Ahn's Ilminism and the Qualifying Conditions of the Spontaneous Practical Philosophy (안호상의 일민주의 철학과 자생적 실천철학의 자격 조건)

  • In this article, I intend to try to suggest the more persuasive answer to the basic practical philosophical question 'Does Ilminism meet the qualifying conditions of the genuine spontaneous practical philosophy?' through various social philosophical arguments about it. For that purpose, I carry out the detailed work to examine critically main forms and mattes in the system of Ahn's Ilminsim focused on the three dimensions of the 'establishment', 'contents', and 'role' of theory. And based on the normative and practical philosophical judgement about the 'decisive' limits and problems that is revealed through such the work, the tentative answer which I propose in relation with that question whether Ilminism fully satisfies the qualifying conditions of spontaneous practical philosophy in its truest sense or not is 'No.' At this time, decisive limits and problems refer to fatal main factors which prevent Iminism from gaining the title as a practical philosophy in its truest sense.

Fast and Safe Contact Establishment Strategy for Biped Walking Robot (이족 보행 로봇을 위한 빠르고 안전한 접촉 생성 전략)

  • One of the most challenging issues when robots interact with the environment is to establish contact quickly and avoid high impact force at the same time. The proposed method implements the passive suspension system using the redundancy of the torque-controlled robot. Instead of utilizing the actual mechanical compliance, the distal joints near the end-effector are controlled to act as a virtual spring-damper system with low feedback gains. The proximal joints are precisely controlled to push the mid-link, which is defined as the boundary link between the proximal and distal joints, towards the environment with high feedback gains. Compared to the active compliance methods, the contact force measurements or estimates are not required for contact establishment and the control time delay problems do not occur correspondingly. The proposed method was applied to the landing foot control of the 12-DoF biped robot DYROS-RED in the simulations. In the results, the impact force during landing was significantly reduced at the same collision speed.

Variation of Filamentous Periphyton Chlorophyll-a in accordance with Water Velocity and Specific Surface Area of Media in Small Urban Stream (도시 소하천에서 유속, 비표면적에 따른 사상형 부착조류의 Chlorophyll-a 변화)

  • The feasibility of water supply as in-stream flow for Mangwall stream was analyzed in terms of water quality and cultivation periphyton using two different types of water resources (e.g., surface water and bank filtration from Han River basin) and three different types of media (e.g., tile, concrete and pebble). The concentrations of organic and inorganic contaminants from the bank filtration were lower than those from surface water by 17.5 - 55.0%. Using water samples collected from Mangwall stream, surface water, and bank filtration, chlorophyll-a, phaeopigment, and growth rate of periphyton were investigated. During 30 day incubation for each water sample, it was observed that filamentous cyanobacteria, Oscillatoriaceae, accounted for 98%, and water velocity of 5 cm/s was optimum for the in situ filamentous cyanobacteria growth. Also, it was deducted for water velocity and chl-a to have an inverse correlation. Meanwhile, the greater the specific surface area of media, the higher the concentration of chl-a. From these results, both water velocity and specific surface area of media should be considered as an combined parameter to deter the growth of filamentous cyanobacteria.

Experimental Study on Effect on Prey Survival by Juvenile Fish Shelter (JFS) under Pressure by Piscivorous Fishes (포식압력 하에 치어 보호 구조물이 피식자의 생존율에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate artificial fish shelter, which was known to increase prey survival and expand habitat space to improve species diversity and fish communities in a freshwater ecosystem. The experiment was performed at an outdoor test-bed for three months from 2011 by comparing the responses to adjustments in the volume of the artificial patch (juvenile fish shelter, JFS) in the control and experimental groups. Analysis of the environmental conditions over two periods (Period1 ~ 2) showed minor differences in the physichemical characteristics of water quality, phytoplankton, and zooplankton biomass, thus, allowing comparative analysis of feeding ecology. However, high water temperature conditions in Period1 ($25.6{\pm}2.0^{\circ}C$), affected the predation activity of the piscivorous fishes, Coreoperca herzi (C. herzi, size $89{\pm}4mm$). Survival rates of the prey fishes, Rhynchocypris oxycephalus (R. oxycephalus, size $29{\pm}1mm$), improved as the patch volume increased and were higher than those of the control group by 35.9 ~ 46.7%. Analysis showed that JFS reduced the chances of predator-prey encounter, and thereby minimized prey vulnerability.

Characteristics of Particle Separation in Water Using Lab-Scale Acoustic Standing Wave (실험실 규모의 음향정재파를 이용한 수중의 입자분리 특성)

  • Characteristics of particle separation in water using labscale acoustic standing wave were studied. Acoustic standing wave is similar to either sound wave or ultrasonic, which makes a constant wave while returning to the origin by reflector. During that time, particulates dispersed in water are collected on the node of wave, where a sound pressure is zero. Acoustic standing wave transducer as of 28.0 kHz and 1.0 MHz were utilized and $6.8{\mu}m$ kaolin and $100.5{\mu}m$ redmud in average diameter were used as experimental materials in water. Once acoustic standing wave are generated in water, water temperature rises by $0.15{\sim}0.20^{\circ}C/min$ due to a sound pressure. Initial concentration of kaolin and redmud were controlled to have same as of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 g/L, respectively. Removal efficiency of the turbidity in a reacting chamber after 5 minutes, when acoustic sound wave was formed in most distinct, was measured to have 18.2~56.2% for kaolin and 23.0~53.6% for redmud at 1.0 MHz. Particle separation was not observed at 28.0 kHz.

