The purpose of this study is to develop and applicate textbook relevant to school indoor air quality. To achieve the purpose, concrete study process are as follows. First, the survey research to teachers, supervisors, and students is conducted to grasp cognition of subjects in elementary school and management situation about school indoor air quality. Second, contents relevant to indoor air quality on textbooks in the 7th elementary curriculum and subsidiary textbooks is analysed through reference study. Third, environmental textbook relevant to school indoor air quality for 5th and 6th grade in elementary school is developed, applicated, and inspected its effect on the basis of implications from results of survey and reference study. The results of this study are as follows. First, the result of survey concerning school indoor air quality showed that three groups had negative attitude for its management even though they thought that it affected human's health and study by and large. Student group thought that each of students itself was a little influence to school indoor air pollution though all of three groups answered that' activities of students' was its main source. Efforts of students to improve school indoor air quality was not much, and its main reason was that they didn't know about school indoor air pollution well. Second, result of analysis into textbooks on the 7th elementary curriculum and subsidiary textbooks, contents concerning indoor air on the 7th elementary curriculum textbooks was little or nothing. And it trended to be included to subsidiary textbooks. However, education textbooks about indoor air for elementary students was insufficient still. Third, environmental textbook relevant to school indoor air quality for 5th and 6th grade in elementary school was developed. It was constructed for themes - importance, sources, effects, and management of school indoor air quality. After its application to the 6th grade students in elementary school, it was meaningful in the level of p<.05 that the result of knowledge and awareness in the pre-post test within experiment group. However, all of the results in comparison group didn't represent statistically meaningful difference. In conclusion, environmental textbook developed by necessity of education about school indoor air quality will play a role as useful tool for the 5th, 6th grade students in elementary school to understand relation of quality of health and life and school indoor air quality, to have attitude to make an effort to manage it by develop right awareness about it.

This study is to investigate the type, process and context of inquiry activities in life science textbooks based on the seventh curriculum. Six kinds of science textbooks were analysed. Three units of life science were analysed; 'the structure of living things', 'digestion and circulation' and 'respiration and excretion', As result of analysis, types, processes and skills, and context of inquiry were not balanced, it is suggested that learners be educated with complementary of this aspects. To develope the science textbook on the basis of aims and objectives of curriculum, it is proposed that the inquiry activities presented in science textbooks be examined, and the framework to evaluate inquiry activities be reflected on the standard of science textbook authorization

This study is to investigate the 7th curriculum of computer education and its implementation by analyzing 1. computer H/W distribution status, 2. number of schools to select computer subject, 3. professional competency of computer teachers, 4. job loads for computer teachers, 5. instructional materials used for computer subjects, 5. problems of curriculum implementation, 7. confronting instructional problems. Data was collected from the survey to 191 teachers who are from teacher in-service programs in July, 2005, in-depth interview and national educational statistics. Suggestions for the curriculum revision were made.

The aims of this research are to analyze the representations and conceptual sequence of eye vision in Korean science textbooks and to suggest a contents construct about eye vision where the conceptual sequence is considered. Research method was literature review, and the literatures that were used for analysis were the 7th Korean science curriculum which was revised in 1997, and the science and physics textbooks developed based on the 7th Korean science curriculum. The research results are as follows: 1) Although the science curriculum seems to have no problem on sequence in the eye vision concepts, the science and physics textbooks based on the curriculum reveal problems on the sequence in the eye vision concepts; 2) Some Korean science textbooks explain retinal image formation according to the Alhazen's idea, except in inverse image; 3) Some Korean science textbooks explain about the reasons of near- and far-sightedness without consistency between the textbooks for 7th and 8th grade students; 4) A few Korean science textbooks give an inappropriate explanation about the principle of eye sight correction by eye glasses; 5) According to the analysis result, the concepts related to eye vision should be presented in the order of explanation about light refraction phenomena, image formation process by convex lens, structure of human eye and retinal image formation process, correction of eye sight using lens.

In this study, searched how science museum reflects personality of course of study and target comparing display contents of science museum with high school earth science Ⅰand Ⅱ of the 7th curriculum. Result of this study is as following. First, area that earth science contents of course of study are exhibited has been less than 50%, and is preponderated by unit. Second, earth science course of study reflection degree of science museum is middle.(2.8 points of perfect score 5 points) Third, number of average mark of contents that is exhibited by science museum in significance level 0.05 lows is difference, and it is no difference by unit.

Science museum are the typical channels for students to experience science as outside school science lessons. Hereupon, in this study, middle school earth science contents system and achievement standards by the 7th Curriculum analyzed exhibit of science museum for basis. As a result, relevance between accomplishment level and Exhibition was insufficient in curriculum, and the area of geology in the exhibition overemphasized. Therefore, exhibit that consider curriculum is required. hereafter, Result of this study presents display of science museum and direction of education.

In this study, the readability of the texts in the third and the sixth grade science textbooks developed under the 2007 revised science curriculum were analyzed in terms of word and sentence units. In the word unit analyses, the levels of the words in the texts were classified into four categories, 1st to 4th levels. In the sentence unit analyses, the sentences in the texts were classified either a simple sentence or compound/complex sentences, and the average length of the sentences was also calculated. The results indicated that more than 90 percents of the words in the 2007 revised science textbooks were classified as the 1st to the 3rd levels. However, both the kinds and the frequencies of the words in the 2007 revised science textbooks were increased in comparison of those in the 7th science textbooks. In particular, it was found that the increasement in the 3rd grade science textbook was noticeable. The ratio of the compound/complex sentences in the 2007 revised science textbooks were increased in comparison of those in the 7th science textbooks. The average length of the sentences in the 2007 revised science textbooks was also increased.

In this study, we analyzed the proportions of STS content, components, topics, and types of the activities of STS content in the elementary science textbooks developed under the 2007 Revised National Curriculum. The analyses of the results revealed that the percentage of STS content included was 15.9% by the number of pages, and 13.5% by the lesson hour. By the components of the STS content, the proportion of 'application of science', 'science-technology and our life' and 'social problems and issues' were large. Most STS topics were related to the 'effects of technological developments' and 'environmental issue', and the topics of 'family and population' and 'human engineering' were few. By the types of the activities, reading was the most, and investigation and writing were also found. Compared with those of the science textbooks developed under the 7th National Curriculum, the variety of components of the STS content increased, but the proportion of STS content and the variety of activities of STS content decreased in the science textbooks developed under the 2007 Revised National Curriculum.

The purpose of this study was to provide a primary data for the revision of Home Economics Curriculum from the quantitative content analysis of illustrations in current Home Economics textbooks from the gender equity perspective. This study analyzed 342 illustrations and 1.368 individuals in 15 volumes of Home Economics textbooks of the 7th curriculum by units. The major findings of this study show that current Home Economics textbooks improved compared to the textbooks of previous the 4th, 5th. and 6th curriculum periods in terms of sex proportion and sex compositions of individuals appeared in illustrations. However, sex roles. color of clothing and dressing styles. and background and description of individuals appeared in illustrations tends to not described as gender equitable. This study recommends that there is a need for Department of Education to provide a specific manual and authorization standards for writing textbooks and constructing illustrations.
