Detailed information about the structural nature of three-coordinate borons in ${\beta}-BaB_2O_4$ is obtained through $^{11}B$ MAS NMR and $^{11}B$ single-crystal NMR. The three-coordinate $BO_3$ of the two borons B(1) and B(2) in ${\beta}-BaB_2O_4$ were distinguished. The spin-lattice relaxation time in the laboratory frame $T_1$ for B(1) and B(2) slowly decreases with increasing temperature, whereas the spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame $T_{1{\rho}}$ for B(1) and B(2), which differs from $T_1$, is nearly constant. The B(1) and B(2) of the two types were distinguished by $^{11}B$ MAS NMR and $^{11}B$ single-crystal NMR.

The purpose of this study was to determine the vitamin B₁ and B₃ contents in 135 Korean domestic foods using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The Standard Reference Material (SRM) 3233 and in-house control (grain, whole wheat and flour mixture) were used for quality control/assurance. As a result, vitamin B₁ was only detected in 54 of the 135 foods, ranging from 0.019 mg/100 g to 28.218 mg/100 g. Among the foods tested, the vitamin B₁ content was highest in ramen powder (28.218 mg/100 g) and lowest in boiled jjolmyeon (0.019 mg/100 g). In contrast, vitamin B₃ was detected in 108 of the 135 foods, ranging from 0.077 mg/100 g to 32.412 mg/100 g. We found that the vitamin B₃ content was highest in beef liver (32.412 mg/100 g) and lowest in boiled chicken heart (0.077 mg/100 g). The results of this study will be used as a nutritional database for the update of the Korean food composition table and will hence contribute to improving public health.

Equilibrium geometries, electronic structures, and energies of borocarbon clusters (binary compounds of carbon and boron), an unexplored class of molecules with highly unusual characteristics and potential for further development, have been investigated by means of B3LYP/6-311+G$^*$ density functional theory computations. A large number of B$_7$C${_1}^{1-}$, B$_6C_2$, and B$_5C_{3}\,^{1+}$ clusters with planar and non-planar monocyclic and polycyclic rings, as well as cage structures, have been systematically studied. Unexpectedly, planar forms are predicted not only to be the most stable structures, but also, in many cases, to have unprecedented planar heptacoordinate boron (p-heptaB) and planar heptacoordinate carbon (p-heptaC) arrangements. All these pheptaB and p-heptaC have 6π electrons and are aromatic according to the nucleus independent chemical shift (NICS). This novel bonding pattern is analyzed in terms of natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. For virtually all possible B$_7$C${_1}^{1-}$, B$_6C_2$, and B$_5C_{3}\,^{1+}$ combinations, the p-heptaB arrangements are the more stable than other type structures.

A random vector $\b{X} = (X_1,\cdots,X_n)$ is weakly associated if and only if for every pair of partitions $\b{X}_1 = (X_{\pi(1)},\cdots,X_{\pi(k)}), \b{X}_2 = (X_{\pi(k+1),\cdots,X_{\pi(n)})$ of $\b{X}, P(\b{X}_1 \in A, \b{X}_2 \in B) \geq P(\b{X}_1 \in A)\b{P}(\b{X}_2 \in B)$ whenever A and B are open upper sets and $\pi$ is a permutation of ${1,\cdots,n}$. In this paper, we develop notions of weak positive dependence, which are weaker than a positive version of negative association (weak association) but stronger than positive orthant dependence by arguments similar to those of Shaked. We also illustrate some concepts of a particular interest. Various properties and interrelationships are derived.

In this paper we characterize the isogonal and isotomic conjugates of conic. Every conic can be expressed by a quadratic rational B$\acute{e}$zier curve having control polygon $b_0b_1b_2$ with weight w > 0. We show that the isotomic conjugate of parabola and hyperbola with respect to ${\Delta}b_0b_1b_2$ is ellipse, and that the isotomic conjugate of ellipse with the weight $w={\frac{1}{2}}$ is identical. We also find all cases of the isogonal conjugate of conic with respect to ${\Delta}b_0b_1b_2$. Our characterizations are derived easily due to the expression of conic by the quadratic rational B$\acute{e}$ezier curve in standard form.

Two new species of the genus Burmoniscus collinge, 1914, B. ifugaoensis and B. taitii are described from Banaue and adjacent area, mountainous district in the northern Luzon, the Philippines. B. ifugaoensis is morphologically similar to B. novabritannicus(Vandel, 1973) and B. yunnanensis Kwon and Taiti, 1993, but is distinguished by the much elongated distal part of male pleopod 1 exopod and the peculiar setation on the distal part of male pleopod 1 endopod. B. taitii is similar to B. punctatus Taiti, Ferrara and Kwon. 1992 in the shape of male pleopod 1 endopod, but is easily distinguished by the peculiar coloration of male, the morphology of cephalon, and the shorter distal part of male pleopod 1 exopod.

