A Study of Mode Choice Analysis of Blind Spot Areas for Public Transportation in Four Metropolitan Cities (대도시권 대중교통 사각지대 통행자들의 수단선택 모형 개발 - 급행버스 노선 도입에 따른 선호의식 조사를 중심으로 -)

  • This study selected blind spot areas for public transportation in four metropolitan cities including Busan, Daegue, Gwangju, and Daejeon. Then this study developed a nested logit model and analyzed the changes of mode choice behaviors after adopting rapid transit system using stated preference(SP) survey. As the study results, blind spot areas have more potential public transportation demand and tendency to shift to public transportation from autos than built-up areas. This study results can be utilized to evaluate demand changes for new rapid transit system in a circular expressway and an arterial highway connecting CBD and surrounding areas. The study results also can be utilized to analyze the potential public transportation demand in the surrounding areas.

  • Increasing the mode transfer volume between public transportation modes has known to be necessary for efficiency improvement of public transportation system operation and it is also found to be important to have relevant transfer point selection with reflection of current travel pattern. This study is in regards to providing a selection guideline for the location of transfer point between public transport modes. This case study has been carried out for Daegu Metropolitan City especially for public transportation users behaviour by analysis of daily usage of transportation card to identify the transfer travel pattern. A cluster analysis was applied to categorize the pattern of transfer stop which induces many users and a discriminant analysis also utilized for grouping the stops by number of transfer trip. This research produces the estimation result of transfer volume for urban railway system no.3 in Daegu City which is currently under construction. In addition, the locations of transfer center has also been proposed.

Exploring the influence of commuter's variable departure time in autonomous driving car operation (자율주행차 운영 환경하에서 통근자 출발시간 선택의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of commuter's departure time on transportation system in future traffic system operated autonomous vehicle using agent based model. Various scenarios have been set up, such as when all passenger choose a similar departure time, or if the passenger chooses a different departure time. Also, this study tried to analyze the effect of road capacity. It was found that although many of the scenarios had been completed in a stable manner, many commuters were significantly coordinated at the desired departure time. In particular, in the case of a reduction in road capacity or in certain scenarios, it has been shown that, despite excessive schedule adjustments, many passengers are unable to commute before 9 o'clock. As a result, it is suggested that traffic management and pricing policies are different from current ones in the era of autonomous car operation.

A Study on the Identification of Center of Seoul Metropolitan Area and Methodology Based on the Commuting (통근통행에 기반한 수도권 중심지 설정과 방법론 연구)

  • In this study, we propose a methodology of center setting based on commuter traffic in the Seoul metropolitan area, and compared with the center setting method in previous studies. For this purpose, the center was derived by performing factor analysis and spatial autocorrelation analysis using the interregional commuting traffic for the administrative districts of the metropolitan area. In addition, we compared the results of applying each methodology of previous studies by classifying the methodologies into four categories: single index - based, multiple index - based, nonparametric, and spatial statistical method. As a result, some similar centers including major centers in Seoul were derived, but different results were obtained for each methodology and it was found that there were limitations in setting the multi sub-centers. Through this study, it can be reaffirmed that it is necessary to establish and supplement the spatial structure plan based on the new center system in the situation where the seoul metropolitan area of the polycentric spatial structure is now being discussed in the context of the urban realms.

An Analysis of Economic Interdependency between Regions using the Canonical Correlation (for the working trip in Seoul metropolitan area) (정준상관분석기법을 이용한 지역간 경제적 의존성 분석 (수도권 출근목적통행량을 기준으로))

  • 고도의 산업화성장에 따라 도시의 기능이 지역간의 완전분리가 아닌 경제적 사회적 상호 연관성이 점점 증가하고 그 내용도 복잡하고 다양해짐에 따라 이에 대한 체계적인 분석이 필요하게 되었으며, 그에 대한 연구 또한 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 기존에 연구에서 제시하고 있는 각 지역단위별로 취업자수에 대한 고용자수 비율 또는 출근통행의 유출량에 대한 유입량 비율 등의 단순지표를 이용한 지역간의 경제적 의존성을 설명하는 데는 한계가 있다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 지역간의 경제적 연관관계 즉 경제적 의존성을 복합적이고 표준화 할 수 있는 계량치로 추정하기 위해 두 변수 집합간의 연관성을 추정하는데 매우 유용한 분석기법인 정준상관분석 기법을 이용하여 추정하고자 하였다. 이에 수도권 72개존의 출근통행자료을 이용하여 지역간의 경제적 의존성을 측정하였으며, 각 존들로 구성된 지역간의 정준상관계수 및 각 존들의 정준가 중계수를 통해 통계적으로 정산되어진 표준화된 계수를 산출하였다. 그 결과 대존의 경우 경기도와 인천시는 각각 0.9753. 0.2968 정도의 서울에 대한 경제적 의존정도를 보이는 것으로 나타나 서울에 대한 경기도의 경제적 의존성이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 산출된 정준가중계수를 살펴보면 분당구와 서울시의 중구는 서울에 대한 경기도의 경제적 의존성에 가장 높은 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났으며, 또한 중존에 해당되는 인천의 3개 권역, 경기의 16개 권역의 서울 5개 권역에 대한 경제적 의존성도 분석되었다.

