Content Analysis and Development of Rural Amenity Education Contents for the Textbooks of Agricultural Highschool (농업계고등학교 교과서의 농촌어메니티 내용분석 및 교육내용 개발)

  • 21st century has begun as an age of green growth. Development paradigms disregarding environmental sustainability are being changed and henceforth, stronger efforts should be made to discover and utilize green values. With the importance of green values, rural amenity which is in the spotlight as a new channel to change the way people think about depressed agriculture and rural community could be the key to discover green values of rural area. This study is to emphasize rural amenity and to rectify prejudiced and distorted contents of agriculture and rural community in agricultural highschool textbooks. By doing this, students of agricultural highschool who will lead agriculture in the future will come to recognize the importance of agriculture and rural area and discovering it's values. This study was done through analysis and development of contents in 39 kinds of textbooks of Agricultural highschool. A content analysis was employed to examine to what extent the contents on agriculture and rural community were reflected in the textbooks of agriculture highschool. And 262 new education contents formulating positive and exact rural amenity concept were developed and 62 of them were included in textbooks.

Status Survey on Satisfaction Contentment and Career Plan of Students Majoring in Agricultural Machinery in Technical High Schools (전문계 고등학교 농업기계 관련학과 재학생 전공 만족도 및 진로계획 실태조사)

  • This study was conducted to collect basic data for establishing a revitalization plan for agricultural machinery departments in technical high schools. A status survey on satisfaction and career plan of students majoring in agricultural machinery in technical highschool was measured. The survey results showed that the selection motivation for technical high school was mainly due to the academic score obtained during middle school, and an academic major for agricultural machinery was mainly based on personal interest and aptitude. About 90% of the students answered as "normal" or "satisfied" to the questions asking satisfaction level for agricultural machinery major and education. For career plan, 68.5% of the students answered as "entrance into academic schools for higher level education" and 31.5% answered as "employment". Most preferred higher level education area was "engineering" (30.8%) and "agricultural machinery" was only 12.6%. Expecting employment area was also automobile or other industrial machinery rather than agricultural machinery.

  • As an effort to realize the results of last two years of study, this study had three distinguished purposes: 1) confirming whether some requests for corrections had been accepted or not 2) making a list of possible errors found in newly written textbooks and asking to fix them, and 3) classifying forest related contents identified in the textbooks according to the 150 topics included in information material, so called Forest IQ 200. Among 94 errors associated trees, forest or forest education, only thirteen of them were found to be fixed according to the request made in previous study of 2008. Especially, most of the fixed errors were identified to be in natural and social science subject textbooks and nothing was found in art and language areas. Total of 1,320 forest related items were found in the textbooks at the level of kindergarten to 10th grade(freshman in highschool). Korean student was expect to have a chance to learn forest related items 1.64 times a week for 10 years(First to 10th grade). Analyzing 1,109 contents in terms of four topic areas of forest education, the forest culture area was found to have most content of 348 including painting and recreation. Some suggestions were made to make school forest education better, and publishing the forest textbook for elementary schools was one of them.

Fermented Soybean Products Culture for the Residents in Yangsan City I. The Use Patterns of Fermented Soybean Products (양산지역 주민의 장류 문화 I. 장의 담금 실태)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the use patterns of traditional fermented soybean products(Jang) in Yangsan city. Two hundred eighty seven housewives living in Yangsan joined this survey practiced by Yangsan City Agricultural Development Center. 49.0% of these housewives graduated from a highschool, and 77.4% is in 30s or 40s. Most(69.3%) of respondents themselves have made Jang at home and the preparation frequency of Jang became higher with getting older. This survey showed that the preparation frequency of Jang in large family living with parents is higher than in nuclear family. The Jang preparation tendency of housewives living in the independent home was higher than that of apartment. Most of respondents replied the preparation method of Jang has been learned from mother or mother-inlaw. On the other hand, in the case of no making Jang at home, they bring it generally from relatives or buy it at the market. And 59.8% of housewives anted to participate in the education of Jang preparation.

  • In the process of oyster mushroom production, loading work of culture medium needs the most intensive labor power and cost. Therefore, the development of culture medium loading machine causes to reduce the manpower and cost. The main objectives of this study are identify cultivating environment, physical properties of culture medium and to make an element design of culture medium loading machine. The results are summarized as follows: 1. The moisture content and density of popularly used culture medium were 70%(w.b), $26\;kg/m^3$, respectively. 2. Pressure of the blower increased as the impeller speed increased, and the opening ratio of pressure controller decreased. 3. Recommendable c1earance(${\delta}$) between an impeller plate and a blower case was 25 mm at an impeller speed of 3183 rpm 4. Discharge device of type B with a hopper and suit was better than type A with a hopper.

  • In the process of oyster mushroom production, loading work of culture medium needs the most intensive labor power. Therefore, development of culture medium machine causes to reduce the manpower and cost. The main objective of this study is to develop the culture medium loading machine and investigate the optimal operation conditions and to evaluate the economic value of the machine. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Optimum transporting velocity of the conveyor was 0.61 m/s 2. Optimum speed of blower was 3183 rpm at the transporting velocity of 0.61 m/s with the loading quantity of 3.41 t/hr 3. Recommendable opening area ratio of pressure controller was 1/2 at the blower speed of 3183 rpm and the transporting velocity of 0.61 m/s 4. The break even point resulted in $240\;m^2$ of cultivating area compared to the method of with portable workbench, and $350\;m^2$ of cultivating area compared to the method of with a tractor and a truck.

