In order to develope a mobile-based greenhouse energy calculation program, firstly, the overall thermal transmittance of 10 types of major covers and 16 types of insulation materials were measured. In addition, to estimate the overall thermal transmittance when the cover and insulation materials were installed in double or triple layers, 24 combinations of double installations and 59 combinations of triple installations were measured using the hotbox. Also, the overall thermal transmittance value for a single material and the thermal resistance value were used to calculate the overall thermal transmittance value at the time of multi-layer installation of covering and insulating materials, and the linear regression equation was derived to correct the error with the measured values. As a result of developing the model for estimating thermal transmittance when installing multiple layers of coverings and insulating materials based on the value of overall thermal transmittance of a single-material, the model evaluation index was 0.90 (good when it is 0.5 or more), indicating that the estimated value was very close to the actual value. In addition, as a result of the on-site test, it was evaluated that the estimated heat saving rate was smaller than the actual value with a relative error of 2%. Based on these results, a mobile-based greenhouse energy calculation program was developed that was implemented as an HTML5 standard web-based mobile web application and was designed to work with various mobile device and PC browsers with N-Screen support. It had functions to provides the overall thermal transmittance(heating load coefficient) for each combination of greenhouse coverings and thermal insulation materials and to evaluate the energy consumption during a specific period of the target greenhouse. It was estimated that an energy-saving greenhouse design would be possible with the optimal selection of coverings and insulation materials according to the region and shape of the greenhouse.

For a member subjected to direct shear forces, forces are transferred across interface concrete area and resisted by shear transfer capacity. Shear-friction equations in recent concrete structural design provisions are derived from experimental test results where shear-friction capacity is defined as a function of steel reinforcement area contained in the interface. This empirical equation gave too conservative values for concrete members with large amounts of reinforcement. This paper presents a method to evaluate shear transfer strengths and to define ultimate conditions which result in crushing of concrete struts after yielding of longitudinal reinforcement perpendicular to the interface concrete. This method is based on the bi-axial stress field theory where different constitutive laws are applied in various means to gain accurate shear strengths by considering softening effects of concrete struts based on the modified compression-field theory and the softened truss model. The validity of the proposed method is examined by applying to some selected test specimens in literatures and results are compared with recent design code provisions. A general agreement is observed between predicted and measured values at ultimate loading stages in initially uncracked normal-strength concrete test.
Recently, experimental and analytical researches have been performed in order to find interface failure between FRP plate and concrete in near surface-mounted (NSM) retrofit using FRP plate. As a result, it was found that the bond strength between concrete and NSM FRP plate had a close relationship with shape of FRP, concrete compressive strength and bond length. However, research need is increasing about another factors such as suitable space of FRP plate and group effect. In this study, therefore, a bond test was performed with aforementioned factors and compared with a previous equation to verify its suitability for predicting bond strength of NSM FRP plate. From the test, it was found that the bond strength increased according to the increase of space of NSM FRP plates even if its bond length was same. The splitting failure of concrete governed when space of FRPs was too narrow and it changed to FRP's tensile failure with increase of the space. From the evaluation of test specimens using previous equation, it was found that the bond strength could be predicted properly with consideration of group effect.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate hydrological applicability of spatially observed rainfall distribution data by the TRMM/PR (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission / Precipitation Radar). For this study, firstly, TRMM/PR data (Y) of the Yongdam-Dam Watershed (930.38$km^2$) was extracted and secondly, TRMM/PR data and the rainfall data (X) by AWS (Automatic Weather Station) were compared by executing a correlation analysis. As a result, the regression equations were deduced as two parts (under 60mm/day : Y = 18.55X-0.53, over 60mm/day : Y = 3.11X+51.16). SCS runoff analysis was conducted using 7 rainfall events in 1999 for Yongdam-Dam watershed and the Cheon-Cheon subwatershed for the revised TRMM/PR data. TRMM/PR data showed relative errors ranging from 19.6% ti 45.6%, and from 11.3% to 38.9% for Cheon-Cheon subwatershed and Yongdam-Dam watershed, respectively, AWS data showed relative errors ranging from 0.5% to 12.8%, and from -1.6% to -10.3%, for Cheon-Cheon subwatershed and Yongdam-Dam watershed, respectively. Futher researches are necessary to evaluate the relationship between TRMM/PR data and AWS data for practical hydrological applications.
The setting and hardening of concrete is accompanied with nonlinear temperature distribution caused by development of hydration heat of cement. Especially at early ages, this nonlinear distribution has a large influence on the crack evolution. As a result, in order to predict the exact temperature history in concrete structures it is required to examine thermal properties of concrete. In this study, the convection heat transfer coefficient which presents thermal transfer between surface of concrete and air, was experimentally investigated with variables such as velocity of wind, curing condition and ambient temperature. At initial stage, the convection heat transfer coefficient is overestimated by the evaporation quantity. So it is essential to modify the thermal equilibrium considered with the boiling effect. From experimental results, the convection heat transfer coefficient was calculated using equations of thermal equilibrium. Finally, the prediction model for equivalent convection heat transfer coefficient including effects of velocity of wind, curing condition, ambient temperature and boiling effects was theoretically proposed. The convection heat transfer coefficient in the proposed model increases with velocity of wind, and its dependance on wind velocity is varied with curing condition. This tendency is due to a combined heat transfer system of conduction through form and convection to air. From comparison with experimental results, the convection heat transfer coefficient by this model was well agreed with those by experimental results.

