  • Numerous studies in the field of buyer-supplier relationship research have focused on the buyer's performance. In contrast, supplier's performance has been paid relatively little attention by researchers, especially the research about the supplier's innovation in the relationship is still in its early stage. In this paper, we examine the relation between the attribute of buyer-supplier relationship and the attribute of supplier's innovation through case research. We define the attribute of buyer-supplier relationship as 'tie strength' (Granovetter, 1973), and the attribute of supplier's innovation as 'exploitation or exploration' (March, 1991). We selected the semiconductor equipment industry of U.S.A, Japan and Korea and firm (JUSUNG Engineering) as cases that examine the relation. We found that a strong tie relationship is positively associated with supplier's exploitation based innovation, and a weak tie relationship is positively related to it's exploration based innovation in this research also. In addition, we could verify reduction of strong tie relationship cause supplier's organizational change.

  • As interest in the high-potential Chinese beauty market is growing, understanding the disposition of Chinese consumers different from Korea is becoming more important for successful entry into the Chinese market. This study attempted to compare differences in beauty shop selection attributes between Korean and Chinese consumers. In order to achieve this research purpose, the beauty shop selection attribute was classified into five components: environmental attribute, structural attribute, external attribute, awareness, and service attribute. Survey responses were collected from 162 Chinese and 111 Koreans, respectively, and empirical analysis was conducted. Both Chinese and Koreans had significant relationships between environmental attribute, service attribute and satisfaction, but the relationship between the remaining attributes and satisfaction were not significant. In addition, significant differences exist between Chinese and Koreans in the relationship between environmental attribute, service attribute and satisfaction. The results of this study can help companies to establish and operate a higher quality beauty shop based on understanding the situation and characteristics of each country in the fierce competition in the beauty market.

  • This paper deals with the multiple attribute decision making problem when a decision maker incompletely articulates his/her preferences about the attribute weight and alternative value. Furthermore, we consider the attribute tree which is structured hierarchically. Techniques for establishing dominance with linear partial information are proposed in a hierarchically structured attribute tree. The linear additive value function under certainty is used in the model. The incompletely specified information constructs a feasible region of linear constraints and therefore the pairwise dominance relationship between alternatives leads to intractable non-linear programming. Hence, we propose solution techniques to handle this difficulty. Also, to handle the tree structure, we break down the attribute tree into sub-trees. Due to there cursive structure of the solution technique, the optimization results from sub-trees can be utilized in computing the value interval on the topmost attribute. The value intervals computed by the proposed solution techniques can be used to establishing the pairwise dominance relation between alternatives. In this paper, pairwise dominance relation will be represented as strict dominance and weak dominance, which ware already defined in earlier researches.

  • This paper addresses the vertical class fragmentation in distributed object-oriented databases. In the proposed vertical fragmentation, after producing the attribute fragment by partitioning attributes, then the method fragment is produced by gathering methods referring the attribute in each fragment. For partitioning attributes, we define query access matrix(QAM) and method access matrix(MAM) to express attributes that method refers, and extend QAM, MAM and attribute usage matrix(AUM) to universal class environment for representing relationship among other classes through class hierarchy and class composite hierarchy.

  • Purpose: This study investigates how to successfully promote the smart product bundle by exploring (1) how consumers' adoption intention toward a smart product bundle differs by the complementarity level of the bundled items and (2) how the ad appeal type influences the effect of complementarity level on adoption intention via goal fluency. Research design, data and methodology: This study was a 2 (complementarity level: low vs. high) × 2 (ad appeal type: attribute vs. benefit) between-subjects experiment. The proposed hypotheses were verified using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and bootstrap analysis using PROCESS. Results: This research demonstrated that adoption intention toward smart products increases when the complementarity level of bundled smart items is high. Goal fluency underlies this relationship. Further, attribute versus benefit appeal type moderates the relationship between the complementarity level and goal fluency. Conclusions: Compared with the attribute appeal, benefit appeal leads to higher goal fluency when the complementarity level of the bundled items is low. However, there was no differential impact of appeal type on goal fluency when the complementarity level of bundled items is high. Finally, goal fluency mediated the interaction of complementarity level × ad appeal type on adoption intention.

