The Effect of Gluteus Medius Taping on Balance and Walking in Chronic Stroke Patients (만성 뇌졸중 환자의 마비측 중간볼기근 테이핑이 균형과 보행에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose : Kinesio taping is a therapeutic method used in the treatment of various musculoskeletal and neuromuscular deficits limited evidence the effects of gluteus medius kinesio taping in neurologic patients. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effects of gluteus medius kinesio taping on balance ability and gait function in after a stroke. Methods : Twenty-four post-stroke patients were included in this study. Gluteus medius taping group and sham gluteus medius taping group were divided into intervention. Kinesio tape was applied the gluteus medius muscles. In all the subjects, the balance ability was measured using the force plate and timed up & go test (TUG) and gait function was assessed using the 10-meter walking test at time points of both before and after the taping. Result : There was a significant difference in balance ability and gait function between the two groups before and after gluteus medius taping group (p<.05). The gluteus medius taping group showed a significant difference between the groups (p<.05). Conclusion : The results suggest that taping may be a useful method during rehabilitation programs for stroke patients. Application of Kinesio taping to the gluteus medius muscles was found to be useful especially in improving balance ability.

The Effect of Science Writing Classes based on Science Core Competencies in Elementary School (과학과 핵심역량 요소를 기반으로 한 초등학교 과학 글쓰기 수업의 효과)

  • The 2015 revised national science curriculum encourages students to cultivate the science core competencies such as scientific thinking, science process skills, scientific problem-solving ability, scientific communication skill, scientific participation and lifelong learning ability. To fill this purpose, we practiced science writing classes based on core competencies and examined the effect of its application. The target unit was 'weather and our life', 'acid and base', 'speed of an object', and 'structure and function of our body' in the fifth grade of elementary school. The results were as follows. First, it was proven that science writing activities based on core competencies did not help improving science process skills of learners. Second, it had a significant effect on the improvement of the learner's self-directed learning ability, in particular, owner spirit, meta cognition and information search. Third, this strategy for science writing changed learners' scientific attitude positively. The above-mentioned results show that this science writing classes can be applicable as one of effective methods in cultivating science core competencies.

A Study on Consumer Cognition about Criteria for Classifying Fashion Brands (패션 브랜드 분류 기준에 관한 소비자 인식 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out criteria for classifying fashion brand from consumer point of view in order to develop strategy of fashion brands and to manage brand effectively and systematically, and to suggest theoretical frame for application of these criteria. Survey was used as a research method. Subject were 422 age of 20-30 women living in and near Seoul. Questionnaires was developed to based on 37 classification criteria, and SPSS package program were used to analyze data. The results of this study were as follows: First, factor analysis considering 37 classification criteria identified 8 factors as classification criteria. They were the level of brand form, the level of product concept, the level of management item, the level of brand sales ability, the level of customer management, the level of brand advertizing and awareness, the level of brand value, the level of product lead ability. Second, the most important factor was the level of customer management, but comparatively factor of the level of brand sales ability the level of brand value was less important. Third, consumer cognized difference of criteria for classifying fashion brands. And the level of product lead ability was the most important factor in women's wear category and the level of brand form was in general casual wear category.

Development of STEAM Instructional Materials using Arduino for Creative Engineering Design Class in High Schools and Its Application (일반계고의 창의공학설계 수업을 위한 아두이노 기반 STEAM 수업자료 개발과 적용)

  • The purpose of the study was to develop the Arduino based STEAM instruction materials for creative engineering design class. PDIE model was used in this study. We developed a STEAM lesson plan and a STEAM lesson worksheet for a total of six sessions through the steps of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation. The validity of the instruction materials was evaluated by the 10 experts using a survey. The instruction materials were applied to the class (52 students attended) of the creative engineering designs unit in technology and home economics subject. The class satisfaction and the creative solving-problem ability were examined after the calss. The class satafacition was high as the average of 10 item was 4.57 (out of 5). The paired t-test was conducted to compare the means of the creative solving-problem ability. It was observed that 'understanding and mastery of knowledge, thought, function and skills in a specific domain', 'divergent thinking', 'critical and logical thinking' and ' motivational factors' were significantly increased after the class. The instruction materials develped in this study were successfully designed to enhance the creative solving-problem ability by designing creative tasks and to intrique the interest by adding visual and auditory stimuli with the Arduino.

Coloring Effect and Functionality of Rayon Based Cool Fabrics Treated by Various Mordant and Gallnut Extract (레이온계 여름용 직물에서 매염제 종류에 따른 오배자 염색의 색채발현 및 기능성에 관한 연구)

  • Gallnuts are known to exert various pharmaceutical properties that include anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and detoxifying effects. Gallnut extract is thought to be a particularly safe antimicrobial agent for textile application due to its natural origins. Hence, textiles were dyed with gallnut to develop multi-functional clothing material with no harmful effects. In this study, three kinds of cool touch woven fabrics, each comprised of 100% viscose rayon filament, viscose rayon filament/high absorption & quick dry (polyester) filament, and viscose rayon $filament/tencel^{(R)}$ spun yarn, were prepared and used as substrates for gallnut dyeing to especially develop functional cool touch textiles for summer clothing material. On the other hand, gallnut dyeing was conducted with mordanting with iron, lime or alum, which induced different colors on the dyed textiles. Dyed textiles were then investigated by SEM, FTIR, antibacterial test, and antioxidant test. Subsequently, gallnut dyed textiles indicated excellent antibacterial ability and deodorization activity regardless of mordant species. However, only gallnut dyed textiles mordanted with iron and alum showed significant antioxidant ability. In addition, the dyeing processes impair the cool touch feeling of the textiles by changing the micro structure of the textile surface.

