The effects of Educational Service Quality and Participation Intention on Educational Performance through a Case of Action Learning (교육서비스 품질과 참여의도가 교육성과 향상에 미치는 연구: Action Learning 사례를 중심으로)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of educational service quality, participation intention, and educational performance in action learning class. Methods: The proposed research model is tested using structural equation modeling for hypotheses based on the data collected from one of action learning class. Results: The results indicate that educational service quality(reliability, assurance, tangibles, empathy, information accuracy, and relationship quality) positively affects participation intention which in turn improve educational performance, including aspects of before and after class of action learning. In addition, participation intention in classroom positively affects educational performance with both groups. For after class of action learning, the result confirms the effect of responsiveness of educational service quality on participation intention, however, in before class of action learning there is not showed a significant relationship. Conclusion: This study would provide useful information and can be applied to the improvement of educational performance through the participation of students by the instructors and the educational institutes who want to apply the active learning forum in classroom.

  • This study developed and implemented a teaching · learning process plan for Home Economics in middle school by converging Habermas's three systems of action. It also examined the effect of the class through the evaluation of students and teachers who participated in the class. This study developed 10 sessions for a teaching and learning process plan by converging three systems of action and reconstructing learning elements related to 'balanced meal plan' and 'food choice' according to the practical action teaching model. After class, we surveyed the degree of help for students, analyzed the learning activity sheets, and analyzed the reflection journals of teachers to evaluate the effects of the class. This class was found to be the most helpful in practicing the healthy dietary life of students, expanding their thoughts, understanding learning contents, and helping them change their lives. As a result of analyzing the learning activity sheet, students gained enlightenment by reflecting and evaluating their action through the class; in addition, changes in interest, awareness, and action appeared. Through the convergence of three systems of action, teachers who practiced the class criticized and realized the act that students were unconsciously accepted. In addition, it confirmed the possibility that students could change their lives, family and society by promoting optimal nutrition and health for a good life that pursues the best good.

The Influences of the Tourists' Action Orientation on Satisfaction and Post Intention of Action of the Tourists who Attended a Food Festival: Focusing on 2011 Korea Food Festival (음식축제 관람객의 관광행위지향성과 만족도, 사후행위의도의 영향 관계: 2011년 대한민국 국제요리 경연대회를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influences of the tourists' action orientation on satisfaction with a festival and post intention of action of the tourists who attended a festival. The survey were conducted to analyze the tourists' action orientation, aiming at the tourists who attended 2011 Korea Food Festival, and 213 samples were collected The result of this empirical test indicated that the tourists' action orientation had influence on satisfaction with the festival and post intention of action. And among the tourists' action orientation factors, 'self-extension' had more influence on satisfaction with the festival and post intention of action. In addition, satisfaction with the festival and post intention of action were found to be positively correlated. Finally, theoretical and practical implications of this study were suggested in order to build a series of festival maketing strategies for tourist satisfaction.

Anxiolytic effect of Korean Red Ginseng through upregulation of serotonin and GABA transmission and BDNF expression in immobilized mice

  • Background: Anxiolytic properties of Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) have been previously reported. However, the exact mechanism(s) of action remains to be elucidated. The present study investigated the effect of KRG on immobilization-induced anxiety-like behaviors in mice and explored the involvement of the serotonin and GABA systems and BDNF in the anxiolytic action. Methods: Mice were orally administered with KRG (200 mg/kg/day) for 4 weeks and immobilized once daily for 2 h. p-Chlorophenylalanine (p-CPA) was intraperitoneally injected on day 22-28, and flumazenil or bicuculline was injected on day 25-28. After behavioral evaluations, brains were dissected for biochemical analyses. Results: KRG improved immobilization-induced anxiety-like behaviors in mice, as assessed by the elevated plus maze (EPM) and marble burying tests (MBT). The anxiolytic effect of KRG was comparable to that of fluoxetine, a reference drug clinically used for anxiety disorders. A serotonin synthesis inhibitor, p-CPA, blocked the effect of KRG in the EPM and MBT, indicating the requirement of serotonin synthesis for anxiolytic action. In addition, the anxiolytic effect of KRG was inhibited by bicuculline (a GABAA antagonist) in MBT, implying the involvement of GABA transmission. Western blotting analyses revealed that KRG upregulated the expression of tryptophan hydroxylase and GABAA receptor in the brain, which was blocked by p-CPA. Enhanced BDNF expression by KRG in the hippocampus was also indicated to mediate the anxiolytic action of KRG in immobilized mice. Conclusion: KRG exhibited the anxiolytic effect in immobilized mice by multiple mechanisms of action, involving enhanced serotonin and GABA transmissions and BDNF expression.

  • It is important to find the competitive priority, which makes a great contribution to the action plans. The reason is that this makes it possible to provide Korean manufacturers with effective behavioral model to break through the depression after 1997'financial crisis in Korea. Focused priority has become a focus of organizations faced with the need to survive in a highly uncertain business environment characterized by rapid technological change, global competition, and demanding customers. Many believe that better linkages of priority and action plans are fundamental to surviving in the world market. However, there was little previous research dealing with the relationship between the strategic priority and action plans in the view of competitive weapon. This study presents empirical findings on differences between U.S. and Korean manufacturing approach to relationship of priority and plans. Specially, Korean manufacturers are eager for good model to overcome depression of 1997' financial crisis in Korea. Data was collected as part of the Manufacturing Futures Project completed in 1996. The results indicate that U.S. manufacturers maintain focused linkages from priority to action plans than do Korean manufacturers.

