Fish Schooling Behavior Simulator for the Contents Production of Cyber Underwater Environment (가상 해저 환경 콘텐츠 제작을 위한 Fish 군중행동 시뮬레이터)

  • Crowd behaviors on cyber underwater environment are often produced in entertainment contents, such as films and games. It is easy for us to come in contact with the scenes appearing a lot of characters as digital films and animation works are increased gradually, owing to developing of computer graphics. Though the processing a scene of crowd and the behavior system of crowd, related to the processing techniques of crowd behavior in cyber space, have been implemented so far, the research for developing the natural crowd behavior simulator can not be still satisfying. In this paper, we designed a realistic and efficient Fish Schooling Behavior Simulator for the contents production of cyber underwater environment, which showed each type of fish behavior in cyber underwater smartly, and which generated the animating the behavior automatically, reducing the time and cost.

The Brand Communication Effect of QR Code for Product Package Design (제품 포장 디자인에서의 QR 코드가 브랜드 커뮤니케이션에 미치는 효과)

  • Using of QR(Quick Response) code is dramatically extended to various marketing area; not only substitute of bar code but also new tool of PR and marketing. This research attempts to analyze brand communication effect using QR code printed on product package especially in snack product category. Findings are 1) communication effect are different according to the type of book-trailers; 2) cinematic production and animation are the most effective type of book-trailers; 3) for memory and confirmation(sharing), a)stills and straplines, Analysis result of hypothesis I showed that characters of QR code influence on brand attitude. Among dependent variables, only reliability is significant. That means reliability of company and brand using QR code influence on brand attitude. The higher reliability of QR code, the better brand attitude of the brand. Analysis result of hypothesis II found that only reliability is significant on purchasing intention. Reliability of company and product using QR code influences on purchasing intention. The higher reliability of QR code, the higher possibility of purchasing products. Therefore, company can enhance reliability of both company and its products by using QR code. Using QR code will bring high reliability and high brand attitude and purchasing intention.

  • It takes quite amount of time to study a board game because there are many game characters and different stages are exist for board games. Also, the opponent is not just a single character that means it is not one on one game, but group vs. group. That is why strategy is needed, and therefore applying optimum learning is a must. If there were equal result that both are considered to be best ones during the course of learning stage, Heuristic which utilizes learning of problem area of Jul-Gonu was used to improve the speed of learning. To compare a normal character to an improved one, a jul-gonu game was created, and then they fought against each other. Improved character considered distance and attacked other one. As a result, improved character's ability was improved on learning speed.

  • The development of computer graphics techniques came after development of various entertainment industry such as movies, game and so on, and techniques that make diverse objects in virtual space and control the action of objects are growing rapidly. Especially objects(characters) play an important role in encouraging virtual space at computer animation field. If lots of objects are animated in virtual space, undesired matters of fixed topography or collision between objects etc occur. In order to solve this problem, we need control techniques in detail. This paper presents and implements collision evasion with submarine topography in a virtual aquarium and control technique about collision evasion with other objects.

  • While many games have been published that are used with input-devices such as a mouse and keyboard, the number of games that can recognize the behavior of a human utilizing devices such as Kinect and Wii has increased. In this paper, we present the development of a baseball game that utilizes a Leap Motion Controller. A Leap Motion Controller recognizes accurately the movement of a user's fingers. Our implemented game consists of characters, a background and animation. It is a moving animated game in which the users play a game in point of view of a third person. The major feature of our game is that the game players can enjoy the game using a Leap Motion Controller.

  • This paper presents an interactive locomotion controller using motion capture data and inverted pendulum model. Most of the data-driven character controller using motion capture data have two kinds of limitation. First, it needs many example motion capture data to generate realistic motion. Second, it is difficult to make natural-looking motion when characters navigate dynamic terrain. In this paper, we present a technique that uses dimension reduction technique to motion capture data together with the Gaussian process dynamical model (GPDM), and interpolates the low-dimensional data to make final motion. With the low-dimensional data, we can make realistic walking motion with few example motion capture data. In addition, we apply the inverted pendulum model (IPM) to calculate the root trajectory considering the real-time user input upon the dynamic terrain. Our method can be used in game, virtual training, and many real-time applications.

  • This paper presents a method that generates various facial expressions of vector graphic character by using the simplified principle component vector. First, we analyze principle components to the nine facial expression(astonished, delighted, etc.) redefined based on Russell's internal emotion state. From this, we find principle component vector having the biggest effect on the character's facial feature and expression and generate the facial expression by using that. Also we create natural intermediate characters and expressions by interpolating weighting values to character's feature and expression. We can save memory space considerably, and create intermediate expressions with a small computation. Hence the performance of character generation system can be considerably improved in web, mobile service and game that real time control is required.

  • Barrage language is a new media language based on Internet video. It is a representative expression of the Internet environment regardless of its format and content. As a unique movie viewing characteristic provided by the barrage function, the timeliness of feedback, entertainment, and interactivity of the content are excellent. Characteristic. Barrage language itself is closely related not only to the value of linguistic research, but also to the spread of the Internet in the Internet environment. Based on the current situation of Chinese video sites, this thesis explores how Barrage is an organic cycle of culture and consumption in a specific platform and group, and analyzes its propagation methods and effects.   • Comics and cartoons of superheroes in the West have adopted various semiotic systems and other art-forms, including their politico-socio-economic condition, and made parody of other popular texts, as well. Based on the idea of the development of superhero genre, this article focuses on how East Asian popular texts appropriate and reconstruct the genre, which was once considered the realization of American idea, by analyzing a series of TV animation (Japan, Sunrise,2011). Through the feature of parody with intertextuality, provides East Asian value and sensibility of characters as corporation-centered modern humans in capitalist society. This animation has similarity and difference, compared to that of Western superhero cartoons. It satires Western capitalist society and emphasizes Eastern family-oriented value. The performances of superheroes on TV represent the satire on Western style individualism and estimation through each one's achievement. It metaphorically criticizes the situation in which modern human falls into dependency on capital and media, and the capitalistic system in which public good is used for the method of private profit. emphasizes East Asian value of human and society, the cooperative relation for the success and maintenance of community by combining members of state and society through familial sensibility. Tiger functions as a spiritual leader in the group of superheroes who have been obsessed with competition for their own private purpose rather than public cause, Bunny and other colleagues are gradually influenced by Tiger's familial communicative style. emphasizes community-centered view and self-sacrificing sensibility as an international citizen to solve social pathology of modern world.

A Study on the Visual Attention of Popular Animation Characters Utilizing Eye Tracking (아이트래킹을 활용한 인기 애니메이션 캐릭터의 시각적 주의에 관한 연구)

  • Visual perception information acquired through human eyes contains much information on how to view visual stimuli using eye tracking technology, it is possible to acquire and analyze consumer visual information as quantitative data. These measurements can be used to measure emotions that customers feel unconsciously, and they can be directly collected by numerically quantifying the character's search response through eye tracking. In this study, we traced the character's area of interest (AOI) and found that the average of fixation duration, count, average of visit duration, count, and finally the time to first fixation was analyzed. As a result of analysis, it was found that there were many cognitive processing processes on the face than the character's body, and the visual attention was high. The visual attention of attraction factor has also been able to verify that attraction is being presented as an important factor in determining preferences for characters. Based on the results of this study, further studies of more characters will be conducted and quantitative interpretation methods can be used as basic data for character development and factors to be considered in determining character design.
