  • In this paper, a 3-D computer-aided die design process was developed for automobile rear frame with drawing, trimming, flanging, cam-piercing and piercing for tool design. The tool design has been done using Pro/Engineer on a personal computer. It is composed of four stations. The goal of this research is to apply each of stations for the standard tool specification to each station.

  • In this paper presented the net forging technology of planetary gear after much experiment and analysis, technology of two forging processes after billet being one -time heated, and cold net forging was adopted to ensure the gear forming quality. In the process of die producing, electrical rod NC cutting technology was used .the test and application has proved the net forging gear has reached higher quality and met the requirement of design. The net forging gear technology had been put into production.

  • 자동차에 대한 사용자의 욕구 다양화와 개성화가 '차량 꾸미기'로 표출되는 현상이 심화되고, 그에 따른 디자인 측면의 질적 저하와 성능과 기능 측면에서의 안정성에 우려가 발생되고 있다. 한국에 있어서의 튜닝은 관련 법규 및 전문 업의 미비상태와 무절제한 튜니으올 인해 전체적인 조형성과 기능적인 측면이 무시된 덧 대기식 작업이라는 지적과 함께 사회적 문제까지 비화되고 있는 현실이다. 본 연구에서는 커스터마이징을 도입하여 드레스업 용품과 다양한 튜닝 부품을 개발하여 고객 만족에 접근하고 있는 해외 양산 차 메이커와 전문 튜너(tuner)들을 중심으로 튜닝 사례와 드레스 업 용품 류를 차량의 부위별로 고찰해 보았다. 향후 자동차 스타일링의 방향설정에 있어서의 과제는 일반 소비자의 의식이 개인의 특성이 강조된 코디네이션에 대한 개념추구가 더욱 심화될 것이며, 라이프 스타일에 보다 밀착된 형태로의 소비자 니즈의 세련 화는 한층 진전될 것이다. 그 동안 국내 자동차시장의 소비자는 제품디자인을 생사자 중심에서 제시된 틀 안에서 수용하여 왔으나, 생산구조, 사회구조, 산업형태의 변화와 그에 따른 디자인 행위 그리고 디자인 가치의 변화를 초래할 것이다. 그에 따라 메이커와 디자이너는 이러한 환경 구조의 전환을 인지하고 또 다른 가능성을 모색하는 관계로써 상품 이면에 내재한 사회 문화적 의미, 즉 기호의 생산과 소비에 대해 진지하게 성찰할 필요가 있으리라 사료된다.

  • Although the numbers of pedestrian fatalities and injuries are steadily declining worldwide, pedestrian protection is still an important issue. Extensive researches have been carried out in the field of pedestrian protection in order to establish pedestrian safety regulations. The automobile hoods and bumpers, which pedestrians frequently run into during accidents, should be safely designed for pedestrians. Two analysis methods are utilized to design safe structures of the hood and the bumper. They are real experiment and computer simulation. In this research, a method is developed to simultaneously utilize the results from the experiment and the simulation. For design, orthogonal arrays are employed to combine the two methods. Based on this method, a hood and a bumper are designed to protect pedestrians.

  • As the demands for lightweight construction and precision grow, there is an increasing interest on hydroforming technology. This paper deals with designing automobile subframe for applying welded blanks hydroforming. In applying welded blanks hydroforming to automobile subframe, it is a serious problem that blanks wrinkle in deformed shape. To suppress wrinklings in blanks, the sections of the die where blanks wrinkled is modified. In addition to this, it is intended that the sum of thickness variation about wrinkling regions be minimized. For this purpose, parameters for influencing formability are selected and evaluated using orthogonal array. Among these parameters, parameters having a major effect on formability are selected again. Using CCD(central composite design) with the selected parameters, response surface is build up and optimal design is performed.

  • 본 논문은 모바일 폰을 이용한 자동차 제어를 위한 임베디드 시스템을 설계하고, 아두이노 자동차 모델의 제어에 적용한다. 아두이노 자동자 모델에 여러 가지 센서를 부착하여 실제 상황에서 발생할 수 있는 사건들을 모의 실험하고, 자동차의 주변 환경에서 발생할 수 있는 장애물 감지와 자동차 간의 거리 측정을 통하여 상황에 대처하기 위한 자동 제어 알고리즘을 설계한다. 그리고 제안된 시스템의 타당성을 분석한다.

Improving In-Vehicle Display and Control Design for Older Drivers

  • Recommendations for older driver-friendly automobile interior design have been determined by taking into account older people's physical and cognitive characteristics. Twenty three older people (aged from 54 to 78) and five younger people (from 20 to 29) performed several tasks in actual driving conditions, in which their reaction times and performance errors were recorded. Some design factors were found to be related to older drivers' visibility and controllability. Several design recommendations were proposed in terms of cluster color and font, display location, and HVAC control type. Proposed recommendations are expected to satisfy a wider range of older drivers as these will facilitate automobile interior designs which are fitter to older drivers' visual, cognitive, and manual capabilities.

  • Since Chrysler Motor Co. had experienced the digital development system in the beginning of 1990's, most of leading automobile companies are trying to apply a digital information system for their own business process reengineering based upon concurrent engineering system from product planning phase. This is called as virtual DMU(Digital Mock-Up) system instead of the traditional PMU(Physical Mock-Up) system. By using the virtual prototype, all of the design requirements and system specifications can be checked, changed and optimized more quickly and more efficiently. This paper consists of five chapters for the DMU information system. In the 1$^{st}$ chapter, the principle of digital design system is suggested by using four basic modules such as product design module, process design module, manufacturing system design module and central control module. The basic scheme of DMU is introduced with the benefits of application in the chapter 2. In the chapter 3, a digital design process of new car development is explained with the detailed DMU design and design review processes. In the chapter 4, the practical DMU manufacturing techniques and applications are introduced as CAD/CAM analyses, DPA(Digital Pre-Assembly)reviews for development, production, operation and maintenance phases, digital tolerance analyses and digital factory analyses for assembling line simulation, automated robot welding processes, production jig & fixtures and painting process simulation. Finally, the activities of digital design support; CAS-styling, CAE-engineering and CAT-testing are summarized for design optimization in the chapter 5. As today's automobile manufactures and related business organizations are struggling to compete in the global marketplace, they are concentrating on efficient use of DMU information system to reduce the new car development cost, to have shorten the delivery schedule and to improve product design quality. To meet the demand of those automobile industries on digital information systems, the CALS(Computer aided Acquisition and Logistics Support) and EC(Electronic Commerce)initiative has been focused as a dominant philosophy in defense & commercial industries, specially automobile industries.s.