A Comparative Study on Awareness of Environment Friendly Behavior and Barriers to Implementing the Actions between Students and Environment Teachers (환경친화적 행동과 실천 장벽에 관한 학생과 교사의 인식 비교)

  • This study was motivated to understand ways in which actors (students) perceived internal and external conditions of actions in determining responsibility of so-called environment friendly actions. To understand hidden reasons by which students conduct specific environmental actions more or less frequently may be more important and meaningful for environment teachers than to measure and know the frequency that their students do such actions. This study has been implemented by applying questionnaire survey to 752 ruddle school and high school students and 211 environment teachers. To test the hypothesis of this study that there would be significant differences in awareness of environment friendly actions and barriers to implementing those actions between students and environment teachers, frequency analysis and f-test have been conducted. Primary results of this study can be summarized as follows; It has been found that there were a number of evidences showing significant differences in awareness of environment friendly behavior between students and teachers. In term of action frequency, significant differences have been observed in 11 of the listed 20 actions. Similar resulted have been found in terms of perceived difficult, perceived effectiveness, and perceived guilty. These results seem to support an argument that the current list-making and checklist style of connecting students to so-called environment friendly actions need to be reviewed in a critical manner.

The Properties of Kenaf/Polyester Blended Nonwovens (케나프/폴리에스테르 혼방 부직포의 특성)

  • Nonwovens have been widely used in various regions from the households to the industrial, agricultural and medical goods. Synthetic fibers have been used for source of nonwovens commonly because of their useful and economic properties. They are not only main factor causing environmental problems but also spend huge cost to renew the environmental disruption by them. Nonwovens must have both cost-competitiveness and environment-friendly property to be the desirable sources in 21th centuries. For meet these needs, it is suitable for the times that economical and environmentally-safe kenaf fibers would be used as raw materials of nonwovens. Kenaf and polyester fibers were blended in 4 types of ratio : 0/100, 20/80, 40/60, 60/40 were needle-punched. The nonwovens properties such as color values, surface appearance, strength, elongations, stiffness, moisture regain, water and oil absorbency, and electrification were tested. As the results, tensile and tear strengths, water and oil absorbency were maximum at 20/80 kenaf/polyester blend nonwoven, because of effecting by nonwoven structure and fiber properties. The moisture regain were increased according to kenaf were blended and the eletrification reduced in proportion to the kenaf fibers by chemical property of fiber composed nonwovens.

The Subjective Study of the High School Students on the Business Management of College (경영계열에 대한 고등학생의 주관성 연구)

  • This study started from the question of what is the perception of high school students' college of management, 'business school', which is the demand of university education. Especially, for the analysis, the Q methodology was used to typify the recognition. 30 high school students classified 30 selected Q-statements into 9points standard. As a result of analysis, three types were defined. emphasized 'overall management', 'business', and 'money management'. So, we called "Type of Overall Business Interest". emphasized 'money management' 'Member Management'. So, we called "Type of Management Money and Member". And emphasized 'business', 'marketing' and 'sales'. So, we called "Type of Business Recognition". In addition, we found a hypothesis that high school students' perception of the business line would be different according to the characteristics of the respondents.

Changes of Bacterial Diversity Depend on the Spoilage of Fresh Vegetables (신선 채소류의 부패에 따른 세균의 다양성 변화 및 세균에 의한 채소 부패 조사)

  • Almost 10~30% of vegetables were discarded by the spoilage from farms to tables. After harvest, vegetables are often spoiled by a wide variety of microorganisms including many bacterial and fungal species. This investigation was conducted to extent the knowledge of relationship the spoilage of vegetables and the diversity of microbes. The total aerobic bacterial numbers in fresh lettuce, perilla leaf, and chicory were $2.6{\sim}2.7{\times}10^6$, $4.6{\times}10^5$, $1.2{\times}10^6\;CFU/g$ of fresh weight, respectively. The most common bacterial species were Pseudomonas spp., Alysiella spp., and Burkholderia spp., and other 18 more genera were involved in. After one week of incubation of those vegetables at $28^{\circ}C$, the microbial diversity had been changed. The total aerobic bacterial numbers increased to $1.1{\sim}4.6{\times}10^8$, $4.9{\times}10^7$, and $7.6{\times}10^8\;CFU/g$ of fresh weight for lettuce, perilla leaf, and chicory that is about $10^2$ times increased bacterial numbers than that before spoilage. However, the diversity of microbes isolated had been simplified and fewer bacterial species had been isolated. The most bacterial population (~48%) was taken up by Pseudomonas spp., and followed by Arthrobacter spp. and Bacillus spp. The spoilage activity of individual bacterial isolates had been tested using axenic lettuce plants. Among tested isolates, Pseudomonas fluorescence and Pantoea agglomerans caused severe spoilage on lettuce.
