Comparative Analysis of Generalization and Justification of the Mathematically Gifted 6th Graders by Learning Styles (초등학교 6학년 수학영재학생들의 학습유형에 따른 일반화 및 정당화 비교 분석)

  • This study aims to analyze mathematically gifted students' characteristics of generalization and justification for a given mathematical task and induce didactical implications for individual teaching methods by students' learning styles. To do this, we identified the learning styles of three mathematically gifted 6th graders and observed their processes in solving a given problem. Paper-pencil environment as well as dynamic geometrical environment using Geogebra were provided for three students respectively. We collected and analyzed qualitatively the research data such as the students' activity sheets, the students' records in Geogebra, our observation reports about the processes of generalization and justification, and the records of interview. The results of analysis show that the types of the students' generalization are various while the level of their justifications is identical. Futhermore, their preference of learning environment is also distinguished. Based on the results of analysis, we induced some implications for individual teaching for mathematically gifted students by learning styles.

Cognition of Elementary School Student to Teaching Method and Management of Physical Education (교사의 체육수업지도에 따른 초등학생의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to study the student cognition toward the subject of physical education and toward the method of teaching in the class. For the statistical measurement, the population has been chosen as the fifth and sixth grade 319 students(160 male; 159 female) from four different elementary schools in Seoul, Korea. In terms of the teaching method and management of students, the results show that they agree with controlled participation in class and appreciate teachers ability such as explanation, skill demonstration, knowledge, evaluation, maintaining order and participating class. However, there were no statistical difference male and female except for teacher's explanation. This study clearly indicates that the students want more affirmative and cooperative class environment and they expect to be evaluated not only by skill itself, but also by class participation and activity in their physical education class. The cognition and preference toward the class between male and female students did not show any difference in this study. After all, Teachers need to have more understanding, more compassion and more sensitivity towards their elementary students for interesting, effective and affirmative class.

A Study of Practical Training Anxiety, Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy, and Career Decision Level of Students Majoring in Language Rehabilitation in College (전문대학교 언어재활과 학생들의 실습 불안과 진로 결정 자기 효능감 및 진로결정 수준 인식에 대한 연구)

  • This study used three types of survey, an anxiety for practice, a career decision making self-efficacy, and a career decision level for students majoring in language rehabilitation in college in order to provide an effective guide for practice and career decision. By using 18.0 SPSS statistic package, the data has examined with Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal-Wallis test and Bonferroni test based on student's grade, academic record and practice duration. The result of study is as follows. First, based on grade, students showed significant differences on several subfactors of the anxiety for practice and the level of career decision-making. Second, based on an academic point and practice duration, there were significantly different in several subfactors of the anxiety for practice, the career decision-making self efficacy, the career decision level. Consequently grade, academic record and practice duration influenced student's conception for practice and career.

A Teaching Method of Basic Mathematics Subject for Students of Business Administration (경상계열 학생들을 위한 기초수학 교과목 지도방안)

  • In order to propose effective learning methods to teach basic mathematics course for students of business administration, we conducted the survey on recognition and attitude on mathematics subjects, and analyzed academic achievements of the business mathematics as a basic mathematics course in relation to the results of the survey. First, we investigated learning contents and problems difficult for students to understand in the course, and presented the instructional method and significance of them with examples. These learning contents and problems were collected from the students using the mathematics cafe. Furthermore, we analyzed types of the incorrect answers on the midterm and final examinations in the business mathematics. Although it is difficult to generalize the finding to all of the business administration students due to differences in academic level and educational environment, much work has been put in to present learning method of the business mathematics for students of business administration.

  • Mathematical misconception is one of the big obstacles of the underachieving students to learn mathematics correctly. This study aims to develop the instruction materials for secondary school students who are underachieving in mathematics to reduce the occurrence of the misconception and to help them to build the correct concept in the mathematical learning. Before developing the material, we tried to collect the misconception cases occurring in common mathematics lesson. This materials tries to provide key educational contents for mathematics teachers who is responsible for teaching underachieving student and help them to creative interesting ideas for lessons. The materials could be used not only as an teaching materials for underachieving students or students with the misconceptions, but also could be used as training materials for mathematics teachers.

