A Study on the Mutual Risk Management Between Container Terminal Operator and Shipping Company in Gwangyang Port (광양항의 컨테이너터미널 운영사와 해운선사간의 상호리스크 관리방안 연구)

  • The mutual risk management in port is really important for operating the enterprise between container terminals who provide port service and shipping liners who use the port service. This study is performed to contribute to obtain the competitive power of domestic shipping and harbor industry by getting solution of mutual risk management which can make Win-Win strategy on each other as an alternative idea. We suggested two kinds of management models to promote common benefits between container terminals and shipping liners. It is necessary to push positive support and cooperation from government and belonging related organizations for activating the Gwangyang port. In this study, we presented the efficient method to manage mutual risks between container terminals and shipping liners.

  • 컨테이너터미널에서 사용되는 하역시스템은 유류 및 전기 에너지를 주로 소모하는 특성을 가지고 있어 컨테이너의 작업량에 따라 에너지 소비가 증가하게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 컨테이너터미널 운영사에서 하역작업시 장비별로 소비하는 에너지소비 패턴분석을 하고자 한다. 에너지소비 패턴을 분석하기 위해 하역장비별 에너지 소모량과 영역별 컨테이너 처리량을 상호비교 분석하였다. 그리고 컨테이너터미널에서 소비하는 에너지의 월별 소비패턴에서 정상적인 에너지 소비패턴과 비정상적인 에너지 소비패턴을 분류하는 방법을 도출하고 정상적인 에너지소비 패턴을 유도하기 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the concentration effect of Busan container terminal. Productivity and efficiency have played key role to attract more cargo to a port because these are important factors to select liners’ calling port in vessel deployment. It means that productivity directly links with the liners’ vessel operation cost. The main results of this paper are as follows: the port concentration by terminal integration can improve the port's external image with recovering tariff competitiveness and also facilitate economic effect of size through efficient management.

  • This paper presents a approach to the measurement of efficiency. Data envelopment analysis(DEA), as it is called, has particular applicability in the service sector. Applying mathematical programming techniques, DEA enables relative efficiency ratings to be derived within a set of analysed units. This paper investigates the efficiency employing DAE-CCR Model and DEA-BCC Model on data for 15 container terminals covering 1998$^{\sim}$2005 in Korea Results of this paper, suggests to some plan for operation strategy in Container terminals.

컨테이너 터미널의 내륙운송 효율화를 위한 플랫폼 개발 모델 구축

  • 4차 산업혁명의 가속화에 따라 해운 항만 산업 분야 또한 정보적 측면에서 빅 데이터에 대한 업종별 통합과 공유를 통해 연계 산업 간 산업활동 효율화를 위한 노력이 요구된다. 현재 물류 분야에 다양한 플랫폼들이 도입되고 있지만 대부분 화물운송업 또는 창고 중개업 분야에 편중되어 있다. 항만산업의 경우 코로나 펜데믹 이후 발생한 컨테이너 반입 제한 및 장치율 증가 등에 따라 운송사와 컨테이너터미널 간 갈등이 지속적으로 유발되는 상황이 발생되었다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 플랫폼을 활용한 컨테이너터미널과 운송사 간 플랫폼 개발의 필요성을 인지하고 상호 기업 간 연계 효율성을 높일 수 있는 방안을 모색하였으며 산업 관계자인 컨테이너터미널 운영사, 운송사, 포워더 업종 종사자들을 대상으로 설문지 기반 실증 분석을 수행하였다. 결과적으로 EFA를 통해 추출된 14가지 요인으로 IPA 분석을 수행한 결과 1사분면(사용 용이성, 보안성, 정보 정확성, 정보 적시성, 차량 반출/반입정보, 공컨테이너 반입/반출 정보, 풀컨테이너 반입/반출정보)으로 품질에 대한 지속적인 개선이 수행되어야 하며 2사분면(APP 시스템 품질)에 대한 고려가 종합적으로 수행되어야 함이 도출되었다. 또한, 플랫폼 개발의 주체와 이용자의 참여 유도가 필요하며 상호 이해관계자 간 효율적인 연계와 효율화를 위한 인식 구조 개선이 필요하다고 나타났다. 연구결과는 향후 컨테이너터미널과 내륙운송의 효율적인 연계를 위한 플랫폼 구축에 중대한 시사점을 제공한다.

