Study on the influencing factors on school adjustment of students with disabilities-Focused on school and disability related characteristics (장애 학생의 학교생활 적응에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구-학교 및 장애 특성을 중심으로)

  • This study intends to provide basic evidence needed to establish plans to help disabled children and youth adapt to school by analyzing factors to influence on their school adjustment. To accomplish this goal, raw data of Survey of Disabled People in 2014 conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare was utilized for analysis to identify determining factors among level of school, type of school, type of disability, severity of disability, subjective health status, experience of discrimination on disabled children's school adjustment. Results of the analysis are as follows. Level of school, type of school and severity of disability are influencing factors on disabled children's school adjustment. This result shows that the introduction of peer support programs and expansion of special class and auxiliary personnel are needed to assist disabled students' school adjustment.

  • As portion of the mobile games in game industries has snowballed lately, length of the game time by teenagers who are main users has remarkably increased and mobile games have affected teenagers' lives including elementary school students in various ways. So this study has designed to offset the negative effects of mobile game through examining its impact on elementary school students' achievement and school adjustment.

A study on the Effects of Parenting Attitudes on School Adjustment in Middle School Students (융합적 부모양육태도가 중학생의 학교적응에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze how effects of parental monitoring, parental affection, inconsistency in parenting attitudes on adolescents' school adjustment and intervention to help adolescents school adjustment. Korea Youth Policy Institute to achieve the research objectives, 'Korea Child Youth Panel Survey'(KCYPS 2010) using data from the First year 1 data were analyzed by Descriptive Statistic, t-Testing, ANOVA and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results of the study are as follows. parenting attitudes were an independent variable having a partially significant effect on middle school students' school adjustment. As a results, The level of parental monitoring and affection are high, the level of middle school students' school adjustment gets higher. On the contrary, the level of parents' inconsistency are high, the level of middle school students' school adjustment gets lower. Therefore, it is necessary to research various options to develop promoting positive parenting attitude in order to increase the level of the middle school student's school adjustment

Analysis of the Structural Relationship between Social Relationships, Self Esteem, Life Satisfaction, and School Adjustment in Early Adolescents (초기 청소년의 사회적 관계, 자아존중감, 삶의 만족, 학교생활적응 간의 관계 분석)

  • The main purpose of this study was to analysis of the structural relationship between early adolescents' social relationships, self esteem, life satisfaction, and school adjustment. Data harvested from the Korean Youth Panel Survey 2010 was analyzed by means of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results indicate that the model is appropriate in terms of goodness of fit and significant path based on the validation procedure. According to the model, the social relationships have some degree of influence upon self esteem which then goes on to have a subsequent effect on life satisfaction; which in turn have a further influence on school adjustment. Social relationships also have a direct influence on life satisfaction, school adjustment, and self esteem has a direct influence on school adjustment. The paper concludes with an outline of the implications of the present study for future studies on this subject.

A Study on the Effects of Appearance Management Attitude in School Adjustment for Adolescents (청소년의 외모관리 태도가 학교 적응에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • This study was planned to provide basic information to help teachers guide lookism-prone students in their home and school life, and to guide them in the unit relating to clothing in school curriculums. To carry out this experiment questionnaires were administered to 481 students in their first and second year in middle and high schools in Gwangju city. The questionnaires are composed of 3 themes; 'general matters', 'attitudes about and recognition of appearance management' and 'school adaptation'. The collected data was analyzed with Component analysis(Varimax rotation) and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, T-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan-test, Pearson's correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS WIN 14.0(Kr). The results of this study were as follows; 1. The more they managed their behavior relating to appearance and cleanliness, the better they felt their friendships. 2. The less they concentrated management relating to appearance, the better they felt about their relationships with their teachers. 3. The less they concentrated management relating to appearance but the more they managed cleanliness the easier they adjusted to school rules. 4. The less they pursued a trendy appearance but the more they managed cleanliness, the better they studied.

  • This study assumes that the smooth school life of adolescents from multicultural families is recognized as an important part of multicultural support policies and practices as a basis for realizing an integrated society, and system elements that are meaningful for their flexibility to adapt to school (individuals, families, schools) By empirically analyzing the effect of, we tried to bring out highly effective implications for the composition of a multidimensional practice system. Therefore, this study is a causal model in which self-identity (individual factor) and parental parenting attitude (family factor), which are important variables for each system level, are set as independent variables, and school support (school factor) consisting of teacher support and companion support is set as control variables. After collecting data through a questionnaire survey by interviews with 162 middle and high school students in Gyeonggi and Gangwon regions, the effect was analyzed through multiple regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that school support has a very important static moderating effect in the positive (+) effect of adolescents' self-identity and parenting attitude on school adaptability. It was confirmed that the modulating effect is relatively more important.

The Moderating Effect of Growth Mindset Between Female Adolescents' Domestic Abuse Experience and School Adaptation (여학생 청소년들의 가정학대 경험과 학교적응 사이에서 성장 마인드셋의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the moderating effect of growth mindset between female adolescents' domestic abuse experience and school adaptation. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 485 female adolescent girls in D city, Chungcheongnam-do, and the data collected were analyzed for differences test, correlation analysis, and regression analysis of moderating effects. Findings are as follows. First, school adaptation differed according to parents' earning income and academic achievement. Second, growth mindset and school adaptation showed significant positive correlation, but home abuse showed negative correlation with other variables. Third, the result of regression effect of moderating effect showed that the growth mindset for personality had a moderating effect. Finally, based on this study, we discussed ways to improve the school life of female students and teenagers. Specifically, it was suggested to consider the growth mindset and age for personality.

Impact of Peer Attachment, Community Spirit and Multi-cultural Acceptance on School Life Adaption in Children (또래애착, 공동체 의식, 다문화 수용도가 아동의 학교생활 적응에 미치는 영향)

  • This research purposed to verify the effects of children's peer attachment, community spirit, and multi-cultural acceptability on their adaptation to school. Also, I verified the difference of school life adaptation according to the degrees of peer communication, trust, alienation, community spirit, and multi-cultural acceptability. This research utilized Korean Children and Adolescent Panel Survey data to get more comprehensive and objective research result. As a result, the children who had higher peer attachment relationships (with more peer communication and better trust), higher community spirit, and higher level of multi-cultural awareness and acceptability adapted to school better. In particular, peer attachment had the highest effect on the children's school adaptation, community spirit next, followed by multi-cultural acceptability. Therefore, children's education needs to enhance their intimacy with peer groups, compliance with basic norms in school communities, and arouse rightful multi-cultural awareness in order to help them adapt to school better.

The Effects of Multicultural Adolescent's Bicultural Acceptance Attitude on Academic Adaptation : The Longitudinal Mediating Effects of Self-Esteem

  • The purpose of this study is to make practical suggestions to help multicultural adolescents' academic adaptation. For this purpose, changes in the academic adaptation of multicultural adolescents were identified, and longitudinal changes in self-esteem were explored in the relationship between bicultural acceptance attitude and academic adaptation. The data from the panel survey of multicultural youth of the Korea Youth Policy Institute was used for the analysis. The result of analyzing the longitudinal mediating effects of self-esteem between bicultural acceptance and academic adaptation through the multivariate potential growth model, the mediating effects of self-esteem was confirmed. Based on these results, the practical implications for enhancing the bicultural acceptance attitude, academic adaptation, and self-esteem of multicultural youth were presented.