  • The purpose of this study was to decipher the BRQ (Brand Relationship Quality) Construct of fashion product consumers and to identify influencing variables. Consumption values of consumers, fashion product attributes and marketing communication instruments were investigated as affecting variables. A questionnaire was distributed to 350 women between the age of 20 and 50 living in Seoul and other metropolitan areas from Mar. 5 to Mar. 18, 2008. Collected data were analyzed by factor analysis, reliability, multiple regression, frequency and percentage using SPSS (Version 15,0) statistical Package. The results were as follows: Firstly, the BRQ Construct of fashion product consumers was proved to be composed of five factors; 'self-connective love', 'pursuing symbol', 'trust', 'intimacy', and 'knowledge'. Secondly, consumption values had a significant effect on the BRQ Construct and their explanatory power was 32%, 'Epistemic value' was the most significant variable affecting BRQ. 'Functional value' had a significant influence on some BRQ factors. Thirdly, explanatory power of fashion product attributes affecting BRQ was 45%. 'Aesthetic attribute' had significant effect on all BRQ factors, while 'functional attribute' showed significant effect on only 'pursuing symbol', 'trust', and 'intimacy'. Finally, marketing communication mixes showed 21% explanatory power and 'word of mouth' and 'display' among marketing communication mixes were found as the most influential variables affecting the BRQ Construct.

  • The principal objective of this study was to categorize service attributes on the basis of the asymmetric and non-linear relationship existing between service attributes and customer satisfaction. Researchers generally assume that service attribute performances and customer satisfaction are both symmetrical and linear. That is to say, improvements in attribute performance will inevitably result in increased customer satisfaction. However, this is not always the case. Certain attributes have been shown not to create satisfaction even when improved, and others do not create dissatisfaction even when their performance ratings become negative. Understanding this relationship is crucial not only to researchers, but also to service managers. Service managers can arrange their priorities with regard to which attributes must be improved or promoted first, in an environment of limited technical, financial, and human resources. Many studies into this asymmetric and non-linear relationship have recently been conducted, beginning with Herzberg's motivation-hygiene theory (1976) and the disconfirmation theory, which was eventually developed into Kano's model (1984). This study attempted to determine the impact level of service attributes on incidents of satisfaction or dissatisfaction. It used 30 service attributes generated by Park (2008) in the CIT research into family restaurants. The data were collected from 600 participants, 300 incidences of satisfaction and 300 incidents of dissatisfaction, via an online survey. The t-test was used to confirm the difference between the satisfaction group's and dissatisfaction group's attributes. 11 attributes were found to be significant at a level of p>0.05. This indicates that the 11 attributes exerted different impacts on satisfaction and dissatisfaction, which confirmed the asymmetric and non-linear relationship. 14 attributes were categorized into the core service, 1 attribute into the quality service, 7 attributes into the basic service, and 8 attributes into the neutral service. Strategic customer service management was recommended for the 'A' family restaurant as an example, on the basis of the asymmetric and non-linear relationship and the characteristics of the four service factors.

  • This present research seeks to explore the empirical evidence about the relation between quality of destination and Islamic attribute of destination on tourist satisfaction. This research was conducted at the tourism sector in West Java, Indonesia. The participants were Muslim foreign tourists who were traveling to West Java, Indonesia. The total number of participants in the research was 200. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. Hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling methods with AMOS version 23. The exogenous variables in this research consisted of the quality of the destination and Islamic attribute of destination. Tourist satisfaction was an endogenous variable in this research. We used a quantitative approach and structural equation modeling to examine the research hypotheses. The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of the quality of destination on the tourist satisfaction, and the quality of destination positively affected Islamic attribute of destination, but Islamic attribute of destination had no significant effect on tourist satisfaction. We also found that Islamic attribute of destination did not mediate the relation between quality of destination and tourist satisfaction. We provided recommendations to strengthen or improve the quality of destination in order to increase tourist satisfaction.