In this note we study positive solutions of the mth order rational difference equation $x_n=(a_0+\sum{{m\atop{i=1}}a_ix_{n-i}/(b_0+\sum{{m\atop{i=1}}b_ix_{n-i}$, where n = m,m+1,m+2, $\ldots$ and $x_0,\ldots,x_{m-1}$ > 0. We describe a sufficient condition on nonnegative real numbers $a_0,a_1,\ldots,a_m,b_0,b_1,\ldots,b_m$ under which every solution $x_n$ of the above equation tends to the limit $(A-b_0+\sqrt{(A-b_0)^2+4_{a_0}B}$/2B as $n{\rightarrow}{\infty}$, where $A=\sum{{m\atop{i=1}}\;a_i$ and $B=\sum{{m\atop{i=1}}\;b_i$.

연구 목적 : 면역 반응에서 B-1 세포의 정확한 역할은 아직 명확히 규명되지 않았으나 최근 B-1 세포가 면역의 내성을 야기하고 유지하는데 필요한 특성들을 가지고 있음이 밝혀지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 B-1 세포 유래 단클론 항체의 특성과 항원 자극에 대한 B 세포의 동시자극자 (MHC Class, B7-2, 7-2) 발현을 평가하여 B 세포의 면역조절 기능을 알아보고자 한다. 연구 대상 및 방법 : B-1 세포 유래 단클론 항체를 형성하는 잡종세포주를 이용하여 다양한 내, 외인성 항원에 대한 단클론 항체의 반응 양상을 평가하였다. 여러 내, 외인성 항원으로 면역한 쥐의 복강과 비장 B 세포의 동시자극자의 발현을 Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting (FACS)을 이용하여 평가하였다. 결과 : 최종적으로 단클론을 형성하는 2개의 클론을 형성하였고, 이 B-1 세포 유래 단클론 항체는 dose-saturable pattern을 띄는 다중 반응성을 나타내었다. FACS를 이용한 동시자극자의 발현 검사에서는 MHC 발현은 복강과 비장의 B 세포가 유사하였으나, B7-1과 7-2는 복강의 B 세포에서 더 뚜렷한 발현을 보여주었다. 결론 : B-1 세포 유래 단클론 항체는 다양한 내, 외인성 항원 자극에 대해 dose-saturable한 다중반응성을 나타낸다. 복강과 비장의 B세포는 내, 외인성 항원의 면역에 있어서 동시자극자 발현이 명확히 다른 양상을 나타냄을 확인할 수 있었다.

Protein phosphatase 1 (PP1) is involved in various signal transduction mechanisms as an extensive regulator. The PP1 catalytic subunit (PP1c) recognizes and binds to PP1-binding consensus residues (FxxR/KxR/K) in NBCe1-B. Consequently, we focused on identifying the function of the PP1-binding consensus residue, $^{922}FMDRLK^{927}$, in NBCe1-B. Using site-directed mutagenesis and co-immunoprecipitation assays, we revealed that in cases where the residues were substituted (F922A, R925A, and K927A) or deleted (deletion of amino acids 922-927), NBCe1-B mutants inhibited PP1 binding to NBCe1-B. Additionally, by recording the intracellular pH, we found that PP1-binding consensus residues in NBCe1-B were not only critical for NBCe1-B activity, but also relevant to its surface expression level. Therefore, we reported that NBCe1-B, as a substrate of PP1, contains these residues in the C-terminal region and that the direct interaction between NBCe1-B and PP1 is functionally critical in controlling the regulation of the ${HCO_3}^-$ transport. These results suggested that like IRBIT, PP1 was another novel regulator of ${HCO_3}^-$ secretion in several types of epithelia.

This study analyzes the content of niacin, B1, and B2, which are among the water-soluble vitamin B group, in cultivars of the commonly consumed agricultural products of apples, peaches, nectarines and strawberries to compare content differences and to use results as base material for the Korean Food Composition Table. While the vitamin B1 content of apples according to different cultivars was found to be within the ranges of 0.063-0.208 mg/100g, and the content of vitamin B2 was found to be within the value ranges of 0.006-0.031 mg/100g, no niacin was found. The vitamin B1 content of peaches and nectarines according to different cultivars was found to be within the value ranges of 0.014-0.276 mg/100g, the content of vitamin B2 was found to be within he value ranges of 0.019-0.042 mg/100g, and niacin content was found to be within the value ranges of 0.298-1.096 mg/100g. The vitamin B1 content of strawberries according to cultivars was found to be within the value ranges of 0.112-0.394 mg/100g, the content of vitamin B2 was found to within the value ranges of 0.001-0.027 mg/100g, and niacin content was found to be within the value ranges of 0.388-0.809 mg/100g. Therefore, when nutrient composition analysis databases for the fruits of apples, peaches, and strawberries are constructed, cultivar factors must be put into consideration. In addition, differences can be found according to fruit harvest times, cultivation methods, and environmental factors, so related additional is needed.