In coastal structure design incorporating revetments, the assessment of wave overtopping discharge relies on hydraulic model experiments. Numerous empirical formulas have been developed to predict overtopping discharge based on quantitative data from these experiments. Typically, for revetment structures aimed at mitigating wave overtopping, crest height is determined by considering the maximum amplitude of the design wave, resulting in a relatively high freeboard compared to wave heights. However, achieving complete prevention of all wave overtopping would require the crown wall to have substantial crest heights, rendering it economically impractical. Therefore, the concept of limiting discharge has been introduced in the design of revetment structures, aiming to restrict wave overtopping discharge to an acceptable level. Consequently, many coastal structures in real-world settings feature relatively lower freeboard heights than incident wave heights. This study investigated wave overtopping discharge on rubble-mound breakwaters with relatively low freeboard heights through hydraulic model experiments. Furthermore, it conducted a comparative analysis of the predictive capabilities of existing empirical formulas for estimating overtopping discharge using experimental data.

The evapotranspiration is estimated based on weather factors such as temperature, wind speed and humidity, and the Hargreaves equation is a simple equation for calculating evapotranspiration using temperature data. However, the Hargreaves equation tends to be underestimated in areas with wind speeds above 3 m s-1 and overestimated in areas with high relative humidity. The study was conducted to determine Hargreaves equation coefficient in 82 regions in Korea by comparing evapotranspiration determined by modified Hargreaves equation and the Penman-Monteith equation for the time period of 2008~2018. The modified Hargreaves coefficients for 50 inland areas were estimated to be 0.00173~0.00232(average 0.00196), which is similar to or lower than the default value 0.0023. On the other hand, there are 32 coastal areas, and the modified coefficients ranged from 0.00185 to 0.00303(average 0.00234). The east coastal area was estimated to be similar to or higher than the default value, while the west and south coastal areas showed large deviations by area. As results of estimating the evapotranspiration by the modified Hargreaves coefficient, root mean square error(RMSE) is reduced from 0.634~1.394(average 0.857) to 0.466~1.328(average 0.701), and Nash-Sutcliffe Coefficient(NSC) increased from -0.159~0.837(average 0.647) to -0.053~0.910(average 0.755) compared with original Hargreaves equation. Therefore, we confirmed that the Hargreaves equation can be overestimated or underestimated compared to the Penman-Monteith equation, and expected that it will be able to calculate the high accuracy evapotranspiration using the modified Hargreaves equation. This study will contribute to water resources planning, irrigation schedule, and environmental management.
This study examines the operational effectiveness of a Convection Current Aeration System (CCAS) in reservoir. CCAS was run from June, 2008 when the thermocline begun forming in the reservoir. This paper reviews the influence of stratification, dissolved oxygen dynamics and temperature in the lake's natural state from June to October 2008. The survey was done on a week basis. Upwelling flow effects a radius of $7{\sim}10m$ at a surface directly and was irrelevant to the strength of thermocline. On the other hand, it was affected the number of working days, and strength of thermocline at vertical profiles of the reservoir. Longer CCAS run, the deeper was the vertical direct flow area. However it didn't break the thermocline during summer season of 2008. The operating efficiency of the CCAS in the reservoir depends on hydraulics and meteological conditions. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a very useful tool for evaluating the operating efficiency of fluid dynamics. The geometry for CFD simulation consists of a cylindrical vessel 25 m radius and 40 m height. The CCAS is located in center of domain. The non-uniform tetrahedral meshes had a bulk of the geometry. The meshes ranged from the coarse to the very fine. This is attributed to the cold water flowing into the downcomer and rising, creating a horizontal flow to the top of the CCAS. The result of CFD demonstrate a closer agreement with surveyed data for temperature and flow velocity. Theoretical dispersion volume were calculated at 8m depth, 120 m diameter working for 30 days and 10 m depth, 130 m diameter working for 50 days.
No analytical solution exists for evaluating in-situ hydraulic conductivity of vertical cutoff walls by analyzing slug test results. Recently, an analytical solution to interpret slug tests has been proposed for a partially penetrated well in an aquifer. However, this analytical solution cannot be directly applied to the cutoff wall because the solution has been developed exclusively for an infinite aquifer instead of a narrow cutoff wall. To consider the cutoff wall boundary conditions, the analytical solution has been modified in this study to take into account the narrow boundaries by introducing the imaginary well theory. Two boundary conditions are considered according to the existence of filter cakes: constant head boundary and no flux boundary. Generalized steady-state shape factors are presented for each geometric condition, which can be used for evaluating the in-situ hydraulic conductivity of cutoff walls. The constant head boundary condition provides higher shape factors and no flux boundary condition provides lower shape factors than the infinite aquifer, which enables to adjust the in-situ hydraulic conductivity of the cutoff wall. The hydraulic conductivities calculated from the analytical solution in this paper give about 1.2~1.7 times higher than those from the Bouwer and Rice method, one of the semi-empirical formulas. Considering the compressibility of the backfill material, the analytical solution developed in this study was proved to correspond to the case of incompressible backfill materials.

The objective of this research is to assess the level of urban park service provision in comparison to demand population size by region (e.g., dong) in Busan metropolitan areas. To this end, a park service provision assessment index is utilized. The index is built upon the difference between planned and actual levels of park service provision. For each region, planned level is obtained by multiplying the per capita service amount by the number of residents in that region. Actual level is estimated based on Huff model, where distance between parks and residential locations are explicitly accounted for in model building. Empirical analysis was carried out for Busan Metropolitan Area. The result shows that Gumsung-dong, Chunga-dong and Dongdaesin3-dong are well supplied with park service, while Hadan1-dong, Goejung2-dong and Joorae3-dong are under-provided when per capita service provision amount and the extent of service area are set to $6m^2$ and 1km, respectively. It is argued that those regions that suffer from under-provision need to be highlighted such that a priority is given to those areas for establishing new urban parks when renewing urban management plan.
