The paper presents a new global maximum search method for multimodal unknown functions of two variables. The search method is composed of two stages and sequentially samples the candidate point in a subdomain selected using a priority function in each stage. The search domain is auto-similarly divided into triangular subdomains, or cells, during the search process. A measure of accuracy of local maximum search is introduced to check if a local search has converged to a specified accuracy or the maximum of a local peak cannot be the global maximum. A criterion for switching from the first to the second stage, is proposed using a ratio of the observed peak width to the largest cell in the domain. By numerical simulations, the required number of trials is evaluated for some function models with different peak parameters, and the switching criterion is optimally determined. The results show that the proposed method obtains global maximum points with certainty and saves largely computation time even for functions with extremely steep peaks.
Current source inverter drives of auto sequentially commutated type are very popular in high power applications, because of simple power circuit configuration with four quadrant operation. But the six-step current output create harmonic problems and the input power factor of such a drive is not always good. In this respect pulse width modulated drives using gate turn off thyristors ( GTO ) are finding application, especially in traction drives. However the switching and snubber loses of a GTO do not permit the inverter switching frequency go beyond a few hundred hertz. This will again introduce low frequency harmonic problems. Multi level inverters of the 3-level and 5-level can be considered as an alternative to overcome the low switching frequency harmonic problem of the 2-level GTO inverters. But with multi level inverters the complexity of the power circuit increases. In this paper a combination of multi level ( 2-level and 3-level ) inverters and multi phase induction motor ( 3-phase and 6-phase) configurations are presented for high power VSI drives for traction applications with reduced inverter switching frequency requirements coupled with reduced voltage rating for the power switch.
In this paper, the design and characteristics of a novel ultrasonic motor are investigated. Such a motor is appropriate far use in the optical zoom or auto focusing functions of the lens system in mobile phones. Its design and simulation of performances are carried out by FEM commercial software (ATILA). The shape of the motor is similar to a square without one side, on which an optical lens can be mounted. Two sheets of piezoelectric ceramics are adhered to both sides of two legs of the elastic body, respectively To drive the ultrasonic motor, the voltage is applied to two sheets of piezoelectric ceramics bonded to one leg. The rotation direction can be easily changed by switching the piezoelectric sheets bonded to the other leg, to which voltage is applied. A proto type of the motor is fabricated and its outer size is $10^*10^*2[mm3]$ including the camera lens of which the diameter is 7.5(mm). Its power consumption is about 0.3[W] and the speed of rotation is adjustable from 10 to 200[rpm] according to the applied voltage

This paper proposes new 12 and 24-pulse rectifier systems using an open-delta auto-connected transformer. This approach employs two static converters to operate it at higher than utility line frequencies and to provide multi-pulse operation. By operating magnetic components at a higher frequency, higher power density can be achieved. A unique feature of the proposed approach is that the magnetic components for the dc-side are also exposed to a higher frequency and these components too are reduced in size. The switching frequency and its harmonic components are absent in the utility input line current. The VA ratings of the transformer and static converter are 0.236/0.292 [pu] and 0.11/0.18 [pu] in 12 and 24-pulse rectifier system, respectively. A finer grade of steel or alternatives can be deployed to increase performance and reduce size further. Analysis, simulations, simulations, design example, and experimental results for a 480[V], 10{kVA] prototype system are presented.

A 24 pulse current source inverter for reducing the harmonics in output currents is presented in this paper. The proposed system operates a 24 pulse inverter by adding only tap changing circuit which consists of several taps and static switching elements to the 12 pulse inverter, which is the double connected 3 phase 6 pulse inverter with an auto transfomer. Also to optimize the effectiveness of the harmonic reduction, the optimum turn ratio and tap changing control angle of auto transfomer are decided by digital simulation and its validity is verified with experiment. And under the optimum condition, it is clarified that the harmonics components involved in the output current of the proposed inverter are nearly equal to those of the conventional 24 pulse inverter.
This paper describes a study on the series resonant inverter using the double full-bridge, and the output voltage of the proposed inverter is controlled by phase shift angle of the outputs of two inverters. These control schemes can be reduce the switching loss and EMI, etc, which the inverter is drived by auto following control of output frequency, because it is impossible for switching devices to be always turned on and off at zero voltage or zero current. Theoretical characteristics of the proposed double inverter circuit are compared with Pspice simulation and experimental results.
This paper presents a microprocessor controlled electronic ballast for HID lamps, which gives automatic switching between MH and HPS lamps. Lamp identification is carried out by checking variation of lamp impedance at warm-up phase. Direct spread spectrum is done by applying 1 kHz triangular wave for removing acoustic resonance. This frequency modulation of 1 kHz gives also low EMI level. The microprocessor controls the voltage of DC-bus, the voltage of ignition pulses, the power of output. A 250W electronic ballast is implemented with ATmega16 CPU.

This paper describes implementation contents contents of manual/automatic complex redundancy control mothod for control of a modulation system of a Paging earth station in redundancy stracture. The existed redundancy control method usually is a automatic local control method in which the redundancy switching, including display or alarm beeping through operation of display devices or audio devices, is performed by the co-action of components or modules when the abnormal status is occurred in a modulation system. However, this method introduced in here is designed to enable use of three control modes;1) Manual mode by an operator, 2) Auto-remote mode by the Network Maagement System, through implementation of the redundancy control system composed of the redundancy control board and the redundancy switching circuit.
The modelling of some different types of switchgears has been reported in the previous papers. This paper consists of two parts. The first part concerns the modelling and simulation of switching arcs with an auto-expansion circuit breaker as an example. The second part focuses on the simulation of the PTFE nozzle ablation effect with three different nozzle shapes. For circuit breakers, the modelling of moving contact and the choice of time steps are discussed before typical results are given and compared with available test result.
The development of the high-frequency induction-heating for 2700kW power range intend to make localization at forging and rolling mill part by technical innovation. And, the development makes to increase our's competitive power at technique, quality and cost. This paper describes the heart of high-frequency induction-heating technique, switching technique, a few problem in common using as an unsatisfied technique, load adjustment technique, system control, diagnostic system, and auto-interface etc.
