time discrete scheme which is the first order technique, because the classical second order GUM requests rather strong stability condition. Recently, the second order time discrete GUM was modified to be unconditionally stable and estimated errors in [12]. In this paper, we contemplate several GUMs which can be derived by the same manner within [12], and we dig out properties of them for both stability and accuracy. In addition, we evaluate an stability condition for the classical GUM to construct an adaptive GUM for time to make free from strong stability condition of the classical GUM.

비선형 천장 크레인시스템의 위치제어 알고리즘 개발 (Development of the Position Control Algorithm for Nonlinear Overhead Crane Systems)

  • An overhead crane system which transports an object by girder motion, trolley motion, and hoist motion becomes a nonlinear system because the length of a rope changes. To develope the position control algorithm for the nonlinear crane systems, we apply a nonlinear optimal control method which uses forward and backward difference methods and obtain optimal inputs. This method is suitable for the overhead crane system which is characterized by the differential equation of higher degree and swing motion. From the results of computer simulation, it is founded that the position of the overhead crane system is controlled, and the swing of the object is suppressed.

  • A high-order discontinuous Galerkin method for the two-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations was developed on unstructured triangular meshes. For this purpose, the BR2 methd(the second Bassi and Rebay discretization) was adopted for space discretization and an implicit Euler backward method was used for time integration. Numerical tests were conducted to estimate the convergence order of the numerical solutions of the Poiseuille flow for which analytic solutions are available for comparison. Also, the flows around a flat plate, a 2-D circular cylinder, and an NACA0012 airfoil were numerically simulated. The numerical results showed that the present implicit discontinuous Galerkin method is an efficient method to obtain very accurate numerical solutions of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations on unstructured meshes.

  • This paper calculates and gives the analysis of electron swarm transport coefficients as described electric conductive characteristics of pure Ar, pure $SiH_4$, $Ar-SiH_4$ mixture gases ($SiH_4$--0.5%, 2.5%, 5%) over the range of E/N =$0.01{\sim}300$[Td], P=0.1, 1, 5.0[Torr] by Monte Carlo the Backward prolongation method of the Boltzmann equation using computer simulation without using expensive equipment. The results have been obtained by using the electron collision cross sections by TOF, PT SST sampling, compared with the experimental data determined by the other author. It also proved the reliability of the electron collision cross sections and shows the practical values of computer simulation.

  • 본 논문은 영상복원을 역확산 과정으로 해석하여 복원된 영상을 역확산 방정식의 해로 구하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 역확산 과정은 물리적으로 불량위치(ill-posed)과정이기 때문에, 이를 정규화 해주어야 하는데 이를 위해서 역확산 과정을 고유함수(eigenfunction)들의 전개로 나타낸 후에 고유함수들의 계수들을 조작하였다. 본 논문에서는 계수들을 조작할 때 영상이 가지고 있는 주파수 특성을 고려하여 한계주파수(cut-off frequency)를 넘은 경우에 계수들을 시간과 주파수의 감소함수로 나타내어 불량위치문제를 해결하였다. 계수를 주파수에 대한 감소함수로 나타낸 것은 영상에 저주파 성분이 많고, 고주파 성분이 영상의 형성에 끼치는 영향이 상대적으로 적다는 영상의 특성을 고려한 것이다. 이러한 감소함수를 사용하였을 때 불량위치 문제를 해결할 수 있다는 것을 증명하였고, 실험적으로 양질의 영상을 산출함을 보였다.

QUADRATURE BASED FINITE ELEMENT METHODS FOR LINEAR PARABOLIC INTERFACE PROBLEMS

  • We study the effect of numerical quadrature in space on semidiscrete and fully discrete piecewise linear finite element methods for parabolic interface problems. Optimal $L^2(L^2)$ and $L^2(H^1)$ error estimates are shown to hold for semidiscrete problem under suitable regularity of the true solution in whole domain. Further, fully discrete scheme based on backward Euler method has also analyzed and optimal $L^2(L^2)$ norm error estimate is established. The error estimates are obtained for fitted finite element discretization based on straight interface triangles.

A New Nonlinear Feedback Controller Eventually Converges to SDRE Based Optimal Controller

  • We introduce a new stable feedback controller eventually converges to a conventional SDRE(State Dependent Riccati Equation) based optimal (suboptimal) controller. On conventional SDRE, the optimal control input should be obtained by backward integration of the SDRE at each control point. The proposed controller is given by direct forward integration of a proposed SDRE. This fact enables fast computation and easy implementation. On concerning a state dependent system, the proposed controller may be a candidate to the conventional SDRE based optimal controller if the system is slow varying with states. Though the controller is fast and easy to implement it is not able to cope with a fast varying system.   • LES results of turbulent premixed combustion flows are introduced by using the dynamic sub-grid scale model based on G-equation describing the flame front propagation. The turbulent premixed combustion flows around bluff body and over backward facing step are analyzed to validate present formation. LES of swirling partially premixed combustion flame is also performed to conform the predictive capabilities of LES model and to prompt our understanding for the combustion flows over double cone swirl burner combustor by using CFD-ACE+ commercial code.

  • Design sensitivity analysis for nonlinear structural problems has been emerged in the last decade as a glowing area of engineering research. As a result, theoretical formulations and computational algorithms have already developed for design sensitivity of nonlinear structural problems. There is not enough research for practical nonlinear problems using multi-element, due to difficulties of implementation into FEA. Therefore, nonlinear response analysis for stiffened shell which consists of Mindlin plate and Timoshenko beam, was considered. Specially, it presents the backward-Euler method which is adopted to describe an exact yield state in the stress computation procedure. Then, design sensitivity analysis of nonlinear structures, particularly elasto-perfectly-plastic structure, is developed using direct differentiation method. The accuracy of the developed sensitivity analysis was compared with the central finite difference method. Finally, on the basis of above results, design improvement for stiffened shell is suggested.