  • Pedestrian facilities encompass pedestrian roads, stairs, and queuing areas exclusively designed for pedestrian use. The Korean Highway Capacity Manual provides guidelines for analyzing the capacity and level of service of pedestrian facilities. However, there is a lack of analysis methods tailored specifically for pedestrian facilities. Therefore, in this study, we introduced a new standard of pedestrian space to account for changes in the Korean body ellipse. Furthermore, based on this newly defined pedestrian space, we proposed a new standard value for the level of service of queuing areas. The results of on-site surveys confirmed that the proposed level of service can effectively reflect the actual walking situation.

  • This paper discusses a fitness of the control on intersection network using fuzzy analytic hierachy process. The validity of control of traffic signal on intersection is phase, cycle of intersection. But the aigent of traffic intersection network is relative of intersection article. Therefor the aigent of traffic network intersection is before intersection passing vechile number, delayed vechile number. Fuzzy analytic hierachy process clears the grade of validity of the fixed cycle time controller and adaptive fixed cycle time and fuzzy traffic controller and proposes a new control type a traffic signal by this fuzzy analytic hierachy process.

Overcoming the Braess' Paradox in Feasibility Study (경제성 분석의 브레이스 파라독스 극복 방안)

  • In the feasibility analysis, Braess' Paradox results in the negative social benefit in spite of adding transportation facilities. Consequently, it has been difficult to judge on the investment of SOC projects. This research aims to analyze the Braess' Paradox in the feasibility analysis and to seek a remedy for the Paradox. Several experiments were conducted on the simple network under the various conditions. From the experiments, following findings were validated: Braess' Paradox occurred only if travel demands met within certain intermediate range. In terms of traffic assignment method, the SO was more likely to reduce the effect of the Braess' Paradox than the UE. However, the Braess' Paradox in the benefit of operating cost saving occurred in all cases and the paradox in the total benefit continued. In order to solve the problem, new link cost function considered travel time and operating cost simultaneously were suggested. As a result, the negative benefit was significantly decreased in the UE case and total negative benefit was no longer shown in the SO case through the analysis.

Accuracy Estimation of Video Image Detector Considering Heteroscedasticity (이분산성을 고려한 영상검지기 정확도 추정)

  • The accuracy of a Video Image Detector (VID) is gradually reduced due to various environmental and mechanical factors. However, there has been no systematic research about the decrease of VID accuracy. To maintain a proper level of VID accuracy for advanced traffic management, a regular VID calibration process needs to be introduced. However, the calibration cannot be performed frequently because of the cost. In this study, the researchers collected field data for accuracy estimation and inferred an accuracy decreasing function by using regression and considering the heteroscedasticity problem. Using the invented data collection equipment which was used for checking adaptability, some data in the field were collected and analyzed. Although the data were limited, the results are promising. More data need to be investigated in the future and this study will help to maintain the data quality for broad utilization of the data in ITS centers.

A Model for Shortest Path Calculation on lntermodal Transportation Network (복합 교통망에서의 최적경로산정 모형개발)

  • 자동차보급의 대중화와 함께 버스, 전철 등 대중교통체계의 지속적인 서비스 확충으로 인해 다양한 교통망의 이용행태가 나타나고 있다. 즉, 승용차를 이용하다가 대중교통수단을 이용하는 경우가 발생하게 되고 이러한 환경에서, 기타 통행대안들(예를 들면 목적지, 수단, 경로 등)이 효율적으로 연계 선택되어질 수 있도록 지원하여 전체 교통체계의 이용효율을 높일 수 있는 방안들이 강구되도록 요구되어지고 있다. 본고는 이런 관점에서 복합교통망에서의 경로안내 체계의 구현을 위한 알고리즘개발과 평가를 주목적으로 한다. 즉, 복합교통망에서의 경로탐색모형과 이 모형에 적용가능한 경로탐색 알고리즘의 제시하고, 이를 위해 복합교통말의 한 축이 되는 대중교통망의 특징을 분석하고 대중교통망에서의 경로탐색알고리즘을 평가하였으며 이를 바탕으로 일반가로망과의 최단경로구축의 통합방안을 제시하였다. 알고리즘의 구현과정을 필요한 데이터의 구축과정과 함께 도시함으로서 모형과 알고리즘에 대한 평가와 함께 실제 구현시 필요한 제반 사항들도 검토하였으며, 장래의 연구과제를 아울러 제시하였다.
