  • In blogspace, there are posts that deal with a common topic and bloggers that are interested in these posts. In this paper, we define a blog community as a group of these bloggers and posts. With a blog community, we can establish various business policies for target marketing, sharing high quality data, and mobilizing the activities in the blogspace. Unlike internet cafes, bloggers participate in blog communities without explicit membership. So, it is not easy to identify the members of a community. In this paper, we propose an effective approach for extracting a blog community that is related to a given topic. First, we choose seed posts that is highly related to a given topic, and select bloggers that are related to the topic with the seed posts. Then, we select posts that are related to the topic with the selected bloggers. By repeating this, we find all the posts and bloggers that are members of the community related to a given topic in blogspace. We verify the superiority of the proposed approach by analyzing extracted blog communities.

  • A brand community refers to a group of people who have a passion and loyalty for the brand, and is attracting attention as an effective marketing strategy to increase brand equity because it actively tends to support and promote the brand without expecting compensation. The objective of this study is to identify factors that are needed for sustainable brand community management. Existing studies on brand community management have mainly been conducted by quantitative methods measuring consumer satisfaction and dissatisfaction towards brand community activities, however, this study applied qualitative methods using means-end chains and laddering approaches in order to deeply identify a consumer's desired value on brand community activities. An in-depth interview of 41 members of BTS ARMY, a representative example of brand community, has been conducted and analyzed. The result of this study is as follows. In order to encourage active brand community activities, it is important to provide brand community members with a variety of high-quality brand-related content for a unique aesthetic experience, and a forum where all members can interact and exchange information and ideas to enhance brand value and experience. Finally, to nurture a strong brand community as a partner to co-create brand equity, rather than just a fan community, it is needed to build an environment that fosters opportunities for brand community members to increase self-respect and fulfillment through their brand community activities.

For the purpose, efforts were made to categorize common properties based on various cases using qualitative data collection about 10 community dance specialists. The Practice of Community theory of Wenger(1991) has contributed to conceptualization including the new perspective on community dance, which has been the theoretical framework. Firstly, 'a community' as a basic premise is self-organizing, interactive, regional and creative. Secondly, 'practice' in community dance means openness, focused on participants, improvisation and nmind-body centering, value-oriented processes and connectivity with daily lives. Thirdly, 'social learning' can be interpreted within the framework of joint enterprise and domain, quality and status of dacne, and dance literacy embodied as a shared repertoire. Lastly, identity of community dance has been expanding the concept area as 'dance for all' reflecting ongoing properties and future-oriented values in that it pursues healing arts and relationship, amateurism collaborating with dance artists, combination of democratic citizenship and civic creativity, cultural diversity and social integration, and types of sustainable development.

  • As Web-based online communities are rapidly growing, the agents in social groups need to know their measurable belief of trust for safe andsuccessful interactions. In this paper, we propose a computational model of trust resulting from available feedbacks in online communities. The notion of trust can be defined as an aggregation of consensus given a set of past interactions. The averagetrust of an agent further represents the center of gravity of the distribution of its trustworthiness and untrustworthiness. And then, we precisely describe the relationship between reputation, trust, and averagetrust through a concrete example of their computations. We apply our trust model to online internet settings in order to show how trust mechanisms are involved in a rational decision-making of the agents.