Effects of Integrity, Ability, and Benevolence on Trust Buildup in Information Technology Environment (정보기술환경에서 무결성, 능력, 배려 요인이 신뢰에 미치는 영향에 대한 분석)

  • We study how the three antecedents of trust such as integrity, ability and benevolence affect trust building, based on the articles extracted from the New York Times during 1981-2010. Major findings are that the ratio of negative impact on trust from integrity is 86%, whereas the ratios of positive impact on trust from ability and benevolence are 70% and 71% respectively. Statistical tests show that the hypothesis that the negative impact of integrity on trust build-up will be higher is supported, but the most unstructured benevolence related hypotheses are not confirmed due to small sample sizes. Based on the study, we suggest that the future direction of IT application should accommodate benevolence factor seriously to fulfill corporate social responsibility.

Static Analysis and Experimentation on Obstacle-overcoming for a Novel Field Robotic Platform using Flip Motion (Flip 모션을 이용한 신개념 필드 로봇 플랫폼의 큰 장애물 등반 정적 해석 및 실험)

  • The ability to overcome obstacles is necessary for field robots for various applications including the ability to climb stairs. While much research has been performed focusing on overcoming obstacles, the resulting robots do not have sufficient ability to overcome obstacles such as stairs. In this research, the purpose is to overcome relatively large obstacles by flipping locomotion through the modification of the stair climbing robotic platform of the previous research. We propose two scenarios to overcome large obstacles: a rear wheel driving system and an elevation system using a ball screw. The research is performed based on static analyses on obstacle-climbing. As the simulation results indicate, we determined the optimal posture of the robot for climbing obstacles for rear wheel driving. Also, an elevation system is analyzed for obstacle climbing. Between the two scenarios an elevation system is determined to reduce the operating torque of the actuator, and the prototype was recently assembled. The climbing ability of the robotic platform is verified. We expect the application area for this robotic platform will be in accident areas of nuclear power plants.

The comparison of flipped-learning-applied classes of nursing college students on learning motivation, learning attitude and problem solving ability (일개 간호대학생의 플립드 러닝을 적용한 수업이 학습동기, 학습태도, 문제해결능력에 미치는 차이)

  • Purpose: This research was conducted to the comparison of flipped learning on nursing students' learning motivation, learning attitude and problem solving ability. Method: Flipped learning was a learner-centered learning method. This study was conducted on 93 nursing students and 4th grade students taking community nursing. This study was a comparative experimental study of single group. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS Win 20.0 program. Results: The results of this study showed that the instruction of the flip learning application was statistically different from that before the test in the learning motivation (t=-2.149, p=.034) and problem solving ability (t=2.210, p=.030). However, there was no statistically significant difference in learning attitude. It is thought that the flipped-learning classes was progressed with the learner-centered, and the learner was given a lot of tasks and the preparation time was required. The classes with the flip learning was effective for the motivation and problem solving ability improvement. Conclusion: Therefore, in the next study, it is necessary to design a classes that complements this part in order to positively increase the students' attitude of learning. I would like to apply flipped-learning classes in various subjects.

Effects of metacognitive instructions on mathematical reasoning ability in the elementary school students (아동의 메타인지를 유발하는 발문이 수학적 추론능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of the present study was designed to examine that metacognition education had any promoting effects on the development of students' reasoning ability. Two classes in the 5th grade were asked to participated for the present study. Prior to the metacognition teaching, both the experimental and control group classes were given to the preliminary test in which students' basic ability for mathematical reasoning was graded. Then, the students in the experimental group were given 8hour teaching for the topics on the symmetric properties of geometric figures. The present findings indicate that educational application which motivates metacognition can improve mathematical reasoning ability in elementary students. It is widely accepted that metacognition is an active and conscious mental activity, helps the students perceive voluntarily the study items, and further plays an important role in constructing independent and active thinking processes. Accordingly, the present results implicate that the practical performance of metacognition education into the class indeed contributes to build up or strengthen students' voluntary ways of reasoning.

  • With the 4th Industrial Revolution, educational change is required to cultivate the ability to adapt in the rapidly changing future. Accordingly, the importance of nurturing convergent talents to create new values using the humanities imagination, science and technology creativity, and engineering problem solving ability has emerged. The purpose of this study is to develop STEAM education program with Daedeok R&D Zone and KAIST resources for middle school and high school level. With this program, we investigated the effectivenss of STEAM education on creative problem solving ability, self-efficacy and the perception of STEAM education with pre-test and poste-test model. For this study, 91 students(46 middle school, 45 high school) participated in STEAM education program. As a result student participated in the STEAM program improved the creative problem-solving ability and students' interest in math and science. Also, students perceived STEAM program provided benefits of science-related career information. The suggestions were discussed based on the results.