Calcium Channel Blocking and $\alpha$-Adrenoceptor Blocking Action of Coptidis Rhizoma Extracts and their Alkaloid Components in Rat Aorta

  • Vascular relaxation action of crude extracts of two kinds of Coptidis rhizoma (Coptis chinensis and Coptis japonica, Ranunculaceae) was investigated and compared with that of berberine and palmatine, active alkaloid components of these plants. The results show that total extracts, berberine, and palmatine induced a concentration-dependent vasodilatation of rat thoracic aorta contracted with phenylephrine (PE). Palmatine, unlike to berberine, did not inhibit contraction induced by KCI. In calcium-free media, not only berberine but also crude extracts inhibited calcium-induced contraction. Furthermore, pretreatment of crude extracts inhibited contraction induced by PE noncompetitively. In PE-induced contraction, berberine was 2.5 times more potent than Coptis chinensis in the relaxation of rat aorta in terms of $IC_{50}$ values. Analysis of the effects of crude extracts on the Emax and $IC_{50}(PE)IC_{50}(KCI)$ ratios provides information on selectivity and indicates that extracts exhibit greater inhibition of the contrac tile response induced by PE than by KCI. We concluded that crude extracts have .alpha.-adrenoceptor blocking action and possesses inhibitory effect on calcium influx, which may be at least in part responsible for the antihypertensive action.

  • Video action recognition is widely used in video surveillance, behavior detection, human-computer interaction, medically assisted diagnosis and motion analysis. However, video action recognition can be disturbed by many factors, such as background, illumination and so on. Two-stream convolutional neural network uses the video spatial and temporal models to train separately, and performs fusion at the output end. The multi segment Two-Stream convolutional neural network model trains temporal and spatial information from the video to extract their feature and fuse them, then determine the category of video action. Google Xception model and the transfer learning is adopted in this paper, and the Xception model which trained on ImageNet is used as the initial weight. It greatly overcomes the problem of model underfitting caused by insufficient video behavior dataset, and it can effectively reduce the influence of various factors in the video. This way also greatly improves the accuracy and reduces the training time. What's more, to make up for the shortage of dataset, the kinetics400 dataset was used for pre-training, which greatly improved the accuracy of the model. In this applied research, through continuous efforts, the expected goal is basically achieved, and according to the study and research, the design of the original dual-flow model is improved.

Prediction Models for the Prying Action Force and Contact Force of a T-stub Fastened by High-Strength Bolts (고력볼트로 체결된 T-stub의 지레작용력 및 부재 접촉력 예측모델)

  • A T-stub connection with high-strength bolts under tensile force is affected by prying action force and the contact force, among others, between members. If a design equation that does not consider such prying action force and contact force between members is not proposed, the T-stub under tensile force is liable to be fractured under the strength lower than the estimated design strength. To prevent it, many studies have proposed contact force estimation equations between members as well as the prying action force of the T-stub connection with high-strength bolts. However, no design equations based on such research have been proposed in South Korea. Therefore, this study aims to propose an estimation model for more accurate prying action force and contact force, and improve on previously proposed estimation models by implementing the three-dimensional, nonlinear finite element analysis. Throughout the results of three-dimensional, nonlinear finite element analysis, the prediction model proposed in this research for the prying action force and contact force of a T-stub provided much more accurate estimation than that of a existing prediction model previously suggested.

The effects of dart performance on target size perception: A test of action-specific perception (다트수행이 표적의 크기지각에 미치는 영향: 행동-특정 지각의 검증)

  • Human perception is an outcome of the influence of various factors rather than objective reflection of external environment. Among the factors, action-specific perception is a phenomenon where perception changes in terms of one's ability to act on the environment. Previous research reported contradictory results regarding whether action-specific perception occurs during performance or after performance due to memory distortion or knowledge about performance results. In this research, we conducted three experiments to determine when action-specific perception occurs. Participants threw darts at different distances and reported perceived size of targets in each trial. The results showed that, in Experiments 1 and 2, participants perceived targets larger when they hit than missed the targets, and the effect was greater when the targets were not visible after each throw. However, because participants had knowledge about the results of their throws, there could have been bias in participants' responses. In Experiment 3, where this possibility was excluded, we also obtained action-specific perception, and therefore concluded that action-specific perception occurs during but not after task performance.

  • Recently, with the development of computer vision and deep learning technology, research on human action recognition has been actively conducted for video analysis, video surveillance, interactive multimedia, and human machine interaction applications. Diverse techniques have been introduced for human action understanding and classification by many researchers using RGB image, depth image, skeleton and inertial data. However, skeleton-based action discrimination is still a challenging research topic for human machine-interaction. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end skeleton joints mapping of action for generating spatio-temporal image so-called dynamic image. Then, an efficient deep convolution neural network is devised to perform the classification among the action classes. We use publicly accessible UTD-MHAD skeleton dataset for evaluating the performance of the proposed method. As a result of the experiment, the proposed system shows better performance than the existing methods with high accuracy of 97.45%.
