The purpose of this study is to investigate teachers' perception of core competencies and affective aspects in mathematics. For this purpose, a nationwide survey was conducted. The survey questionnaire consists of three core competencies including problem solving, reasoning and communication, and two affective aspects including good human nature and attitudes. The survey results were further analyzed based on school level, teaching experience, location of schools, and types of high schools. As a result, four findings were identified. First, elementary school teachers tend to put more emphasis on core competencies and affective aspects than secondary school teachers do. Second, in elementary school level, longer teaching experience is correlated with more positive perception of core competencies and affective aspects. However, there was an opposite tendency in secondary school level. Third, teachers working at schools in metropolitan cities tend to emphasize core competencies and affective aspects more than those at schools located in mid-sized cities and rural areas. Fourth, the school types in high school didn't seem to affect the teachers' perception on core competencies and affective aspects.

This research can be another guideline when someone would like to use competency-based earth science gifted education program in gifted education. Also, the purpose of this research is to help suggesting a right direction for competency-based earth science gifted education program. The conclusion based on research problem is as follow; Firstly, in competency-based earth science gifted education program, influence rates of scientific communication ability and scientific thinking ability are highest, where influence rates of scientific investigation ability, scientific problem solving ability and scientific participation and lifelong learning ability are relatively low. Secondly, in competency-based earth science gifted education program, single activity may includes several core-abilities. Following research is quite meaningful in aspect of giving out the information to choose topic in core-ability when using competency-based earth science gifted education program in gifted education. Also by supplementing lowly-influenced ability in competency-based earth science gifted education program, it is expected for gifted students to build scientific core-ability.
For effective clinical practice education, this study was conducted to find out the effects of learning practical subjects on the core competency and satisfaction level of clinical practice on nursing students. The research subjects were divided into groups that conducted four core nursing education classes eight hours a day for two weeks, and groups that received traditional lecture-oriented education, and a questionnaire was prepared and reported by themselves after 15 weeks of clinical practice. The collected data was analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, chi-square test, and t-test using the SPSS 21.0 program. The findings supported the hypotheses in critical thinking propensity and clinical practice satisfaction, and the hypotheses in leadership, problem-solving and communication skills were rejected. The results of this study confirmed that practical training for strengthening core practical skills has a positive effect on the critical thinking tendency and clinical practice satisfaction of nursing students. Therefore, it can be used as an effective practical training arbitration in nursing education.

With the global rise in interest in competency-based education, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea outlined six core competencies in the 2015 revised curriculum, essential for future society's 'creative and convergent talent'. This study introduces an HTE-STEAM constellation education program designed to develop the core competencies outlined in the 2015 revised curriculum and address the limitations of hands-on astronomy education. The program's effectiveness was assessed through a pilot test. The program was implemented at G Library, an out-of-school education site in Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, targeting students from 3rd to 6th grade. The study's results include: First, the HTE-STEAM program significantly impacted all aspects of the STEAM attitude test except for 'self-concept', particularly influencing 'science and engineering career choice', 'consideration', and 'communication'. Thus, it has led to positive outcomes in the cultivation of future society's core competencies, including 'creative thinking skills', 'communication skills', and 'community skills'. Secondly, the HTE-STEAM constellation education program, despite covering the challenging concept of spacetime, was deemed easy by many students. Observations of students applying the spatial concepts they learned by using teaching aids suggest that the program was effective in enhancing students' understanding of the spatial structure of the sky and the universe. Additionally, this program aligns with the 2022 curriculum's updated standards for understanding the sky's spatial structure. Consequently, the HTE-STEAM constellation education program positively cultivates future society's core competencies and serves as a valuable complement to night observation practices in schools.

In connection with the OECD's core competency proposal, we would like to consider an attempt to realize this in liberal arts education at Korean universities and examine what kind of education plan it is desirable to present to learners. Universities are expanding competency-based education into human and social fields by reconsidering new talent awards and the direction of education. In this way, each university selects and organizes core competencies and incorporates the core competencies that the university pursues into educational goals. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, education centered on core competencies is exploring its potential in liberal arts courses at universities above all else. We want to explore a methodology that can achieve learner-centered teaching and learning effects in the process of incorporating and accepting this. Language acquisition along with cross-cultural understanding is above all else a part that can promote learners' competencies in terms of diversity and mutual understanding. Therefore, we reflect this in French liberal arts education and explore teaching and learning processes by incorporating respect for diversity and mutual cultural understanding competency education related to learners' motivation into lectures. We aim to supplement this through collaboration and mutual cultural understanding processes as presentation tasks in order to overcome the existing competency-based evaluation while deriving acceptance results from learners. Therefore, they recognize that the direction of core competency education naturally shifts to value-centered education.
The purpose of this study was to find out the difference between importance and performance regarding perception of core competence of gifted education teachers through importance-performance analysis (IPA). One hundred fourteen elementary gifted education teachers including math and science participated in the study. The collected survey data was analyzed with IPA matrix. As the result, firstly, there was significant difference between importance and performance regarding perception of core competence of gifted education teachers. Secondly, core competencies of 'understanding knowledge', 'research and instruction', 'passion and motivation', and 'ethics' are high in both perceptions of importance and performance. However, both 'communication and practices' and 'professional curriculum development' are low. Thirdly, there was a difference in core competence of gifted education teachers between math and science at the competence of 'passion and motivation'. Math gifted education teachers perceived 'passion and motivation' high in both importance and performance while science gifted education teachers perceived its importance low and performance high. In addition, math gifted education teachers showed lower performance compared to its importance in the sub-categories; 'knowledge of gifted development', 'gifted child assessment', 'information gathering and its literacy', and 'creative answers to various questions'. However, science gifted education teachers showed lower performance compared to its importance in sub-categories; 'higher-order thinking skills in its subject', 'teaching methodology for self-directed learning', 'problem behavior of the gifted', and 'counseling the gifted'.
This study examined how 132 teachers of different grade levels incorporate the key competencies identified by Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation into their mathematics teaching and how they perceive of its full potential of the competency-based learning and teaching in mathematics classroom. Survey and semi-structured interview methods were used to collect data for the study. It was found that in their instruction teachers emphasized competencies such as problem-solving, literacy, creativity, communication and information-processing skills in order. Inter-personal skills, self-management, citizenship, global understanding and career-development appeared to be challenging competencies for teachers to reflect in their instruction with the reasons such as no direct connections to mathematics and insufficient instruction. Findings of the study suggest that various instructional methods, development and dissemination of related curricula materials, change of evaluation method, and change teachers' perceptions may be needed for incorporating KICE's key competencies in K-12 mathematics education.
