  • Cesium lead halide perovskite quantum dots (QDs) have recently emerged as highly promising opto-electronic materials. Despite the relative facile anion exchange reactions in cesium lead halide perovskite QDs, in depth study of the anion exchange reactions such as reaction kinetics are required that can provide insight into the crystal transformation in the cesium lead halide perovskite QDs. Herein, we investigated the anion exchange reaction from $CsPbI_3$ QDs to $CsPbBr_3$ QDs with varying the particle size of the starting $CsPbI_3$ QDs. By characterizing the PL spectra in the anion exchange reaction process, we observed that discontinuous PL peak shifts during I-to-Br anion exchange reaction in starting $CsPbI_3$ QDs over a critical size. Origin of the discontinuous I-to-Br anion exchange kinetics are mainly due to thermodynamically unstable nature of the $CsPb(Br/I)_3$ alloy QDs.

  • Ion exchange performance to remove nitrate in water was studied using commercially available strong base anion exchange resin of Cl- type in the batch and continuous column reactors. The performance was tested using the effluent concentration histories for continuous column or equilibrium conquilibrium between resin and solution. Anion exchange resin used in this study was more effective than activated carbon or zeolite for nitrate removal. With large resin amount or low initial concentration, nitrate removal characteristics for a typical gel-type resin was Increased. On considering the relation between the breakthrough capacity and nitrate concentration of the influent, the use of anion exchange resin were suitable for the hi선or order water treatment. The nitrate removal of above 90% could be possible until the effluent of above 650 BV was passed to the column. Thus, the commercially available strong base anion exchange resin of $Cl^-$ type used in thins study could be effectively used as economic material for treatment of the groundwater. The breakthrough curves showed the sequence of resin selectivity as $SO_4^{2-}$ > $NO_3$ > $NO^{2-}$ > $HCO_3^-$. The results of this study could be scaled up and used as a design tool for the water purification system of the real groundwater and surface water treatment processes.

복합음이온 교환섬유의 플라스마 산화 처리한 NO의 흡착특성 (Adsorption Properties of Oxidized NO by Plasma Using Hybrid Anion-Exchange Fibers)

  • 본 연구에서는 아민화 polyolefin-g-GMA 복합음이온 교환섬유를 이용하여 플라스마 산화된 NO의 흡착특성을 고찰하였다. 플라스마 산화에 의한 $NO_2$ 전환율은 NO 200 ppm, 산소 10%, 유속 30 L/min 일 때 최대 49% 이었다. 또한 복합음이온 교환섬유의 $NO_2$ 흡착량은 함수율이 높을수록 증가하였고 함수율이 최대 1.5 g $H_2O/g$ IEF 이었으며, 복합음이온 교환섬유의 $NO_2$ 흡착은 10 분까지 빠르게 진행되었고 120 분에서 최대 80% 흡착되었다. 이온교환 용량은 함수율이 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며, 흡착컬럼 충전 비가 L/D=5에서 0.6 mmol/g IEF로 가장 높았다. 또한 이온교환 섬유의 흡착은 Langmuir 등온흡착 모델보다 Freundlich 등온흡착 모델에 가까웠으며, 다분자층에서의 흡착이 우세하게 발생한 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

폴리페닐렌 옥사이드 음이온 교환막의 가교결합 (Crosslinking of Poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) Anion Exchange Membranes)

  • 축전식 탈염(capacitive deionization)에 이용할 수 있는 폴리페닐렌 옥사이드(PPO) 음이온 교환막의 가교결합에 대해 조사하였다. 브롬화와 아민화 반응단계를 거쳐 PPO 음이온 교환 고분자를 제조하고 비스페놀 A 디글리시딜에테르(BADGE), m-페닐렌디아민(m-PDA), 헥사메틸렌디아민(HMDA) 등으로 가교하였다. 가교에 따른 겔화되는 시간은 HMDA > m-PDA > BADGE 순으로 짧았으며, 일정한 함량 이상으로 실온에서 가교하면 1-메틸피롤리돈(NMP)과 같은 비양성자성 용매(aprotic solvent)에 녹지 않아 내화학성이 증대되었다. 가교제(BADGE) 함량에 따른 음이온 교환막의 이온 교환 용량과 함수율을 측정하고 비교하였다. HMDA 용액에 침적하여 표면 가교한 PPO 음이온 교환막을 축전식 탈염에 적용한 결과 그 탈염 성능은 가교하지 않은 막과 비교하여 흡착단계의 초기 부분을 제외하고 거의 차이가 없었다.

Treatment of organic dye solutions by electrodialysis

  • Laboratory tests were performed to determine the efficiency of dye solution desalination by electrodialysis. The study involved anionic dye and mineral salt recovery by obtaining two streams from a salt and dye mixture - dye-rich solution and salt solution. A standard anion-exchange and cation-exchange membranes or monovalent selective anion-exchange membranes were used in the ED stack. It was found that the separation efficiency was strongly dependent on the dye molecular weight. The best results for standard ion-exchange membranes were achieved for the desalination of Direct Black solution. Furthermore, the obtained results implied that the application of monovalent selective anion-exchange membranes improved the recovery of dye and salt solutions - the dye concentration in the diluate remained constant irrespective of the molecular weight of anionic dyes, whereas the salt recovery remained very high (99.5%).

