The optical and electrical properties of indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films deposited at room temperature can be substantially enhanced by adopting a two-step process. In the first step, the films (50 nm thick) were grown by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) on glass substrate at room temperature and quickly annealed at $400^{\circ}C$ in nitrogen ambient for 1 minute by using rapid thermal annealing method. The process was completed by additional deposition (150 nm thick) on annealed film at room temperature. High quality ITO films grown by two-step process at room temperature could be obtained with the resistivity of $3.02{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$, the carrier mobility of 32.07 $cm^2/Vs$, and the transparency above 90 % in visible region mainly due to the enhancement of the film crystallinity and the increase of grain size.
$CuInSe_2$ (CIS) thin films were electrodeposited on Mo-coated glass substrates in acidic solutions containing $Cu^{2+}$, $In^{3+}$, and $Se^{4+}$ ions, depending on deposition parameters such as deposition potential (-0.4 to -0.8 V[SCE]) and pH (1.7 to 1.9). The influences of PH and deposition potential on the atomic composition of Cu, In, and Se in the deposited films were observed. The best chemical composition, approaching 1:1:2 atomic ratio for the elements, was achieved at -0.5 V (SCE) and pH 1.8. The as-deposited films showed low crystallinity and were annealed at 300 to $500^{\circ}C$ for 30 min to improve crystallization. The surface morphologies, microstructures, and crystallographic structures of the annealed films as well as the as-deposited films were analyzed with AFM, SEM, and XRD. The defects of spherical particles appeared on the surfaces of CIS thin films in the as-deposited state and decreased in size and number with increasing annealing temperatures. Additionally, the crystallization to chalcopyrite structure and surface roughness (Ra) of the as-deposited thin films were improved with the annealing process.
Magnetic properties and crystal structures of (Fe1-XCoX) Pt (X = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0) ternary thin films were investigated. The order-disorder phase transformation of FePt thin films during annealing was also studied by x-ray diffraction and M ssbauer spectroscopy. The magnetic thin films were deposited on glass substrates using a dc sputtering method and were subsequently annealed at 400~$700^{\circ}C$ in a high vacuum. The as-deposited films exhibited a high degree of the <111> preferred orientation and the preferred orientation was not destroyed even after the subsequent post annealing. The coercivity of the ($Fe_xCo_{1-x}$) Pt thin films annealed at $700^{\circ}C$ showed a minimum value at the equiatomic composition of the Fe and Co atoms. The ordered structure of the FePt alloy was thought to have formed from the disordered structure by an inhomogeneous process, which was confirmed by the asymmetric peak shapes and M ssbauer spectra.
In this study we present the effect of annealing temperatures on the structural, electrical and optical characteristics of Ga-doped ZnO(GZO) films. GZO target have been deposited on corning 7059 glass substrates by DC sputtering. GZO films were annealed at temperatures of 400, 500, $600^{\circ}C$ in air ambient for 20 min. Experimental resulted in as-grown film shows the resistivity of $6{\times}10^{-1}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and transmittance under 85%, whereas the electrical and optical properties of film annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ are enhanced up to $1.9{\times}10^{-3}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ and 90%, respectively.
A 100 nm thick $SnO_2$ thin films were prepared by radio frequency magnetron sputtering on glass substrates and then annealed in nitrogen atmosphere for 30 minutes at 100, 200, and $300^{\circ}C$, respectively. While the visible light transmittance and electrical resistivity of as deposited $SnO_2$ films were 81.8% and $1.5{\times}10^{-2}{\Omega}cm$, respectively, the films annealed at $200^{\circ}C$ show the increased optical transmittance of 82.8% and the electrical resistivity also decreased as low as $4.3{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$. From the observed results, it is concluded that post-deposition annealing in nitrogen atmosphere at $200^{\circ}C$ is an attractive condition to optimize the optical and electrical properties of $SnO_2$ thin films for the various display device applications.
We fabricated BiAlO thin film by a solution process with a brush coating to be used as liquid crystal (LC) alignment layer. Solution-processed BiAlO was coated on the glass substrate by brush process. Prepared thin films were annealed at different temperatures of 80℃, 180℃, and 280℃. To verify whether the BiAlO film was formed properly, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis was performed on Bi and Al. Using a crystal rotation method by polarized optical microscopy, LC alignment state was evaluated. At the annealing temperature of 280℃, the uniform homogenous LC alignment was achieved. To reveal the mechanism of LC alignment by brush coating, field emission scanning electron microscope was used. Through this analysis, spin-coated and brush coated film surface were compared. It was revealed that physical anisotropy was induced by brush coating at a high annealing temperature. Particles were aligned in one direction along which brush coating was made, resulting in a physical anisotropy that affects a uniform LC alignment. Therefore, it was confirmed that brush coating combined with BiAlO thin film annealed at high temperature has a significant potential for LC alignment.

