  • Forests act as carbon sinks and also improve water resources and biodiversity to climate change. Secure funding, administrative support, and sustainable management systems are essential to conserve forests and to implement international forestry related projects to climate change. Public private partnership (PPP) could be an effective way for forestry sector in developing countries. Awareness analysis should be preceded in order to encourage participation of enterprises for the diversification of funding and the enhancing quality of projects. We conducted a survey targeting more than 129 private enterprises for awareness analysis. As a result, lack of information, complexity of processes and low profit resulted in low interest on forest projects from private enterprises. Improving awareness of recipient countries on forest resources, financial and institutional supports from the public sector, information sharing, performance management and equal partnership between sectors were suggested to encourage PPP in international forestry related projects to climate change.

  • POSCO has been chosen as the most competitive steelmaker in the world, for the 4th year in a row. It's potentials and key success points lay at technology innovation as well as effective partnerships with suppliers and customers. Partnership with suppliers is based upon the effective supply chain management. While ERP system supports the standard business work flows, the biggest impact on business performance is created by exceptions and variability. A SCM Advanced Planning System reduces the amount of exceptional situations, helping to keep business in a standard mode of operation. A case summary on SCM Advanced Planning System of POSCO as well as its impact on firm performances is presented. • In the era of knowledge-based society and glocalization the new role and mission of universities is of increasing concern to us. Studies of the successful universities suggest that there are many ways for the future development of universities, for example high qualification, specialization, and internationalization of universities etc. In this context we can also focus particularly on the regionalization of universities in terms of the university as a regional builder. This paper aims to identify the interactions between universities and regions and to explain their's contributions to the regional developments. The result of analysis shows that the university-region interaction is a win-win strategy both for university and for region in the rapid changing social-economic, administrative and educational environments, and more systematic and stepwise approaches are required to ensure a mutually beneficial collaboration.

  • This paper reviews the strategy of activating spatial data community and its impacts, focusing on the Cooperative Agreements Program(CAP) of National Spatial Data Infrastructure(NSDI), established by Federal Geographic Data Committee(FGDC) in U.S. to facilitate cooperative data sharing. After thoroughly reviewing the 20 research categories followed by 350 cases, supported by CAP for the last decade, it turned out that since NSDI issued "Future Directions Initiative" in 2004, the CAP adopted all components of NSDI as CAP categories in attempting to reinforce the partnership rather than mainly deploying standardized meta-data. Also, CAP has been utilized as a means to enforce the role of NSDI as spatial data user and provider as well, recognizing that the spatial data community is essence for expandable and sustainable NSDI. Implementing CAP resulted in the sound structure of spatial data marketplaces increasing spatial data demand and promoting the relevant business due to diverse users.
