A Study for Unsaturated-Character of Weathered Granite Soil in Korea (국내 화강풍화토의 불포화 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Generally, soil is regarded as fully saturated in Geotechnical Engineering and under ground structure design. Because it is in convenience and safety. But soils treated in field are almost in unsaturated state. Design in unsaturated state is difficult comparing with saturated soil. In unsaturated soil mechanics, parameters are usually not constant unlike saturated soil mechanics. Additionally lab or field tests in unsaturated soil mechanics are required more cost, time and theoretical difficulty. One of essential requisites for examination about unsaturated soil is Soil-Water Characteristic Curve (SWCC). It show the relation between soil suction and soil water content. Through many studies in and out of country, computation and testing methods for SWCC were introduced. But in this the country, most soil is granite soil that is widely spread in Korea. And the studies for granite soil's SWCC are not enough yet. In this paper, through studying for existing proposal methods about computation SWCC and collection data for domestic granite soils, It was determined the suitable method for domestic granite soils, and computed each granite soil's SWCC. The purpose of this paper is establishing database for domestic granite soil's SWCC as each region to convenience for applying to actual affairs. For this, studying about existing proposal methods for SWCC was performed and a computer program Soil-Vision is used. Furthermore for verification theoretical and testing methods were also performed.

A Case Study on Application of Linear Function using Excel (엑셀을 통한 일차함수의 활용에 대한 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to search the effective teaching-learning program by considering how affect on formation of linear function using Excel. This study was based on qualitative case study. The teaching experiment using Excel executed with five 8th graders' students for second research content. Teaching experiment was performed for two classes. Collecting the data was conducted via observations and interviews with students. The data include audio and video recording of the students' work, students' worksheets and detailed field notes. The conclusions drawn from teaching experiment are as follows: First, when students explored relevancy content of function in Excel environment, formation of concept of function was facilitated by experiencing operation of algebraic formulas, tables and graphs. We could infer that formation of concept was effected by conjecture activity and iterative process of feedback through Excel environment. Second, the students explored the changes very interestingly making algebraic formulas and presenting tables and graphs. The students were familiarized with observation on algebraic formulas, graphs and tables concurrently. Also, they tried to look for general rules through inductive observation. According to this study, we noticed that exploration teaming environment using Excel could supplement paper-and-pencil environment.

Yang Hui's NaYinFa (양휘(楊輝)의 납음법(納音法))

  • It is well known that the sexagesimal cycle(干支) has been playing very important role in ordinary human affairs including astrology and almanacs and the arts of divination(術數). Yin-Yang school related the cycle with the sixty four hexagrams and the system of five notes(五音) and twelve pitch-pipes(十二律), and the processes to relate them are called respectively NaJia(納甲) and NaYin(納音) and quoted in Shen Kuo's Meng qi bi tan(夢溪筆談, 1095). Yang Hui obtained the process NaYin in the context of mathematics. In this paper we show that Yang Hui introduced the concept and notion of functions and then using congruences and the composite of functions, he could succeed to describe perfectly the process in his Xu gu zhai qi suan fa(續古摘奇算法, 1275). We also note that his concept and notion of functions are the earliest ones in the history of mathematics.

Reliability Analysis for Fracture of Concrete Armour Units (콘크리트 피복재의 단면파괴에 대한 신뢰성 해석)

  • A fracture or breakage of the concrete armor units in the primary cover layer of breakwaters is studied by using the reliability analysis which may be defined as the structural stability. The reliability function can be derived as a function of the angle of rotation that represents the rocking of armor units quantitatively. The relative influences of all of random variables related to the material and geometric properties on the fracture of armor units is analyzed in detail. In addition, the probability of failure for the fracture of individual armor unit can be evaluated as a function of the incident wave height. Finally, Bernoulli random process and the allowable fracture ratio may be introduced together in this paper, by which the probability of failure of a breakwater due to the fracture of armer units can be obtained straightforwardly. It is found that the probability of failure of a breakwater due to the fracture of armor units may be varied with the several allowable fracture ratios. Therefore, it should be necessary to consider the structural stability as well as the hydraulic stability for the design of breakwaters with multi-leg slender concrete armor units of large size under wave action in deep water.