지구과학 그래프에 대한 고등학생의 그래프 해석 능력과 인식 분석

  • 본 연구에서는 고등학교 지구과학 교과서 분석을 통해 지구과학 그래프의 주요 유형과 특징을 파악하고 지구과학 그래프 관련 검사지를 제작, 투입하여 고등학생들의 지구과학 그래프 해석 능력과 인식을 분석하였다. 지구과학 그래프는 타 과학 과목에 비해 그래프의 수가 많고 그 유형이 다양했다. 특히, 선 그래프와 등치선도가 많았으며, 선 그래프 중에는 다중 선 그래프와 YX 그래프 등의 비율이 높았다. 고등학교 2, 3학년생 111명을 대상으로 한 검사지 1단계에서는 '마그마의 생성 조건', '지구 자기장의 영년 변화', '과냉각 물방울과 빙정의 포화 수증기압', 'H-R도' 등에 관한 문항의 정답률이 특히 낮았다. 검사지 2단계에서는 약 $56\%$의 학생들이 지구과학 그래프의 유형이 타 과학 및 수학 과목의 그래프와 차이가 있다고 응답했다. 검사지 3단계에서는 동일한 내용이라 하더라도 그래프의 형식이나 구체적인 표현 방법에서 학생들의 이해를 높일 수 있는 방안에 대한 고민이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 학생들은 '그래프의 유형'에 대한 이해가 다소 부족하고 자신에게 익숙한 그래프를 쉽다고 생각하는 경향을 보였다. 따라서, 과학 교육자나 과학 교육과정 설계자들은 학생들에게 그래프 연습의 기회를 많이 부여하고, '그래프' 자체에 관한 교육은 물론 지구과학의 학문적 특성과 관련지어 '그래프의 유형'에 관해 체계적인 교육을 해야 할 필요가 있다.

The problem of mensuration of parallelogram raised by Wertheimer and alternative strategies (Wertheimer의 평행사변형 구적 문제와 대안적 지도 방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the alternative strategies for teaching mensuration of parallelogram raised by Max Wertheimer, a gestalt psychologist who was particularly concerned with mathematics learning and teaching. For this, 77 student teachers were paper and pencil tested and we could get the 7 interesting and useful ideas from their datas in spite of the fact that not many student teachers correctly responsed. Analysing the datas, it turned out all the 7 ideas are related to equivalent transformation and can make children more easily to see the structure of area of Wertheimer's parallelogram than traditional approach.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the academic and career counseling program for students of engineering college who don't have aptitude in engineering. Therefore we began with analyzing the outcome of Holland career aptitude test from enrolled students of engineering college. The method of this study is first, we classified between students who have aptitude on engineering and who don't. Next, we compared grades of between them. Lastly, we studied the needs of the students who don't have aptitude in engineering. The final result and analysis of study were used for suggestion of develop academic and career counseling program for students of engineering college who don't have aptitude on engineering.

  • 학교현장은 평균 43명의 과밀학급(인천광역시 연수고등학교 2학년)으로, 컴퓨터실에서 교사는 학생들을 관리하기 위해 학생 PC의 전원 끄는 경우가 있다. 교사는 학생의 컴퓨터를 감시하여 수업과 관련 없는 웹(web) 사이트를 방문하는 학생들의 수업 이외의 장난을 막으면서 학생들에게 수업해야 하기 때문이다. 그러나 학생은 이러한 방식에 반발심을 사거나 학생들의 학습 의욕을 떨어트리는 요인으로 작용한다고 본다. 또한 컴퓨터실 수업에서 일반적으로 교사는 "바쁜 교사"이다. 제한된 시간에 학습자 개인의 흥미나 욕구를 반영하여 개별 학습자의 능력 혹은 수준에 맞추어 수업의 내용의 내용과 속도를 다르게 가르치는 개별지도가 불가능하다. 현실이 이렇다 보니 컴퓨터라는 정보화 기기를 활용한 수업이 효율적으로 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하고자 학습 초기에 개별학습을 하면서 학습 진행에 어려움을 격을 시 학생과 학생사이에 다양한 상호작용을 촉진시키도록 협력학습 체제를 구축하고 학생들의 학습을 모니터링하면서 학생 또는 협력학습 모둠이 문제 해결에 어려움이 처한 경우나 실패한 경우 교사의 개별지도가 가능하게 할 수 있는 실시간 협력학습 체제를 설계하였다.

  • 우리 주변에는 수학영재 교육 대상자로 선발되어 영재교육을 받지 않는 학생 중에는 수학적으로 유망한 학생들이 많이 있으며, 이들에게 적절한 프로그램을 제공한다면 수학적 재능을 발휘할 수 있을 것이다. 본고에서는 수학적으로 유망성이 있는 학생들을 위한 프로그램 구성 및 운영 모델의 하나로 개방형 접근법(Open-approach heuristic)모델에 따른 구체적인 지도 방안과 프로그램에 대해서 살펴보고자 한다.