Analysis of Research Trend and Development Direction on Domestic and International Noise Barriers (국내외 방음벽 관련 연구동향 분석 및 개발 방향)

  • The demand for noise barriers and necessity for the installation are highly growing because residential areas have become diverse and locational priority is changed to consider how to approach highway easily. However, public annoyance to the noise generated from highway is continued despite lots of noise barrier are installed. Moreover, there are growing concerns to maintain noise barriers to be free from losing transparency, dust stack, and shock fracture. To resolve these issues, it is suggested to develop new polymer materials and conceptually new noise barrier. In this study, as a first step to develop a new noise barrier to overcome current technological challenges as well as economic issues, recent research trends have been analyzed and found the direction for the future research in terms of material, supplementary function, and patterning.

Recent Developments and Field Application of Foreign Waterworks Automatic Meter Reading (국외 상수도 원격검침시스템의 개발 동향 및 현장 적용 사례 고찰)

  • The market trends of automatic meter reading associated with smart water meters were investigated. Also, recent developments and field applications of key technology for automatic meter reading associated with smart water meters were analyzed. Smart water meters have been manufactured mostly in United States and Europe and have been expanded their business to Asia. Integrated water management system combining with the additional functions such as real-time consumption metering, cost notification, water conservation, leak detection, water quality monitoring, and flow control have been operated in automatic meter reading. Both water quality and quantity data measured from smart water meters and sensors were transferred to data concentration units through neighborhood area network, and then were transferred to integrated server through wide area network. The data transfer methods were determined by comprehensively considering urban scale, density of smart water meters, power supply and network topologies. Common data collection methods such as fixed network to data concentation units, vehicles drive by, people walk by, and drone fly by have been applied. The automatic meter reading associated with smart water meters are spread throughout the world, and both water and energy savings result in saving the money and reducing the greenhouse gases emission.

An Experimental Approach to Secure Freshwater Fish Shelter according to the Water Level Fluctuations in a Shallow Pond (얕은 연못에서 수위변동에 따른 담수 어류 피난처 확보를 위한 실험적 접근)

  • Physical disturbance, which induces a lack of flow rate, frequently occurs in freshwater ecosystem. Due to this, it is required to provide a new fish shelter to resolve. We installed a pilot scale test-bed to scrutinize the relationship between water level and the influence of fish shelter. The proposed ADP (artificial deep pool) is a fish shelter which composed of concrete materials. From the monitoring results in test-bed, it was observed that the population of fish was the highest at the 0.5 m in depth from the water level of experimental pond. But it was more appropriate for shallow water level (<0.3 m) to conserve the total number of fish by increasing the number per unit area despite of lower inner temperature and DO than outer environment. Therefore, inner of ADP was more efficient lentic system for fish to live due to higher WCS, OS, SS, and TS. In addition, there was a relative abundance of WCS fish species such as Acheilognathus koreensis (A. koreensis), Carassius carassius (C. carassius). Considered these results, it is suggested that ADP is appropriate to use for fish shelter and habitat for the fishes in lentic ecosystem.

The Analysis of Effect of Surface Shape and Pattern of Noise Barrier Panel on the Noise Reduction (방음벽 전면형상에 따른 소음 효과 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In recent decades, a lot of noise barriers have been installed along paved road in order to reduce the road induced noise, which increases as traffic volume grows. For better range of sight, transparent noise barriers are widely installed despite of reflecting noise. In this study, the effect of surface shape and pattern of noise barriers on the reduction of reflecting noise was analyzed to maximize the noise reduction. According to the number of shape and pattern, it was observed that there were noise reduction effect as of 0.9~1.5 dB(A). It was found that the spatial field where the noise concentrates or disperses changes according to the width of blocks on the barriers as well. It suggests that there might be possibility of surface shape modification to optimize the noise reduction technology.

An Experimental Study on Air Evacuation from Lunar Soil Mass and Lunar Dust Behavior for Lunar Surface Environment Simulation (달 지상환경 모사를 위한 지반 진공화 및 달먼지 거동에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • For sustainable lunar exploration, the most required resources should be procured on site because it takes tremendous cost to transfer the resources from the Earth to the Moon. The technologies required for use of lunar resources refers to In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU). As the ISRU technology cannot be verified in the Earth, a lunar surface environment simulator is necessary to be prepared in advance. The Moon has no atmosphere, and the average temperature of the lunar surface reaches to $107^{\circ}C$ during the daytime and $-153^{\circ}C$ at night. The lunar surface is also covered with very fine soils with sharp particles that are electrostatically charged by solar radiation and solar wind. In this research, generation of vacuum environment with lunar soil mass in a chamber and simulation of electrostatically charged soils are taken into consideration. It was successful to make a vacuum environment of a chamber including lunar soils without soil disturbance by controlling evacuation rate of a vacuum chamber. And an experiment procedure for simulating the charged lunar soil was suggested by theoretical consideration in charging phenomena on lunar dust.
