The purpose of this study is to identify the actual condition of poly-victimization and examine the difference in the levels of psychological adaptation and delinquency by victimization types among adolescents. A total 6,174 cases from '2013 Adolescent Deviant Behaviors and Policy Issues' of NYPI was used for the analysis. Main findings are that 8.3% of adolescents exposed to more than two types of victimization and 2.1% of them experienced more than three types of victimization. There were significant differences in the levels of psychological adaptation and delinquency by victimization types. Study findings were discussed in terms of implications for research and intervention of adolescent poly-victimization.
This longitudinal study tested the role of adolescents' emotional regulation and self-esteem as mediators of the associations between parenting behaviors and adolescent's internalizing problems one year later in a sample of 125 adolescents aged 16 to 17 years growing up in single parent families. Structural equation modeling was used for analyses of research questions. Results indicated that time 1 parenting behaviors were not associated with time 2 adolescents' internalizing problems directly, but that time 1 and time 2 self-esteem mediated the associations between time 1 parenting behaviors and time 2 adolescents' internalizing problems.
This longitudinal study investigated the mediating effects of self-control and self-esteem on the associations between parenting behaviors and middle school students' externalizing problems in single parent families. Participants were 174(2003-2004 panel 1 data of Korea Youth Panel Survey). The results of structural equation modeling indicated that self-control and self esteem did not mediate the associations between time 1 parenting behaviors and time 2 middle school students' externalizing problems, after accounting for the effects of time 1 middle school students' externalizing problems.

In this study, we examine differences in the children's medical utilization by family structure with a focus on single-mother and single-father families using data from the Korean Health Panel Survey, years 2008~2012. We also investigate whether the cause of transition into a single-parent household, whether coresidence with children's grandparents, and number of siblings are associated with children's use of ambulatory visits. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, children who grew up in single-father households had fewer ambulatory visits compared to those living with both parents after controlling for children's demographic characteristics and family backgrounds. Second, coresidence with grandparents was not associated with children's medical utilization. However, number of siblings was significantly and negatively correlated with the use of ambulatory visits. Third, children living with a divorced father had fewer medical utilization compared to those living with a widowed father, and coresidence with grandparents was positively associated with children's use of ambulatory visits. Our findings suggest that tailored policy supports would be more fruitful based on characteristics of single-parent households such as gender of parents, and the supports should also pay more attention to health care needs and medical utilization of children.
The purpose of this study was to use the Korea Health Panel to determine how the mother's characteristic and household characteristic variables were associated with dental clinic use of children in childhood and adolescence. The logistic regression analysis found that mother's education level was statistically significantly positively correlated with underage child's dental clinic use and children in single-parent family were less likely to use a dental clinic than those in two-parent family. As for dental clinic use by diseases, the higher level of mother's education, the more likely to use a dental clinic due to dental caries and children in single-parent family were less likely to use a dental clinic due to dental caries than those in two-parent family. No difference in dental clinic use due to tooth extraction was found by any of mother's characteristics or household characteristics, probably because age has an absolute impact during the period between milk teeth and permanent teeth. Lastly, mother's education level and household income were significantly positively correlated with dental clinic use due to orthodontics. On the basis of these results, it is necessary to develop a customized strategy reflecting children's growth stages and household characteristics in making a plan for promoting oral health of children and adolescents.

On the contrary, higher levels of depression and aggression were detected among adolescents who perceived parenting attitude as more intrusiveness. The more the inconsistent parenting practices perceived by adolescents, the higher the degree of depression. Second, a higher level of life satisfaction was found among adolescent who were more likely to perceive positive parenting attitudes including monitoring, affection and reasoning. However, there was no significant correlation between negative parenting behavior and life satisfaction. This study aimed to examine the impact of academic background on full-time employment and on other important issues concerning job security and care faced by single-parent youths. The study alse aimed to verify the effect of related support on full-time employment. The analysis targeted 262 single parents under 24 years of age who were raising their children, and the main results were as follows: First, the ratio of adulthood was high for those who were employed, and the academic achievement of full-time workers was also significantly high. However, the rate of discontinuities in school was also high among those who were employed, especially those seeking full-time employment, whose desire to stay in school was higher than that of other difficulties of single, teenage parents. Second, the vocational education experience of single, teenage parents was 32 percent overall, and the rate of those seeking full-time employment was also relatively high, reaching 44 percent. However, the results of this study did not verify the direct effect of vocational education experience on full-time employment nor the interaction effect of the academic background. Therefore, a thorough review of the effectiveness of a vocational education program for young, single parents wishing to gain employment is necessary. Third, the overall rate of those who received a public nanny service was 31 percent, while the rate of full-time workers who experienced this service was significantly higher reaching 59 percent. In the research model verification, single parents who received a public nanny service were 3.8 times more likely to get a full-time job than those who did not, and receiving a public nanny service showed a regulatory effect between academic studies and full-time employment. The higher the academic level of the parents, the higher their possibility of full-time employment.
The purpose of this study is to explore the general trends and the correlations of parent-child conflicts, copings, and psychological well-being of single mothers and their children, and to analyze the variables explaining relationships between single mothers and their children. The subjects were 196 dyads of single mothers and their children who reside in Gwangju city and Jeonnam area. The data were analyzed with frequency, t-Test, Pearsons' r, and multiple regression by SPSS. The major findings are as follows: 1. Scores of single mothers and their children had conflicts and emotion-focused copings lower than median. Another scores of single mothers and their children had significantly higher problem solving focused copings and emotion-focused copings than their children except life satisfaction; 2. Conflicts, copings, life satisfaction, and depression of a single mother were positively related to those of children; 3. Life satisfaction of single mothers depends on the reason for spouse-loss, their own education background, and problem solving-focused copings. Also, that of children depends on problem solving-focused copings, mother-child conflicts, and the mothers' education. Depression of single mothers is dependent upon mother-child conflicts, emotion-focused copings, and mothers' education. Also, that of children is upon mother-child conflicts, emotion-focused copings, mothers' education, and problem solving-focused copings.
