This paper proposes techniques to diagnose short-circuit faults of both the diodes and power FET in switching mode power supply (SMPS) by using a simple analog tester. The diodes in full-bridge rectifier, power FET, switching transformer, and some sensors are modelled with resistor. The total resistance value measured at the input terminal of a SMPS is analyzed when the short-circuit faults of diodes in a full bridge rectifier or power FET are occurred. The short-circuit faults of one or two diodes in a full bridge rectifier, power FET, and both the diodes in a full bridge rectifier and power FET can be detected by a range of total resistance, which is measured by the analog tester. Through experiments, the theoretical analysis for total resistance under short-circuit faults can be verified.

The digital systems such as PLC or DCS have been applied to non-safety systems of nuclear power plants because of many difficulties in using analog systems. Nowadays, digital systems have been applied to safety systems of the plants such as reactor protection system. One of the main advantages of digital systems is applicability of automatic testing methods to the systems. The protection system requires high-reliability and high-availability because it shall minimize the propagation of abnormal or accident conditions of nuclear power plants. The calculation of reliability and availability of systems depends on the maintenance period of the system. In general, the maintenance period of the protection system is one-month in case of the manual test. However, the cycle of test can be shortened in several hours by using automatic periodic testing. The reliability and availability of the system is better when test period is shortened because the reliability and availability is inverse proportion to the test period. In this research, we developed the automatic periodic testing method for KNICS Reactor Protection System, which can test the system automatically without an operator or a tester. The automatic testing contained all functions of reaction protection systems from analog-to-digital conversion function of the bistable Processor to the coincident trip function of the coincident processor. By applying the automatic periodic testing to reaction system, the maintenance cost can be cut down and the reliability can be increased.
In general, analog tester or strip chart recorder have been used to measure the corrosion potential of structures such as gas pipelines, oil pipelines, hot water pipelines, power cables etc. Recently, automatic digital data logger substitutes for these manual equipment because using these manual equipments are tedious and time consuming. However, digital data logger also has a shortcoming, that is, short measuring time because of the short lifetime of batteries. Therefore, we developed a long lifetime and low power loss battery taking advantage of galvanic series. In this paper, the results of development for power generator using two metals and DC/DC converter in order to obtain enough voltage for the operation of digital data logger. DC/DC converter operates with 0.5[V]. Its output voltage is 3.5[V] and output current is from 60[mAh] to 1,200[mAh].
This paper proposes an expert system which is able to enhance the accuracy and productivity by determining the test strategy based on heuristic rules for test of the hybrid electronic circuit board producted massively in production line. The test heuristic rules are obtained from test system designer, test experts and experimental results. The guarding method separating the tested device with circumference circuit of the device is adopted to enhance the accuracy of measurements in the test of analog devices. This guarding method can reduce the error occurring due to the voltage drop in both the signal input line and the measuring line by utilizing heuristic rules considering the device impedance and the parallel impedance. Also, PSA(Parallel Signature Analysis) technique Is applied for test of the digital devices and circuits. In the PSA technique, the real-time test of the high integrated device is possible by minimizing the test time forcing n bit output stream from the tested device to LFSR continuously. It is implemented in Visual C++ computer language for the purpose of the implementation of the inference engine using the dynamic memory allocation technique, the interface with the electronic circuit database and the hardware direct control. Finally, the effectiveness of the builded expert system is proved by simulating the several faults occurring in the mounting process the electronic devices to the surface of PCB for a typical hybrid electronic board and by identifying the results.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare sling exercise group to McKenzie exercise group in patients with chronic neck pain. Design: Two group pretest-posttest design. Methods: Twenty subjects who have chronic neck pain were randomly divided into sling exercise group (n=10) and McKenzie exercise (n=10). Sling exercise group (n=10) received sling exercise for 30 minutes per day, twice a week over a 4 week period. And the other group were exercised McKenzie exercise (n=8) for 30 minutes per day, twice a week over a 4 week period. Neck disability index (NDI), Visual analog scale (VAS), algometer, digital manual muscle tester (MMT) and cervical muscle strength and cervical range of motion (ROM) are closely measured to identify the effect of sling exercise and McKenzie exercise. Results: For NDI, VAS, algometer on both trapezius, both rotation of cervical muscle strength, both lateral flexion of cervical muscle strength, cervical extension of ROM and both lateral flexion of ROM were significantly increased after intervention in sling exercise group (p<0.05), For VAS, algometer on both trapezius, left (Lt.) rotation of cervical muscle strength, Lt. lateral flexion of cervical muscle strength, cervical flexion and extension of ROM and Lt. lateral flexion of ROM were significantly increased after than before intervention in McKenzie exercise group (p<0.05). Conclusions: These study outcomes clearly support the notion that sling and McKenzie exercise improved pain, Muscle strength and ROM of patients with chronic neck pain. These results suggest that sling and McKenzie exercise program is suitable for chronic neck pain.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of eccentric contraction training (ECT) and concentric contraction training (CCT) on the muscle thickness (MT), muscle strength (MS) and delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS) of the lower extremities in persons with chronic stroke. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: Thirty persons with chronic stroke were randomly assigned to the ECT or the CCT group. The ECT was performed in a specially designed system of eccentric contraction of both legs and, the CCT was performed using a traditional stepper system for concentric contraction of both legs. The training was performed for 30 min/times, 3 times/wk for 6 weeks. Rehabilitation ultrasound imaging was used to measure MT of the vastus medialis/lateralis (VL), and soleus (SOL), a digital muscle tester was used to measure MS, and a visual analog scale was used to assess DOMS. Results: In the ECT group, MT was significantly improved except for SOL resting (p<0.01). In the CCT group, the MT was significantly improved except for VL contraction (p<0.05). The MS was significantly improved in both groups, especially in the ECT group (p<0.01). In the ECT group, muscle soreness was highest in the first week after training but gradually decreased, and in the CCT group, it was highest in the second week of training but gradually decreased (p<0.01). Conclusions: ECT can improve lower limb MT, MS, and DOMS of chronic stroke survivors. Therefore, it is recommended that ECT be used in the rehabilitation of persons with chronic stroke.