  • 시뮬레이션(simulation)은 실 시스템(real system)의 효과적이고 효율적인 운영을 도모하기 위하여 실 시스템의 동작을 이해하고 분석, 예측, 평가하는 과학적인 문제해결 접근방법이다. 시뮬레이션 수행단계는 실 시스템의 행위를 정확히 반영하도록 타당한 모델을 구축하는 모델링 단계와 모델에 의도하는 명령어들을 컴퓨터 프로그램으로 작성하는 구현단계로 나누어진다. 시뮬레이션 모델은 시간, 상태, 확률변수, 상호규칙 등의 여러 관점에 따라 다양하게 존재하는데, DEVS(Descrete EVent system Specification) 모델은 연속적인 시간상에서 이산적으로 발생하는 사건에 따라 시스템의 상태를 분석할 수 있고 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 방법론의 형식화를 위한 견고한 이론적 기반을 제공하고 있다. 또한, DEVS 모델은 모듈적, 계층적 특성을 제공하고 집합론에 근거한 수학적 형식구조를 제공하여 실 시스템에 대한 체계적인 분석과정을 수행하게 되어 보다 현실적인 모델링을 가능하게 한다. 그러나 타당하지 못한 DEVS 모델이 구축되면 시뮬레이션을 통한 분석결과의 신뢰성이 떨어져 아무런 효과가 없고 경제적인 손실만이 따른다. DEVS 모델에 대한 기존의 타당성 검사가 많은 시간과 노력이 요구되고, 반복적인 DEVS 모델링 과정으로 인한 전문적이고 경험적인 지식을 요구한다. 또한, 모델설계자에 의해 설정된 실험 프레임하에서 DEVS 모델의 구성요소에 속하는 상태전이함수, 시간진행함수 및 출력함수에 대하여 commutative 성질의 보전성 검사가 어렵다는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여, DEVS 모델에 대한 타당성 검사를 SPN(Stochastic Petri Net) 모델로 변환하여 SPN 모델을 이용하는 간단하고 효과적인 타당성 검사 방법을 제안한다. 먼저, DEVs 모델에 대한 개념과 기존의 DEVS 모델에 대한 타당성 검사 방법을 고찰하고 그 문제점에 대하여 자세히 설명한다. DEVS 모델의 타당성 검사에 이용하는 SPN 모델에 대한 개념과 DEVS 모델과 행위적으로 동등한 SNP 모델로 변환을 위한 관점을 제조명하다. 동일한 관점에서 두 모델의 상태표현이 같도록 DEVS 모델이 SPN 모델로 표현됨을 보이는 변환이론을 제시하고 변환이론을 바탕으로 모델 변환과정을 제시한다. 모델 변환이론과 변환고정을 기본으로 타당성 검사를 위한 새로운 동질함수(homogeneous function)를 정의하고 이와 함께 SPN 모델의 특성을 이용하여 DEVS 모델에 대한 타당성 검사 방법을 새롭게 제안한다.

  • 본 연구에서는 도시배수관망의 간략화 모의 시 지선을 단순 생략하는 것이 아니라 2차원 관망을 1차원으로 전환시키는 방법인 등가하천 개념을 도입하여 도시유역의 유출량 산정에 있어서 여러 지선들을 개별적으로 모의하지 않으면서도 실제 존재하는 지선들의 효과를 고려할 수 있는 방법을 개발하고자 하였다. 자연하천에 대해 개발된 등가하천 개념은 최근의 수문모형의 경향인 물리적 분포형 모형의 복잡성을 피하면서 전통적인 개념적 집중형 모형이 가지는 간편성을 살리고 그 것이 가지고 있는 선형가정의 한계를 극복하기 위한 방안으로서 제안된 방법이다. 등가하천 개념을 도입하여 개발된 모형은 종국적으로 강우-유출관계에 있어서 강우의 크기, 선형 및 비선형성, 유역면적 등이 미치는 영향을 분석하기위한 도구로 개발되었으며, 본 연구에서는 출구로부터 동일 거리 s에 위치한 지점에서의 배수관망의 공간적인 분포 및 집중패턴을 파악하는 폭함수(width function, n(s))와 면적함수(area function, M(s))를 이용하여 관망을 간략화 하였다. 등가관의 수리기하조건 결정은 유역이 정상상태에 도달했을 경우에 대해서 이루어지게 되며 정상상태 모의를 통해 개별 관망단면들에 대해 얻어진 유량(Q), 면적(A), 수심(y) 자료간의 상관관계를 유추하여 Q(A), A(y) 함수를 유도하게 되면 종국적으로 관로홍수추적에 이용되는 지배방정식의 매개변수인 파속계수(c) 및 확산계수(D)를 계산할 수 있게 된다. 본 연구에서는 대상 유역으로 군자 배수구역을 선정하여 유역의 특성과 관망 자료를 수집하고 간략화 기법을 적용한 결과를 분석 하였다.다. 21세기 문화산업에서 우리가 판단하게 될 디자인의 가치는 계몽의 원리에 대한 '역사성'과 '현재성'의 변증법에 달려있는 것이며, 새로운 철학, 새로운 문명, 새로운 세계를 열어가는 것이다.r$ (地理志)에는 추현리와 이미 외리를 언급하면서 상주의 자기제작의 위상을 짐작하는 기록이 언급되면서 전국의 상품의 절반을 담당하고 있었음을 알 수 있었다. $\ulcorner$경상도지리지$\lrcorner$(慶尙道地理志)에는 상주가 8곳으로 1/3의 자기 생산을 담당하고 있었다. $\ulcorner$경상도지리지$\lrcorner$(慶尙道地理志)에는 $\ulcorner$세종실록$\lrcorner$(世宗實錄) $\ulcorner$지리지$\lrcorner$(地理志)와 동년대에 동일한 목적으로 찬술되었음을 알 수 있다. $\ulcorner$경상도실록지리지$\lrcorner$(慶尙道實錄地理志)에는 $\ulcorner$세종실록$\lrcorner$(世宗實錄) $\ulcorner$지리지$\lrcorner$(地理志)와의 비교를 해보면 상 중 하품의 통합 9개소가 삭제되어 있고, $\ulcorner$동국여지승람$\lrcorner$(東國與地勝覽) 에서는 자기소와 도기소의 위치가 완전히 삭제되어 있다. 이러한 현상은 첫째, 15세기

