  • Start-up accelerators are a new type of investor that provide mentoring, education and seed capital to start-ups for a fixed duration and receive a certain stake in them in return. They help start-ups achieve successful commercialization. With increase in performance visibility, the number of private and public sector accelerators rose across domestic and international markets. Private sector accelerators are established and operated by private entities while public sector accelerators are established and operated by the government. Both play complementary roles that are becoming increasingly important to start-ups. Therefore, this study aims to examine the differences in major operational goals and investment determinants between private and public sectors and to understand their implications. The results show that the private sector prioritizes profit generation through the investment, while the public sector aims to contribute to the development of high-growth start-ups, and create region-specific and technology-specific start-up ecosystems. Additionally, both groups consider customer needs the most important determinant. Public groups are more conservative in investments and tend to place importance on objective indicators such as patents, partners, mentors, and co-founders. Conversely, private groups value the capabilities of founders and their ease of collaboration with accelerators. These findings can help start-ups get support from public or private accelerators more easily. It will also help public and private accelerators refine the criteria for selecting start-ups.

  • Informal engineering education program for high school students was developed to cultivate engineering literacy using the human resources and facilities of university. Plant factory, a smart farming technology, was selected as a main theme, and the novel engineering camp program involving engineering design activities and intra-linter-team works was planned. The camp program was applied to 38 high school students in an active learning classroom. Five teams were constructed according to elemental technologies such as biotechnology, information-communication technology, energy engineering, mechanical engineering and architectural engineering, and the students were participated in intra- and inter-team activities to achieve the final goal of 'the construction of a plant factory in school'. The team works were conducted according to the eight steps of engineering design process (identifying the problem and need, identifying criteria and constraints, brainstorming possible solutions, selecting the best possible solution, constructing a prototype, testing and evaluating the solution, communicating the solution, and refining design). Participants' satisfaction survey showed that the satisfaction on the contents of engineering design was 4.48 on 5-point Likert scale. The participants' satisfaction on creative activity and systematic methodology was 4.43 on 5-point Likert scale. 97% of participants responded positively to team works, and 92% of participants were satisfied with career mentoring activity supplied by undergraduate/graduate students. These results indicates that the engineering camp program involving engineering design activity and intra-/inter-team works can contribute to cultivate engineering literacy such as creativity, problem solving ability, collaboration, communication skills for high school students, and to increase their interests in engineering fields.

  • In a world of uncertainty and complexity, leadership is essential to lead collaborative and positive interactions among employees. In other words, if members share opinions and work through voluntary leadership, they will respond more effectively to uncertain challenges and get closer to the targeted management performance. Therefore, in this study, we would like to elucidate the importance of shared leadership, which has recently become an issue. We will examine the impact of shared leadership on team efficacy, team organizational citizenship behavior, and turnover intention. A survey was conducted among members working in a team organization in Busan, and the results were as follows. First, the effects of shared leadership on team efficacy were found to have significant positive(+) effects, such as the hypotheses set at planning and organizing 0.202(C.R.=2.853), problem solving 0.463(C.R.=5.620), support and caring 0.237(C.R.=3.326), and development and mentoring 0.366(C.R.=5.132), respectively. Second, the effects of team efficacy on team organizational citizenship behavior and turnover intention were 0.545(C.R.=5.895) and -0.143(C.R.=-0.817), respectively, and team efficacy was found to have a positive(+)positive(+) effect on team organizational citizenship behavior, but team efficacy did not have a significant effect on turnover intention.

The researchers selected 11 students from the 7th and 8th graders in Seoul and developed and applied the 'Become a Science Teacher' mentor program in 2014 and 2015. Data collection was conducted through class recordings, mentor teachers' and assistant teacher's journal, artifacts, student journals, student portfolios, class listeners' essays for science class and analyzed qualitative data collected through constant comparison method. According to the result, we extracted 11 character elements and reorganized them into 16 specific character elements revealed in various learning situations based on the relationship between each character elements. • This study confirms the relative influence of satisfaction with the government's start-up support project at each growth stage of start-up companies and entrepreneurs' commercialization capabilities on start-up commitment. The start-up growth stage was divided into start-up stage, initial growth stage, stagnation stage, and high growth stage, and the government's start-up support project was divided into eight types(entrepreneurship education, mentoring/consulting, facility space, commercialization support, policy funds, sales channels/marketing/overseas expansion, R&D support, and start-up events/network) and satisfaction was evaluated. The data used was the results of the Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center's survey on entrepreneurship conditions. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the entrepreneur's commercialization capabilities are more effective in increasing the entrepreneur's commitment to starting a business than the satisfaction with the government's start-up support project. Additionally, it was confirmed that relatively important factors in entrepreneurship immersion differ depending on the start-up stage. During the start-up period, the government's start-up support project was found to be an important factor in increasing entrepreneurs' commitment to starting a business, but it was confirmed that the government's start-up support project had no effect on the start-up commitment after the start-up growth stage. In addition, this study confirmed the relatively important government start-up support projects by start-up growth stage and found that satisfaction with start-up facilities can increase start-up commitment during the start-up stage, and that start-up facilities and commercialization support are important during the early growth stage. And in the Death Valley stage, startup facilities, commercialization support, and policy funds were confirmed to be relatively important factors, and in the high growth stage, mentoring was confirmed to be an important factor in increasing entrepreneurship immersion. The results of this study not only contribute theoretically to building entrepreneurship theory, but also determine the size and effective support plan for the government's entrepreneurship support project for each growth stage of startup companies, and help organizations that operate entrepreneurship policy and institutional support and startup support programs. It will have a significant contribution to management measures.

School wide enrichment programs, which served all students with gifted programs, using RTI model in the pursuit of equity and excellence, turned out to be effective as early interventions and identification implemented for economically disadvantaged or minority students with potentials. Gifted programs for low Social Economic Status (SES) or minority students played a role as a bridge for disadvantaged students to get into a regular gifted program or even higher gifted schools and to have a competency to compete with affluent gifted students. The principles of the programs were acceleration and differentiation. Most programs also ran a parents' education and a mentor program to motivate and support disadvantaged students socially and emotionally. Collaboration among governmental offices and usage of external resources were more effective to support these students and the programs.
