Automatic Method for Transforming Image into Tactile Map Based on Cognitive Characteristics of Visually Impaired Persons (시각장애인 인지특성을 기반으로 한 영상자료의 촉각지도 자동 변환 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose the method for automatically transfers images into tactile maps information based on cognition characteristics of visually impaired persons to more easily provide various image information for visually impaired persons. The proposed method automatically classify color images into row complexity and high complexity based on intensity information and transfer images into tactile map information using each different transformation process. Experimental evaluation, We performed with visually impaired five persons experiments for evaluating the recognition and satisfaction that tactile maps of the proposed automatic transforming method and the manually generated tactile maps of braille textbooks. Experimental results, the recognition and satisfaction that the tactile maps of the proposed method generated are very similar to those of the tactile maps of braille textbooks. Therefore, it could hugely be reduced the time and money of production education materials, and it could greatly improved educative results because it can add more easily that many image data of education materials.

3D Point Clouds Encryption Method and Analysis of Encryption Ratio in Holographic Reconstruction Image (3D 공간정보 암호화 기법과 홀로그래픽 복원영상의 암호화 효율 분석)

  • This paper propose a 3D point clouds (depth) security technique for digital holographic display service. Image contents encryption is a method to provide only authorized right owners with the original image information by encrypting the entire image or a part of the image. The proposed method detected an edge from a depth and performed quad tree decomposition, and then performed encryption. And encrypts the most significant block among the divided blocks. The encryption effect was evaluated numerically and visually. The experimental results showed that encrypting only 0.43% of the entire data was enough to hide the constants of the original depth. By analyzing the encryption amount and the visual characteristics, we verified a relationship between the threshold for detecting an edge-map. As the threshold for detecting an edge increased, the encryption ratio decreased with respect to the encryption amount.

  • The authoring systems for digital contents using multimedia technologies ate requested in many fields such as education, medical science, entertainment market e-commerce and etc. Especially, the emergence of cyber universities and the rapid expansion of on-line education market require the effective contents authoring systems, which have various functions to generate the qualified contents. Therefore, many systems arc developed and currently used. However, since the developed systems considered only the developer's convenience, the generated digital contents by using these systems are failed to draw tile users'(or learners') active interaction with contents. That is, since the users just watch the contents like watching a drama or a film, it causes many problems in delivering the contents effectively or in evaluating the users. This paper presents, develops, and implements the new contents authoring system by using programing languages and/or software tools. The presented, developed, and implemented system mimics the face-to-face education in off-line system, induces the users' active interaction with contents, and continuous evaluation to the users.

A Study on the Extraction of Emotional Words for Media Facade (내용분석 및 자유연상을 통한 미디어 파사드의 감성어휘 추출)

  • The aim of this paper is to select a distinct vocabulary for understanding the media facade of user and to lay the foundation for a media facade emotional scale. Firstly, we assembled a set of emotional words that were sufficient to represent a general overview of korean emotions, collected from various literature studies. Secondly, we found emotional words from collecting user opinion on the Youtube website. Finally the emotional words were collected from phrase by using non-structural survey. The collected words were integrated according to standards and they were organized 39 pieces that can be used in the survey. As a result, we extracted 21 emotional words for measuring user's emotions expressed while watching media facade, such as 'novel', 'cool', 'awesome', 'gorgeous', 'exciting', 'amazing', 'wonderful,', 'showy', 'great,', 'intense', 'good', 'grand', 'colorful', 'unique', 'variety', 'new', 'fun', 'beautiful', 'luxurious,', 'mysterious', 'satisfactory'. And we categorized the 21 words to form 5 elements by using factor analysis such as 'surprise', 'attention', 'variety', 'aesthetics', 'interest'.

A Study for the Effect of Notes as Learning Activities on Blended-Learning of Undergraduate Students (혼합 학습에서 공책필기와 학업성취도의 관계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of notes as learning activities on Blended-Learning of undergraduate students. For the research, students taking 'Chinese' in D university were participated, 65 students in spring semester and 255 students in fall semester in 2007. Blended-Learning have made progress to the students and a test of notes have taken two times. This study has employed the cases of 213 employees for the final analysis, while adopting correlation and regression to analyze the data for the research goal. In conclusion, notes as learning activities on Blended-Learning has positive correlations and no little effects on the academic achievements of undergraduate students. That is in Blended-Learning and e-learning, learning activities excluding tests and papers are related to academic achievement passively and affect it. Notes which is a evaluation of a progress of learning affecting academic achievements, means providing more practice and self-reflection opportunities in e-learning course through designing many different learning activities.

