  • There has been an increasing public concern about environmental safety and human health of field crops while customer consumes more and more field crops, to which overdose and residual chemicals were applied. As a solution for the problems, construction of sustainable agroecosystem is spreading out to pursuit the economic value of agricultural management as well as to meet environment concern. Public has extended their understanding on the preservation of environment and safeness of agricultural products, and governmental policy toward sustainable agriculture drives rapid increase of the production of sustainable agricultural products. Under this circumstances, it is time to encourage more consumption and to activate market system for the sustainable agricultural products. This study was initiated to diagnose the problems and future direction of domestic sustainable agriculture by analyzing the overall opinions of consumer on the sustainable agriculture. The results are as follows: The pursuit of low input management is a prerequisite to creat high valued agricultural products, and serious consideration should be taken to produce clean crops using natural products. Consummers are willing to pay 10∼50% more prices if the products get certified by official eco-label programs. It is believed that practice of sustainable agriculture using biopesticide and natural pesticide would accelerate the rapid extension of this pro-environmental agricultural management. To activate production and consumption of sustainable agricultural products correct informations on safety should be addressed to customer, and confidence has to be brought about from customer. This could be done by obtaining various and efficient distribution route, product competency for quality, upgraded sales strategy, maximum utilization of certificate system, and practice of recall system, so on.

  • In this research, we analyzed the effect of environmental friendliness on consumer's purchase intention with an energy saving product. We found that the economic benefit, easy to use and environmental friendliness have significant positive(+) effects on environmental friendliness of the energy saving product. We also found that the effects of economic benefit and environmental friendliness differ by the level of consumer's environmental consciousness. Consumers with high level of the environmental consciousness are less sensitive on the change of the economic benefit and more sensitive on the change of the environmental friendliness than consumers with low level of the environmental consciousness. The results of this research imply that when planning a marketing strategy for an environmental friendly product it is important to emphasis the economic benefit to consumers with low level of the environmental consciousness while it is important to emphasis the environmental friendliness to consumers with high level of the environmental consciousness.

  • There have been numerous studies to develop eco-friendly concrete. The attempt to reduce the amount of cement usage is suggested as one of the solutions for eco-friendly concrete. To reduce the amount of cement usage, the pozzolan-reaction materials such as ground granulated blast furnace slag, fly ash, and meta kaolin are widely used as the mineral admixture. Hwangtoh which deposited broadly in Korea is a well known eco-friendly material and the activated Hwangtoh with pozzolan-reaction can be practically used as a mineral admixture of concrete. Meanwhile, PET fiber made of recycled PET bottle is a type of recycled material, which can be used to control micro cracks in concrete. But the study about concrete mixed with recycled PET fiber is insufficient and the research of Hwangtoh concrete mixed with PET fiber is urgently needed presently. In this study, experiment and analysis flexural behavior of Hwangtoh concrete blended with recycled PET fiber are carried out. The results are discussed in detail.

  • This study proposes kinetic parameters of Ru catalyst for steam methane reforming (SMR). First, extensive experiments are performed under different SMR conditions to evaluate performance of the catalyst in SMR. Second, a kinetic model is designed and developed for parameter estimation and validation using gPROMS. Finally, estimated parameters are fitted to the kinetic model and then, the model results are compared with the experimental data. The model results are in a good agreement with the experimental data.

  • In this work, adhesive tapes were prepared for the dicing process in semiconductor manufacturing. Compounds with different numbers of photoreactive groups (f = 1 to 3) were synthesized and incorporated into acrylic copolymers to formulate UV-curable acrylic adhesives. Structural confirmation of the synthesized photoreactive compounds (f = 2 or 3) was performed using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The introduction of the photoreactive compounds into the acrylic adhesive was accomplished by urethane reactions, and the successful synthesis of the UV-curable acrylic adhesive was verified by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) measurements. To evaluate the performance of the adhesive, the peel strength was evaluated before and after UV irradiation using a silicon wafer as a substrate. The adhesive exhibited high peel strength (~2000 gf/25 mm) before UV exposure, which was significantly reduced (~5 gf/25 mm) after UV exposure. Interestingly, the adhesive containing multifunctional photoreactive compounds showed the most significant reduction in peel strength. In addition, surface residue measurements by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) showed minimal surface residue (~0.2%) after UV exposure. Overall, these results contribute to the understanding of the behavior of UV-curable acrylic adhesives and pave the way for potential applications in semiconductor manufacturing processes.

  • We investigate new polyols based on castor oil for polyurethane. In order to introduce primary alcohol groups, which exhibit higher reactivity with isocyanate than secondary alcohol groups, the secondary alcohol groups on castor oil were modified with maleic anhydride and aminoalcohol derivatives ($H_2N$-R-OH). The reactions with various molar ratio of castor oil and maleic anhydride were done at relatively low reaction temperature in the absence of catalyst. The polyols based on castor oil with flexible side-chains exhibit better miscibility with conventional synthetic polyols.

  • This research presents that exogenous characteristics of consumers affect eco-friendly vehicle preference. The car consumers are classifies into two groups by their characteristics - sex, age, and fuel expense. To find differences in the preference for eco-friendly vehicle, marginal utilities and compensate variations of vehicle attributes are estimated. The results suggest that there are significant differences in marginal utilities and compensate variations. However, the compensate variation is more reliable standard to test the preference differences because utility is a subjective measure. Men and old people have stronger preference for the fuel efficiency than women and young people. High fuel expense people have more preference for short time charging vehicles than low fuel expense people. In addition, gasoline vehicles are more attractive to young people than old people.

  • There have been numerous studies to develop eco-friendly concrete. The attempt to reduce the amount of cement used is suggested as one of the solutions for eco-friendly concrete. To decrease the usage of cement, the pozzolan reaction materials are used as a mineral admixture. Hwang-toh, which is broadly deposited in Korea is a well known environment friendly material and the activated hwang-toh, which has the property of pozzolan reaction, is alternatively used as a mineral admixture of concrete. The purpose of this study is to investigate the drying shrinkage of hwang-toh concrete mixed with recycled PET fiber. Therefore, drying shrinkage experiments are performed to analyze mechanical property of hwang-toh concrete mixed with recycled PET fiber. Test results showed that the drying shrinkage is controlled by hwang-toh admixture and PET fiber.

  • In this study, hydrogenation of 1,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene was performed to produce R-1234yf as an environmentally friendly refrigerant. Palladium based carbon was prepared as a catalyst in the hydrogenation reaction. The effect of reaction conditions including the weight hourly space velocity (WHSV), reaction temperature and ratio of hydrogen and reactants on the catalytic performance was investigated. Under the identical reaction conditions, the effect of WHSV on the main product selectivity was insignificant, but a high reaction temperature was essential for the good product selectivity. A high product selectivity was also obtained when the ratio of hydrogen and reactants kept less than 1.5. Moreover, a correlation model involving the statistical approach to predict product yields was developed.
