  • This paper presents a robust controller design approach for improving vehicle dynamic roll motion performance and guaranteeing the closed-loop system stability in spite of vehicle parameter variations resulting from aging elements, loading patterns, and driving conditions, etc. The designed controller is linear parameter-varying (LPV) in terms of the time-varying parameters; its control objective is to minimise the $H_{\infty}$ performance from the steering input to the roll angle while satisfying the closed-loop pole placement constraint such that the optimal dynamic roll motion performance is achieved and robust stability is guaranteed. The sufficient conditions for designing such a controller are given as a finite number of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Numerical simulation using the three-degree-of-freedom (3-DOF) yaw-roll vehicle model is presented. It shows that the designed controller can effectively improve the vehicle dynamic roll angle response during J-turn or fishhook maneuver when the vehicle's forward velocity and the roll stiffness are varied significantly.

  • It's required mechanical properties of in-service facilities to maintain safety operation in power plants as well as chemical plants. In this study the four classes of the thermally aged 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V specimens were prepared using an artificially accelerated aging method at $630^{\circ}C$. Ultrasonic tests, tensile tests, $K_{IC}$ tests and hardness tests were performed in order to evaluate the degree of degradation of the material. The mechanical properties were decreased as degraded, but the attenuation coefficient and the harmonic generation level of a ultrasonic signal were increased. Expecially the nonlinear parameter of the signal is sensitive and will be a good parameter to evaluate the material degradation.

  • Peak interval for reversible permeability is presented for nondestructively evaluating the remanent life of 1Cr-0.5Mo steel. The method to measure the peak interval of reversible permeability is based on the value of reversible permeability is the same as the differential value of the hysteresis loop. The measurement principle is based on the first harmonics voltage induced in a sensing coil using a lock-in amplifier tuned to a frequency of the exciting voltage. Results obtained for the peak interval of reversible permeability and Rockwell hardness on the aged samples decrease as aging time and the Larson-Miller parameter increase. We could estimate the remanent life of 1Cr-0.5Mo steel by using the relationship between the peak interval of reversible permeability and the Larson-Miller parameter, nondestructively.

  • The aim of this study is to enhance the level of life satisfaction of the elderly as the aging population grows in readiness for increased old age, beginning with interest in improving the quality of life of the elderly. For this purpose, the subtype of preparation for aging was set as multi-independent variables by organizing it into physical preparation for aging, economic preparation for aging, and emotional & social preparation for aging. Structural relationships between variables was identified by social support a parameter variable and life satisfaction a dependent variable. It was also verified that the social support between subtypes of preparation for aging and life satisfaction had a mediating effect. The subjects of this study are 4,058 elderly people who are over the age of 65. They were originally extracted from the 3rd and 5th additional survey of Korean Retirement and Income Study. For data analysis purposes, SPSS 25.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro v2.16 were used. The results of this study are as followed. The emotional & social preparation for aging not only had a significant direct effect on successful aging, but also resulted in indirect effect on successful aging through life satisfaction. On the basis of the results, this study provided the social welfare policy and practical suggestions to enhance the preparation for aging and social support, which are the key to improving life satisfaction of the elderly.

  • An attempt was made to evaluate the degree of aging degradation in thermally aged 2.25Cr-1Mo steel by electrical resistivity measurement. Artificial aging was performed to simulate the microstructural degradation in 2.25Cr-1Mo steel arising from long time exposure at $540^{\circ}C$. Microstructural parameter (amount of solid solution element), mechanical property (ductile-brittle transition temperature) and electrical resistivity were measured to investigate the mutual relationship among these parameters. Depletion of solid solution element(Mo and Cr) in matrix was detected after aging. The ductile-brittle transition temperature(DBTT) increased rapidly in the initial stage of aging and then saturated afterward. On the other hand, the electrical resistivity decreased rapidly in the beginning and then saturated in the later stage of aging.

  • As recieved boiler tuve steel was aged artificially at $650^{\circ}C$ and$690^{\circ}C$ for various time duration to simulate the material deterioration which could be occurred during the operation of fossiol power plants. And the tensile tests, the microhardness tests and the characterization of carbides formed in the aging process were performed to asses the relationship between the mechanical properties and the effect of thermal aging. Furthernore, the amout of Mo-rich carbide were investigated by ondestructive method by noticing the fact that formation of Mo-rich carbide were investigated by ondestructive melthod by noticing the fact that formation of Mo-rich carbides($Mo_6C$) which stabilizes lastly affects the mechanical properties. It was known that the microhardness results of service exposed materials were similar to the ones which are aged at $650^{\circ}C$. The room temperature measurement showed small variation in the yield points and ultimate strength in materials aged at $650^{\circ}C$. Those properties at $540^{\circ}C$ showed the abrupt decrease compared with as received material even if short aging time. And it was found that $650^{\circ}C$ $690^{\circ}C$ aging cause different effects on mechanical properties, although the temperature time parameters(LMP;Larson-Miller parameter) are same. And it was concluded that the aigng at $650^{\circ}C$ is more appropriate to simulate the service exposed condition. Finally, the relationship between high temperature tensile properties and Ip values were established, which offers a potential way of reliability tests onthe power plant components.

  • Thin (~650 nm) and ultrathin (~50 nm) films of neat PMMA and PMMA containing 5 wt% of methacryl-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane were prepared in this work. The effects of film thickness and POSS on glass transition temperature ($T_g$) and isothermal physical aging were investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). $T_g$ depression was observed as film thickness was decreased and Ma-POSS molecules were incorporated. Enthalpy relaxation (${\Delta}H_{Relax}$) due to the isothermal physical aging was reduced by ultra-thin film thickness and the addition of Ma-POSS. KWW (Kohlrausch-Williams-Watts) equation was used to fit ${\Delta}H_{Relax}$ vs. aging time data providing the fitting parameters; maximum enthalpy recovery (${\Delta}H_{\infty}$), relaxation time (${\tau}$) and non-exponentiality parameter (${\beta}$).

  • Cylindrical array sensor of a surface ship to detect an enemy is normally installed in the sonar dome. Reflected signals by some structures inside the sonar dome make unwanted signals. To minimize unwanted signals, acoustic baffles are used. Acoustic baffles are hard to install and replace, so the durability of acoustic baffles is an important design parameter. To verify the durability of acoustic baffle, accelerated aging tests according to temperature and pressure were performed. Acoustic baffle specimens were made and they are tested the visual and the performance (echo reduction and transmission loss) inspection before and after aging. After the inspection, the effect of accelerated aging of the acoustic baffles were discussed.

  • Power factor improvement at high temperatures has been a major research topic for the development of skutterudite thermoelectric materials. Here, we attempted to optimize the process parameters for manufacturing skutterudite materials, especially for p-type systems. We focused on the effect of aging time variation to maximize the high-temperature performance of the Ce-filled Fe3CoSb12 skutterudite system. The optimized aging time was concluded to be a key parameter for the formation of single-phase nanostructures in this p-type skutterudite system. The optimized condition was effective in reducing the bipolar effect at high temperature ranges by increasing the carrier concentration in the p-type system. To confirm the conclusions, the electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, and power factor were measured. The results matched well with the microstructure and with those of an XRD analysis performed for the system.