  • In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, automated technology innovation is emerging, and container terminals are being developed to introduce automation equipment and systems. With the advent of ultra-large vessels, terminals around the world are seeking to build port infrastructure by combining automated technology in order to attract more cargo and to enhance competitiveness to provide prompt service. To introduce automated technology that is emerging as a high-tech industry, this study proposes a structural equation model for the decision to introduce automated container terminal and conducts a questionnaire survey on workers engaged in terminal operators for empirical analysis. This paper presents the role and direction of guidelines for introduction of automated container terminal through decision model.

  • 국내 최대 규모의 컨테이너 전용 터미널인 K컨테이너터미널이 스마트폰 기능을 터미널운영시스템에 도입하고 있다. "스마트로(SmartLo)"라고 이름 붙여진 모바일 애플리케이션은 컨테이너를 운송하는 화물차 운전기사들이 항만출입을 위한 다양한 정보를 스마트폰에서 확인할 수 있도록 만든 애플리케이션이다. 본 연구에서는 컨테이너터미널 게이트에서 스마트로 모바일 애플리케이션 개발사례를 제시하고자 한다. 스마트로 서비스를 이용함으로써 컨테이너터미널에서는 사전정보 조회를 통하여 외부 정보오류 최소화와 게이트 내 혼잡 해소, 화물에 대한 신속한 반출입을 통한 고객 서비스 증대, 스마트 슬립(e-SLIP)발급으로 슬립 구입비용 절감 등의 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 또한 운송차량은 신속한 게이트 통과로 운송회전율의 향상, 전배 및 셔틀 운송시 화물에 대한 적기 운송이 가능하게 되고, 운송사 입장에서는 효율적인 배차관리가 가능할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

A Study on the Performance Comparison of Container Terminal Operators in Busan Port and Shanghai Port (부산항과 상하이항 컨테이너 터미널 운영사의 경영성과 비교에 관한 연구)

  • Due to the continuous increasement of the container cargoes, each container port market has been growing as well. Moreover, the competition among container terminal operators located in the same port is also growing in order to attract more container cargoes. This paper looked into the market structures, market conducts and market performances of container ports in Busan and Shanghai. The index which has been most widely used to measure market structure, the Hirschman-Herfindahl Index (HHI), is computed by squaring each supplier's market share, then adding the squared shares. This paper estimated the market performance as profitability (PCM, ROA), growth (total TEU, rate of the increasement of TEU) and examined the effects of the HHI on the profitability and growth in a container terminal operators in Korea and China. The major findings of this study is that the market structure has effects on market performance in Busan port (total TEU) and Shanghai port (PCM, ROA and total TEU). As a result of analysing this study, market structure has an effect on market performance in Busan and Shanghai port, but the power of influence can be changed by market concentration index and various market conduct of companies.

  • As the annual growth rate of port handling container volume in Korea has faced slowdown, this paper attempts to find strategies for the domestic container terminal operators in order to enhance competitiveness. For this, the model of using AHP and the fuzzy set theory is used for evaluating competitiveness between domestic and global container terminal operators. The evaluation model hierarchy is developed based on SERM(subject-environment-resource-mechanism) theory of business strategy. The results show domestic operators are ranked lower than global player so that they particularly pay attention to the areas of scale of economy, business diversification, and globalization strategy.

A Study on the Analysis of Knowledge Management Level in Major Container Terminal Operators (주요 컨테이너 터미널 운영사의 지식경영 수준 분석)

  • The aim of this study is to analyze current level of knowledge management(KM) performance in major container terminals. To achieve this aim, the evaluation criteria and KM performance index from pervious research were adopted. and current levels of KM performance of four leading container terminal operators which is located in Busan port were measured. The results firstly showed that average of KM level of these terminal operators was 67.7. And also, from the results of data analysis, it revealed that the weak point of KM in Korean leading terminal operators is official system and programs such as incentive policies, learning programs, and IT support systems for organizational knowledge sharing and knowledge codification.