The electrical stability of ZnO: Al thin films deposited on glass substrate by the RF magnetron sputtering method have been modified by a hydrogen annealing treatment and $SiO_2$ protection layer. AZO thin films were deposited at room temperature and different RF powers of 50, 100, 150, and 200 W to optimize the AZO film growth condition. The lowest value of resistivity of $9.44{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ was obtained at 2 mtorr, room temperature, and a power level of 150 W. Then, the AZO thin films were annealed at $250-400^{\circ}C$ for 1 h in hydrogen ambient. The minimum resistivity obtained was $8.32{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ as-annealed at $300^{\circ}C$. The electrical properties were enhanced by the hydrogen annealing treatment. After a 72 h damp-heat treatment in harsh conditions of a water steam at $110^{\circ}C$ for four representative samples, a degradation of electrical properties was observed. The sample of hydrogen-annealed AZO thin films with $SiO_2$ protection layer showed a slight degradation ratio(17%) of electrical properties and a preferable transmittance of 90%. The electrical stability of AZO thin films had been modified by hydrogen annealing treatment and $SiO_2$ protection layer.
In this study, transparent conducting Al-doped Zinc Oxide (AZO) films with a thickness of 150 nm were prepared on corning glass substrate by the RF magnetron sputtering with using a Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO), ($Al_2O_3$: 2 wt%) target at room temperature. This study investigated the effect of rapid thermal annealing temperature and oxygen ambient on structural, electrical and optical properties of Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films. The films were annealed at temperatures ranging from 400 to $700^{\circ}C$ by using Rapid thermal equipment in oxygen ambient. The effect of RTA treatment on the structural properties were studied by x-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. It is observed that the Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin film annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ at 5 minute oxygen ambient gas reveals the strongest XRD emission intensity and narrowest full width at half maximum among the temperature studied. The enhanced UV emission from the film annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ at 5 minute oxygen ambient gas is attributed to the improved crystalline quality of Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin film due to the effective relaxation of residual compressive stress and achieving maximum grain size.
The ITO films were deposited on glass substrates by RF-superimposed dc reactive magnetron sputtering and were annealed in $N_2$ vacuum furnace with temperatures in the range of $403K{\sim}573K$ for 30 minutes. Electrical, optical and structural properties of ITO films were examined with varying annealing temperatures from 403 K to 573 K. The resistivity of as-deposited ITO films was $5.4{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ at the sputter conditions of applied RF/DC power of 200/200 W, $O_{2}$ flow of 0.2 seem and Ar flow of 0.2 seem. As a result of annealing in the temperature range of $403K{\sim}573K$, the crystallization occurred at 423 K that is lower than the crystallization temperature caused by a conventional sputtering method. And the resistivity decreased from $5.4{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm\;to\;2.3{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$, the carrier concentration and mobility of ITO films increased from $4.9{\times}10^{20}/cm^3\;to\;6.4{\times}10^{20}/cm^3$, from $20.4cm^2/Vsec\;to\;41.0cm^2/Vsec$, respectively. The transmittance of ITO films in visible became higher than 90% when annealed in the temperature range of $423K{\sim}573K$. High quality ITO thin films made by RF-superimposed dc reactive magnetron sputtering and annealing in $N_2$ vacuum furnace will be applied to transparent conductive oxides of the advanced flat panel display.
Ga doped ZnO (GZO)/Al bi-layered films were deposited on the glass substrate by RF and DC magnetron sputtering and then vacuum annealed at different temperatures of 100, 200 and $300^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes to consider the effects of annealing temperature on the structural, electrical and optical properties of the films. For all depositions, the thicknesses of the GZO and Al films were kept constant at 95 and 5 nm, respectively, by controlling the deposition time. As-deposited GZO/Al bi-layered films showed a relatively low optical transmittance of 62%, while the films annealed at $300^{\circ}C$ showed a higher transmittance of 81%, compared to the other films. In addition, the electrical resistivity of the films was influenced by annealing temperature and the lowest resistivity of $9.8{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ was observed in the films annealed at $300^{\circ}C$. Due to the increased carrier mobility, 2.35 $cm^2V^{-1}S^{-1}$ of the films. From the experimental results, it can be concluded that increasing the annealing temperature enhanced the optical and electrical properties of the GZO/Al films.