  • The purposes of this study are to analyze error that the students in science and engineering show in the process of thinking a extremum value. First, in view of examples of incorrect answers that appeared in a test by students in science and engineering, it has been found that the most frequent incorrect answers were due to a lack of understanding about necessary matters and concepts. In this regard, it is necessary to use various examples and pictures(graphs) to teach students in science and engineering. In addition, it has been found that it is more effective to use questions asking why it happens and why they think that way to help those having difficulties in understanding various concepts and principles.

A Case Study on Students' Mathematical Concepts of Algebra, Connections and Attitudes toward Mathematics in a CAS Environment (CAS 그래핑 계산기를 활용한 수학 수업에 관한 사례 연구)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate how the use of graphing calculators influence on forming students' mathematical concept of algebra, students' mathematical connection, and attitude toward mathematics. First, graphing calculators give instant feedback to students as they make students compare their written answers with the results, which helps students learn equations and linear inequalities for themselves. In respect of quadratic inequalities they help students to correct wrong concepts and understand fundamental concepts, and with regard to functions students can draw graphs more easily using graphing calculators, which means that the difficulty of drawing graphs can not be hindrance to student's learning functions. Moreover students could understand functions intuitively by using graphing calculators and explored math problems volunteerly. As a result, students were able to perceive faster the concepts of functions that they considered difficult and remain the concepts in their mind for a long time. Second, most of students could not think of connection among equations, equalities and functions. However, they could understand the connection among equations, equalities and functions more easily. Additionally students could focus on changing the real life into the algebraic expression by modeling without the fear of calculating, which made students relieve the burden of calculating and realize the usefulness of mathematics through the experience of solving the real-life problems. Third, we identified the change of six students' attitude through preliminary and an ex post facto attitude test. Five of six students came to have positive attitude toward mathematics, but only one student came to have negative attitude. However, all of the students showed positive attitude toward using graphing calculators in math class. That's because they could have more interest in mathematics by the strengthened and visualization of graphing calculators which helped them understand difficult algebraic concepts, which gave them a sense of achievement. Also, students could relieve the burden of calculating and have confidence. In a conclusion, using graphing calculators in algebra and function class has many advantages : formulating mathematics concepts, mathematical connection, and enhancing positive attitude toward mathematics. Therefore we need more research of the effect of using calculators, practical classroom materials, instruction models and assessment tools for graphing calculators. Lastly We need to make the classroom environment more adequate for using graphing calculators in math classes.

  • Abstraction is an important concept applied widely to variables, functions, complex data, abstract data types, classes and polymorphism in programming languages. However, the concept of abstraction has been considered as ambiguous and explained differently because it is not defined clearly and uniformly. In this paper, we analyse many aspects of abstraction in programming languages, and propose the taxonomy of abstraction. We classify abstraction according to the mechanism of formation into 4 categories such as napping abstraction, bundling abstraction. integrating abstraction and extending abstraction. We also consider many concepts related closely to abstraction such as functions, abstract data types, objects, encapsulation and classes in the view of abstraction. These analysis and consideration will make it possible to explain uniformly various aspects of abstraction which have been treated individually and differently, and to understand the meanings, necessity and importance of abstraction more intensively.

The Conjecture of Anti-Derivative Graph of Engineering Students (공대생의 역도함수 그래프 추측)

  • To engineering students, calculus is essential knowledges and skills as a mathematical model and give a perspective to observe phenomenon in the future industrial field. However, engineering students' calculus study tends to solve problems by only applying the mechanical calculation and mathematical results. This study aimed to make engineering students realize the importance of calculus and untypical problems, by suggesting problems that could apply the mathematical concepts and principles and even solve the actual conditions of the problems. Students conjectured the anti-derivative graphs by interpreting the given derivate problems. They showed errors in this process and the errors are contributed by their mathematics leaning styles. As a result, the task would be helpful to engineering students.
