An interview survey was conducted on a thousand adults over the age of nineteen who are residing in sixteen cities and provinces nationwide. As a result, a high rate of online media usage was observed among people with progressive political inclination. It showed that the political communication acts of 'writing/communicating' which indicates ons actively posting their personal opinions, has a positive influence on communication satisfaction. On the other hand, the usage of offline media was dominant over people with conservative and neutral political inclination. A passive act of 'reading/watching,' which is to observe other people's opinions, was shown by most of the interviewees. Therefore, it was able to discuss that in order for a harmonious flow of political communication among our society, the understanding of citizens' political characteristic must be preceded and the differentiated political communication using media must be raised accordingly.

  • This experimental study examines whether paralinguistic behavior is a deception cue in an interrogation. 92 college students participated in an experiment and were randomly assigned to two conditions. Participant were then asked to take the money or not to take the money according to the condition they were assigned. Then participants had a face-to-face interrogation. During the interrogation, participants' paralinguistic behavior was recorded and used for coding and analysis. Results reveal that participants' paralinguistic behaviors differ depending on question types and deceptive paralinguistic cues are speech speed and fillers for the closed critical question and response latency, response length, and fillers for the open critical question. These findings implicate that part of paralinguistic behavior could be a deception cue and thus these cues might be applicable to deception detection in real world criminal investigations.

  • Based on theoretical background of Situational Theory of Problem Solving(STOPS), we have examined the role of STOPS variables on a group of online public in their issue recognition and communicative behavior on Korea's nationwide civil boycott movement of Japanese goods. Results from 524 survey cases from a Korea's major online community show that two independent variables(Problem Recognition, Referent Criterion) revealed positive in their effect on mediating variable(Situational Motivation in Problem Solving). Situational Motivation also revealed positive in its effect on six dependent variables(Information Forefending, Information Permitting, Information Forwarding, Information Sharing, Information Seeking, Information Attending) of Communicative Behavior. Involvement Recognition and Constraint Recognition revealed positive without proper statistical significance. As a result, study on the case of online public in Korea supports STOPS theory as high-level of Problem Recognition and Referent Criterion effects on Communicative Behavior in positive way via Situational Motivation. Implications from the findings have discussed and proposed suggestions for government public relations and further studies.