Continuous ion-exchange membrane electrodialysis of mother liquid discharged from a salt-manufacturing plant and transport of Cl- ions and SO42- ions

  • Mother liquid discharged from a salt-manufacturing plant was electrodialyzed at 25 and $40^{\circ}C$ in a continuous process integrated with $SO_4{^{2-}}$ ion low-permeable anion-exchange membranes to remove $Na_2SO_4$ and recover NaCl in the mother liquid. Performance of electrodialysis was evaluated by measuring ion concentration in a concentrated solution, permselectivity coefficient of $SO_4{^{2-}}$ ions against $Cl^-$ ions, current efficiency, cell voltage, energy consumption to obtain one ton of NaCl and membrane pair characteristics. The permselectivity coefficient of $SO_4{^{2-}}$ ions against $Cl^-$ ions was low enough particularly at $40^{\circ}C$ and $SO_4{^{2-}}$ transport across anion-exchange membranes was prevented successfully. Applying the overall mass transport equation, $Cl^-$ ion and $SO_4{^{2-}}$ ion transport across anion-exchange membranes is evaluated. $SO_4{^{2-}}$ ion transport number is decreased due to the decrease of electro-migration of $SO_4{^{2-}}$ ions across the anion-exchange membranes. $SO_4{^{2-}}$ ion concentration in desalting cells becomes higher than that in concentration cells and $SO_4{^{2-}}$ ion diffusion is accelerated across the anion-exchange membranes from desalting cells toward concentrating cells.

  • 상업적으로 이용되는 폴리스티렌계 이온교환막은 제조 공정이 쉽고 간단하지만 막이 가지는 취성 때문에 내구성이 약하다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 이를 보완하기 위하여 친수성 그룹인 poly(ethylene glycol)을 곁사슬로 가지고 있는 poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether methacrylate를 공중합시켜 음이온 교환막을 합성하였다. 지지체로는 내화학성 및 기계적 강도가 우수한 다공성 PE 지지체를 사용하였고, 여기에 다양한 조성의 vinylbenzyl chloride, styrene, poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether methacrylate, divinylbenzene, benzoyl peroxide를 녹인 단량체 용액을 지지체 기공에 채운 뒤 열중합 가교시켜 trimethylamine을 이용하여 음이온 교환기를 도입해 세공충전 음이온 교환막을 합성하였다. 또한 poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether methacrylate의 곁사슬 길이와 각 단량체가 차지하는 비율의 변화가 음이온 교환막의 전기화학적 특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다.

  • 수용액에서 음이온을 제거하기 위하여 다양한 종류의 유기/무기 복합음이온교환수지를 제조하였다. 제조된 음이온교환수지들은 질소흡탈착 실험, 적외선분광실험, 원소분석 등을 통하여 그 특성을 조사하였다. 또한 제조된 음이온교환수지의 음이온 교환 특성을 조사하기 위하여 배치(batch) 실험과 키네틱(kinetic) 실험을 수행하였다. 제조된 시료들 가운데 트리메틸암모늄 기능기를 사용했을 때보다 트리부틸암모늄 기능기를 사용하였을 때 더욱 큰 흡착량을 나타내었는데, 이것은 호프마이스터 효과와도 부합된다. 또한, 소수성기를 다량 보유하고 있는 계면활성제인 헥사데실아민도 소수성 음이온에 대한 교환능이 있는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this study, several anion exchange membranes were successfully prepared by radiation grafting of vinylbenzyl chloride (VBC) monomer onto a polyethylene-co-tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) film and subsequent quaternarization with diamins such as 1,4-diazbicyclo[2,2,2]octane, N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,3-diaminopropane, N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,6-diaminohexane, and trimethylamine. The anion exchange capacities of the prepared membranes were determined by using acid-base titration method. The cross-sectional morphology of the membranes was studied by using SEM instrument. The cross-sectional distribution patterns of the grafted polymers with anion exchange functional groups were also studied by EDX analysis.

무기첨가제 규소텅스텐산이 음이온교환 복합막 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Silicotungstic Acid as Inorganic Filler on the Properties of Anion Exchange Composite Membranes)

  • In this study, we synthesized a poly(pheneylene oxide) (PPO)-based organic/inorganic composite membrane having silicotungstic acid (STA) for the development of an anion exchange membrane with excellent ionic conductivity and physicochemical stability. The organic/inorganic composite membranes were prepared by introducing different STA contents (0 wt%, 10 wt%, 30 wt%, and 50 wt%) into the quaternizaed(Q)-PPO matrix. The prepared anion exchange membranes were subjected to structural analysis by proton neclear magnetic resonance and Fourier transform infrared, and thermal behavior of membranes was confirmed by thermogravimetric analysis. Among the prepared composite membranes, the ion conductivity of Q-PPO/STA-50 (40.5 mS cm-1) showed 1.46 times compared to that of the pristine membrane (27.6 mS cm-1). Therefore, these results demonstrated that organic/inorganic composite membranes are promising candidates for application of anion exchange membranes.