The Influence of Completeness of the Learning-portfolio on Academic Achievement and Program Satisfaction of College Students Participating in the Learning-portfolio Program (학습포트폴리오 프로그램에서 학습포트폴리오의 완성도가 대학생의 학업 성취도 및 프로그램 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of completeness of the learning-portfolio on academic achievement and program satisfaction of college students participating in the learning-portfolio program. For the aim, the evaluation tool of the learning-portfolio was developed. It assesses the report of goals of the course, diaries of studying, and reflection journals. The data of the grade in the course connected with learning-portfolio, grade point average(GPA), and satisfaction surveys of learning-portfolio program for 389 college students joining in learning-portfolio program were gathered. The findings showed that the score in the evaluation tool of the learning-portfolio significantly and positively affects the grade in the course connected with learning-portfolio, GPA and the satisfaction of learning-portfolio program. The results imply that it is important to evaluate the quality of the learning-portfolio in order to improve the effect of learning-portfolio program.

Effect of Low Molecular Chitosan on the Surface Properties and Oral Bacteria Adhesion of Dental Cement (저분자 키토산이 치과용시멘트의 표면특성과 구강세균 부착에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, low molecular weight chitosan (LC) was added to dental cement liquid at 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 wt% by weight for surface properties and oral bacteria adhesive of dental cement. The evaluated by net setting time and surface properties of surface energy on the surface roughness. The degree of oral bacterial adhesion was assessed using two strains of oral bacteria, S. mutans and E.coli. The results showed that the setting time at the LC0.5 group increased no statistically difference was observed (p<0.05). The surface roughness statically significant LC2.0 group and oral bacteria adhesion experiment results in contrast to the control group LC0, LC-added experimental group showed a somewhat lower adherent surface statistically significant difference was observed (p<0.05). It seems that this LC proved that surface properties and oral bacteria adhesion effect was demonstrated. Therefore, it was suggest that the additional effects of LC and research on a wide range of substances.

Development of a Problem-Based Learning Module for Preschoolers' Growth & Development (학령전기 아동 성장발달의 PBL 모듈 개발)

  • Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered pedagogy that integrates nursing knowledge, skills, and attitudes into clinical nursing practice. This pilot aims to apply a PBL module on preschoolers' growth and development in the nursing curriculum. This quantitative study was performed to develop a PBL module following Dick and Carye's program development process (planning, development, application, and evaluation phases), and to evaluate its effects using structured questionnaires among sophomore nursing students. These students formed teams of four or five people each and spent 40 minutes participating in the PBL module. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and content analysis. Metacognition level increased significantly. There was no significant difference in team efficacy between pre-test and post-test. Post-test learning satisfaction was high. Students reported obtaining knowledge and problem-solving ability with respect to preschoolers' growth and development and were satisfied with teamwork. This finding offers fundamental knowledge concerning the application of a PBL module in nursing curricula.

Flexural Strength and Durability Evaluation by Freezing and Thawing Test of Repaired Reinforced Concrete Beams (보수보강을 실시한 철근콘크리트 보의 동결융해시험을 통한 휨강도 및 내구성 평가)

  • This paper presents experimental investigations about flexural strength and durability of reinforced concrete beams repaired using ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite (DFRCC) and carbon fiber sheet through freezing and thawing test. Total 14 RC beams of $100{\times}100{\times}400mm$ size were tested by 3-point bending and freezing and thawing test by KS F 2456. The beams were reinforced using 3D10 steels on both the tensile and compressive sides, and repaired on 3 sides expect on top cycle. Test results showed that the beams repaired using fiber carbon sheet revealed about 15% higher values of flexural strength compared than the cases of DFRCC motar. On the other hand, the results did not showed meaningful differences in the aspect of durability. For further research, consideration of the steel interference effect and real old specimens such as taken from real deteriorated structures are needed to be tested after repairing with DFRCC and carbon fiber sheet.

The Effect of Managerial Ownership on the Value of Cash Holdings (경영자 지분율이 보유현금가치에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examines the effect of managerial ownership on the value of firms' cash holdings. According to the management entrenchment hypothesis, managers have incentives to make decisions that can undermine shareholders' value for their own private interests. In this situation, as the managerial ownership increases, investors may evaluate that the cash held by the company may be utilized inefficiently and the value of the cash holdings may decrease. On the other hand, based on the incentive alignment hypothesis, the value of cash holdings may increase as investors perceive cash holdings to be effectively used to increase corporate value as managers' interests are in agreement with shareholders. Empirical results show that the value of cash holdings decreased as managerial ownership increased. This study finds a contribution in that it presents empirical evidence on whether the cash held by the company is differentially evaluated according to the level of the managerial ownership.
