  • Drapability is an important factor determining the end-use of fabrics. In this research, characteristics of drapability of men's and women's suit fabrics were analyzed. The hand and the preference for suit fabrics were measured by the subjective and objective evaluations. To find out the details of the drapability characteristics of suit fabrics, the drape was measured by using Cusick drape tester and was processed by image analysis software. Seasonal difference was obvious both in men's and women's fabrics. The average drape ratio of women's S/S suit fabrics showed the highest value, 0.724, then decreased in the order of men's F/W> men's S/S> women's FW. Wave amplitude showed the same order to the drape ratio. Men's fabrics were more drapable in spring and summer season rather than in fall and winter season. Women's fabrics showed the opposite trend, in other words, S/S suit fabrics were less drapable than F/W fabrics. There was also a significant difference in drape ratio between men's and women's fabrics regardless of season. For S/S, men's fabrics were more drapable than women's ones, whereas, for F/W, women's fabrics were more drapable.

  • This study analyzed all of the research articles published in six of the Korean science education journals in the past three decades. The purpose of this research synthesis was to identify gender differences in hundreds of research articles accomplished at the personal, local, and national level that have repeatedly been reported in several international comparative studies. There were few of articles that focused on gender issues, but 279 articles presented a result of gender issues separately. Of the 279 articles, we finally analyzed 225 research articles for a statistical significance. The articles were divided into two types of research method: test-based studies and experiment-based studies. The results of research synthesis in test-based studies were as follows: The largest number of studies reported male superiority in science knowledge and science-related attitude, which is similar to the results of recent international studies. In particular, gender differences were the biggest in science-related attitudes and the least in scientific process skills. The result of research synthesis in experimental studies was that the largest number of articles did not show significant gender differences in the effect of the applied program. It is noteworthy that the applied science education programs tend to be more effective in improving female students' scientific attitude and male students' science knowledge. It is necessary to develop more gender-inclusive science programs for female students to feel science more positively.

  • In this study, the properties of mudstone weathered soils related to landslides were analyzed at the area of landslide induced by heavy rainfall in Pohang. The soil tests were carried out to the soils obtained from landslide and non landslide sites, and the soil properties were investigated. The correlation between soil properties and landslides were analyzed using statistical technique, and then the soil factors were extracted from the correlation analysis. The correlation equation which can calculate the coefficient of permeability influenced on landslides was proposed using the soil factors. As the result of analysis, the porosity and unit weight of soils from the landslide area is smaller than those of soils from the non landslide area. The soils with poor grain size distribution and loose unit weight are prone to landslides because the soils have a large void ratio and a low unit weight. The permeability of soils from the landslide area is larger than that of soils from the non landslide area. According to the result of correlation analysis, the effective grain size, the saturated unit weight and silt and clay contents are evaluated as the influence factors. These factors were considered to estimate the coefficient of permeability of mudstone weathered soils.

  • Korean part-of-speech taggers decompose a compound morpheme into unit morphemes and attach part-of-speech tags. So, here is a disadvantage that part-of-speech for morphemes are over-classified in detail and complex word types are generated depending on the purpose of the taggers. When using the part-of-speech tagger for keyword extraction in deep learning based language processing, it is not required to decompose compound particles and verb-endings. In this study, the part-of-speech tagging problem is simplified by using a Head-Tail tokenization technique that divides only two types of tokens, a lexical morpheme part and a grammatical morpheme part that the problem of excessively decomposed morpheme was solved. Part-of-speech tagging was attempted with a statistical technique and a deep learning model on the Head-Tail tokenized corpus, and the accuracy of each model was evaluated. Part-of-speech tagging was implemented by TnT tagger, a statistical-based part-of-speech tagger, and Bi-LSTM tagger, a deep learning-based part-of-speech tagger. TnT tagger and Bi-LSTM tagger were trained on the Head-Tail tokenized corpus to measure the part-of-speech tagging accuracy. As a result, it showed that the Bi-LSTM tagger performs part-of-speech tagging with a high accuracy of 99.52% compared to 97.00% for the TnT tagger.

  • In this study, the reverberation of a bistatic sonar operated in southeastern coast in the East Sea in July 2020 was analyzed. The reverberation sensor data were collected through an LFM sound source towed by a research vessel and a horizontal line array receiver 1 km to 5 km away from it. The reverberation sensor data was analyzed by various methods including geo-plot after signal processing. Through this, it was confirmed that the angle reflected from the sound source through the scatterer to the receiver has a dominant influence on the distribution of the reverberation sound, and the probability distribution characteristics of bistatic sonar reverberation varies for each beam. In addition, parametric factors of K distribution and Rayleigh distribution were estimated from the sample through moment method estimation. Using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test at the confidence level of 0.05, the distribution probability of the data was analyzed. As a result, it could be observed that the reverberation follows a Rayleigh probability distribution, and it could be estimated that this was the effect of a low reverberation to noise ratio.
